"You're driving perfectly fine. You're making a big deal out of nothing!" Ethan Sterling laughed.
"Fine, I didn't say a thing!" Evie had to reply.
After Evie was dropped off at Sterling Mansion, Ethan hurried off again.
Evie watched the sports car disappear from sight.
She thought about it. Ethan was rumored to be gay. Alexander was rumored to be gay. That only left two men in the Sterling family.
Who would carry on the next generation?
Oh, right. There were two daughters in the family, Audrey and Scarlett.
Their daughters could inherit the legacy too.
Once Evie thought it through, she suddenly felt indifferent.
She turned around and saw Chloe Ward's face.
"Chloe," Evie said.
"Good afternoon, little madam. The old lady sent me to escort you to Sterling Manor," Chloe replied with a smile.
"Alright," Evie answered.
She followed Chloe toward the direction of Sterling Manor.
It was a long walk from the entrance to the manor, but the scenery along the way was beautiful.
Evie couldn't help thinking that the rich really were different. Even their garden was this massive.
When they reached Sterling Manor, Eleanor Sterling and Rose Davenport were in the living room, discussing something. When they saw Evie, they asked her to sit down.
"Mother, sister-in-law," Evie walked over and greeted them respectfully.
"Evie, sit down. What kind of flowers do you like?" Eleanor asked, patting the seat beside her.
"Narcissus," Evie blurted out.
"What flower?" Eleanor didn't hear clearly.
"Narcissus. It's a winter flower. During the Spring Festival, we put them in the house. The whole room smells wonderful," Evie explained.
"Ah, you mean daffodils! We put them out every Spring Festival too. Your sister-in-law and I were just discussing what flowers would be best for your wedding with Gray," Eleanor explained with a smile.
"That sounds fine," Evie agreed.
But the next second, she realized that might have sounded too casual.
"I agree with your sister-in-law. Roses are a bit too common. Peonies are elegant, but they're too complicated. Winter plums seem a bit plain. Besides daffodils, what other flowers do you like?" Eleanor asked kindly.
"Tulips. Honestly, I don't know much about flowers. I'm not sure what's most suitable. You and sister-in-law can decide," Evie answered awkwardly.
She really hadn't studied flowers. All she knew were a few common types. Roses and lilies, the best-selling flowers at school. Carnations for Mother's Day.
And she liked daffodils because of their name. Every Spring Festival, her family would put out a few pots. She had loved their fragrance since she was a child.
This season was exactly the right time for daffodils to bloom.
"Mother, look. Gray and Evie's wedding gowns are both bright red. Our house will be decorated very festively. Adding daffodils seems like a good idea. The daffodil petals are milky white, the centers are yellow. They'll coordinate perfectly with the red," Rose said at this moment.
"I think that's a wonderful idea!" Eleanor laughed. She turned to Evie and asked, "Evie, what do you think?"
"Mother, are you talking about the bridal bouquet?" Evie asked, confused.
"No, our family is having a traditional Han-style wedding. We don't need a bridal bouquet. These flowers are for decoration," Eleanor explained.
"That sounds lovely and fragrant," Evie answered with a smile.
"Chloe, call the consultant this afternoon. I want to ask if there are any taboos," Eleanor instructed Chloe.
"Of course, madam," Chloe replied and went to make a phone call first.
After confirming the details of the wedding ceremony, Eleanor asked Evie, "Are you satisfied with the layout of the new house? Is there anything that needs to be changed?"
"It's very good. There's no need to change anything," Evie replied quickly.
Earlier, Chloe had taken her to Sterling Manor for a tour. She had also seen the wedding room.
Except for the pink mosquito net in the bedroom, everything was fine.
But the pink mosquito net wasn't completely unacceptable. It was better to leave things as they were than to trouble others.
"The time Chloe brought you to see it was a bit different from the current arrangement," Eleanor explained. "Chloe, take the young lady upstairs to have a look. See if there's anything she wants to change."
"Of course, madam," Chloe answered.
"Mother, sister-in-law, I'll go upstairs and take a look first," Evie had to reply.
Honestly, she wanted to say she didn't need to see it. As long as Gray liked it, that was enough.
But since Eleanor had said so, it seemed inappropriate not to go up and have a look.
She had to follow Chloe upstairs to visit the wedding room again.
Chloe opened the door and asked Evie to come in.
"Please, young lady."
Evie saw that the pink mosquito net was gone. It had been replaced with a light yellow one.
The style of the new house seemed to have changed too.
Before, it had looked a bit like a princess room. This time, it was warm and elegant.
"Young lady, is there anything else you'd like to adjust?"
"No, this is perfect. I really like it," Evie replied with a smile.
Between the two styles, she definitely preferred this one.
"The fourth young master is really good to you, young lady. He insisted on this change. He said he didn't like the previous style and layout. Actually, the old lady thought it wasn't festive enough. She wasn't very satisfied. But the fourth young master insisted on this. The old lady had to go along with him," Chloe whispered to Evie.
"Oh," Evie answered.
She was a little surprised. Gray actually knew what she liked and disliked.
Or was it just a coincidence?
Evie was confused at this moment. She turned to ask Chloe, "Should I change it back or not?"
Eleanor had asked her to come see the wedding room. Was it to make her feel dissatisfied, so she would change the style back to big red and big pink?
"Young lady, if you like it, that's what matters," Chloe laughed. "This is your and the fourth young master's wedding room. It's up to you."
"I'm fine with it. Just let Gray be satisfied," Evie had to answer.
She wasn't a picky person. She was easygoing.
Even though she hadn't really liked the pink arrangement before, it wasn't completely unacceptable.
Anyway, the bedroom was just a place to sleep. As long as the bed was comfortable, she didn't care about anything else.
After going downstairs, Eleanor asked her if she was still satisfied.
Evie said awkwardly, "It's very good."
She thought to herself, should I say good or bad?
Eleanor nodded and said, "As long as you and Gray like it."
Clearly, she wasn't insisting on changing it back to the original style.
Then Eleanor explained some things to Evie. Regular work and rest hours. No smoking or drinking. Pay attention to her diet. Take good care of her body. Be a beautiful bride at that time.
Evie didn't know if she wanted to be a beautiful bride or not. She actually felt that this wasn't about being a beautiful bride. It was about preparing for childbirth.
Pia. The next second, she threw that thought out of her mind.
She was thinking too much.
At noon, Evie stayed at home for lunch.
Only three people were at the table. Her, Eleanor, and Rose. Just the three daughters-in-law of the Sterling family.
