Chapter 82

"Evie, you really don't know how to seize the moment. If you'd been born a few years earlier and met your brother-in-law Alexander sooner, you might be Mrs. Sterling by now!" Emily sighed again.

"What are we testing next Monday?" Evie changed the subject again.

After reading so many novels, Emily's mind was full of touching love stories about Cinderella fighting back against the CEO.

But how many Cinderellas are there in the world?

Besides, she wasn't Cinderella!

"Next Monday's business is next Monday's business. It's only Friday, Stella. Don't protest so early today."

"..." Evie had to shut up.

Actually, she had just wanted to tell Emily and Stella that she was married. And the man she married was Alexander Sterling.

But she and Alexander didn't fall in love and get married like other normal couples. They got married because of financial problems.

She married Alexander for money. Alexander married her to cover up his identity, or to give an account to old Mrs. Sterling.

Besides, she still didn't know how long this marriage would last. If she wanted a divorce later, explaining everything again would be a headache.

Plus, she hadn't graduated yet!

So she really couldn't say anything.

The more she thought about it, the more her head ached. She decided not to talk about it.

"Then you two keep talking. I'm going to bed first!" Evie said quietly.

"How can you go to bed before the lie-in meeting is over?"

"Exactly! You have no sense of collective honor!"

"Can I not speak?"

"No!" The two answered in unison.

Evie was speechless.

When did this collective sense of honor become tyranny?

Since she couldn't sleep and could barely speak, Evie took out her phone and sent a text message to Alexander. She wanted to explain and apologize for the evening. "Sorry about tonight!"

"?" Alexander only answered with a question mark.

"I don't want my classmates to know I'm married yet. So I don't know... We haven't disclosed our relationship for now. Sorry!" Evie thought for a long time and replied.

She knew this kind of thing was impossible.

Especially since the person she married was Alexander Sterling. It would be made public sooner or later.

But if she could delay it for a while, it would be better. Preferably until after her graduation.

After all, there weren't many college students who got married before graduation. She didn't want to be the subject of gossip.

It was better to keep a low profile!

"It's understandable!" Alexander replied after a while.

"Thank you!" Evie answered sincerely.

Alexander didn't reply anymore.

Evie lay on the bed, thinking about how to get along with Alexander during this time.

Actually, she didn't really know Alexander.

The first time they met was at the banquet at Charlotte's cousin's house.

At first, she had a good impression of him. She thought he was very gentlemanly.

Later, she thought he was a wolf in sheep's clothing.

When she saw him at the Sterling mansion and learned he was Alexander Sterling, she was completely confused.

Even more, she felt this person was enigmatic. He knew who she was from the beginning, but he didn't take the initiative to point it out.

Then he started to act outside the normal routine. He showed his affection at the dinner party, which almost made her lose her way. She felt he was just a passerby, and it wasn't her he should be showing affection to!

They had been living together for some time now, and he was very good to her.

Sometimes she even misunderstood. She thought he actually liked her a little. Not like a guy who only liked men.

She had an illusion. She seemed to be married to many different men named Alexander Sterling.

So she was even more confused.

Forget it. She still wouldn't think about it. Anyway, she didn't understand.

If she thought too much, she would only have more headaches and feel more lost.

Later, Evie didn't know what Emily and Stella were still talking about. She fell asleep.

Early in the morning, Evie was still asleep when she received a phone call from the Sterling mansion. They said they wanted her to confirm some details of the wedding.

Evie answered for a long time and went back to sleep.

A few minutes later, she suddenly opened her eyes.

She wasn't sure if she had been dreaming just now, or if she had really received a call from Chloe.

She hurriedly grabbed her phone. Sure enough, it showed a call for more than a minute.

Evie quickly got up.

Damn it. She didn't even get up. She actually had the courage to continue staying in bed.

She got up in a hurry and went to the bathroom to wash up.

"Evie, this Saturday, you can't be lazy all morning!" Emily protested from the bed. "Go back to sleep. I have to go out!"

"Oh!" Emily answered.

Evie changed her clothes in a hurry. She took a bag and put in the textbook for Monday's exam so she could review at any time. She checked her wallet, phone, and keys. Then she grabbed her bag and went out.

As soon as she got downstairs, she received a call from Ethan Sterling.

"Evie, are you coming out or not? I'll be asleep soon!" Ethan complained on the other end of the phone.

"Where are you? What are you waiting for me to do?" Evie asked.

"No, don't you know I'm waiting to pick you up at the school gate to take you to my house?"

"Oh, oh, I've already come downstairs. I'll be out in a minute. Which school gate are you at?" Evie said in a hurry.

"Front gate!"

"Just a moment. I'll be right there!"

After Evie hung up the phone, she trotted all the way.

Chloe said on the phone that she would let Ethan come to pick her up?

She was still going to take a ride!

Fortunately, Ethan called her first. Otherwise, she would have missed him!

Evie trotted to the main school gate. She saw Ethan's flashy sports car parked not far away.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know you were coming to pick me up! I was going to take a ride directly!" After Evie got into the car, she fastened her seatbelt and explained to Ethan.

"I was just about to go out. My mother saw me and said to let me come and meet you first!" Ethan started the car and said.

"If you have something to do, you should go first. It doesn't matter if I take a ride by myself!" Evie said hastily.

"Let's go. If I don't send you to my home, my mother will talk about me when I go back!" Ethan said. After a while, he turned to Evie and asked with a smile, "I heard you were in the final exam!"

"Yes. These two weeks are the final exam!" Evie said.

"I almost forgot the feeling of taking an exam!"

"Aren't you in school?"

"I graduated many years ago!"

"Graduated from primary school!"

"How do you know?" Ethan smiled.

"How old are you? Besides graduating from primary school, what else have you graduated from for many years?"

She could figure it out with her toes!

"Graduated from kindergarten!"

Evie laughed.

"You and my little uncle are getting along very well now!"

"Very well!" Evie answered.

"Then I can rest assured!" Ethan breathed a sigh of relief.

Evie turned to Ethan and asked, "What does it have to do with you?"

"Of course it has to do with me. We can't be the queen of our family!" Ethan replied boldly.

"... Isn't there still you?" Evie was confused again.

"I'm gay. How many times do you want me to say it?" Ethan replied in silence.

"Don't get excited. Don't get excited. You can drive!" Evie quickly advised. She was afraid that Ethan would forget he was driving when he got excited!

The reason he was so excited was that he was driving.
