Evelyn and Alexander went to her parents' house together.
Knowing Evelyn would come back in the evening, Amelia went to the market in the morning to buy vegetables. She also went to the spice shop to get a lot of stewing ingredients.
After returning home, she worried that pregnant women couldn't eat certain foods. She even called Victoria to ask if she knew an obstetrician. She wanted to know what kind of food was safe for a pregnant woman.
Victoria called a friend who happened to be a doctor in the OB-GYN department. As a result, the friend thought Victoria was pregnant. She almost fainted from laughing.
"I'm not even married yet!" Victoria replied, annoyed.
"It's normal to get on the bus first and buy the ticket later these days!" the friend laughed.
"It's not me!" Victoria shot back.
"Don't say that too soon!"
"Luke Mitchell, do you want to fight or what?"
"Good men don't fight with women!" Luke said with a grin. "I'm just kidding. Don't mind me! Your sister is pregnant, right? Honestly, you don't have to avoid too many things. Just watch out for a few specific foods.
I'll send you a list of foods pregnant women shouldn't eat. For everything else, she can eat whatever she wants!"
"Thanks in advance!" Victoria replied.
Soon, her email received the food list from Luke.
She printed it out specially. She planned to take it to her mother in the evening. That way, her mother could follow the doctor's advice and not accidentally harm Evelyn.
When they arrived at her parents' house, her mother Amelia scanned Evelyn up and down. She looked puzzled.
"I can't even see it yet?"
"Mom, it's been less than two months. What do you expect to see?" Evelyn replied, half laughing, half crying.
"Oh, right!" Amelia suddenly realized.
That night, Evelyn noticed her mother seemed a little nervous.
"Mom, you're not the one pregnant. Why are you more nervous than me?"
"That's true. When I was pregnant with you and your sister, I wasn't this nervous!" Amelia glanced at Evelyn. "Did the doctor say anything special?"
"I told you this morning, Mom!" Evelyn sighed.
It seemed her mother was not only too nervous, but also forgetful.
"Oh, I forgot again!"
"Mom, you don't have to be so nervous. Alexander takes good care of me. They even have a family doctor. If I feel uncomfortable, I just call him. It'll be fine."
"When you feel uncomfortable, it'll be too late!" Amelia glared at Evelyn. "You're in the early stage now. You need to be extra careful in every way.
Also, did you feel tired at work today? Sitting in front of the computer all day must be exhausting. Don't worry about me, Mom. If someone hadn't reminded me, I wouldn't even know I was pregnant!" Evelyn comforted her for a long time.
"Who reminded you? When you're pregnant, you don't know. How could someone else know?"
"It's strange to say. I went to a company to deliver something. Then I met a man in the elevator. He told me pregnant women shouldn't carry heavy things. I thought he was weird. Later, he told me to go to the hospital for a checkup. Then a person I knew told me he was a famous traditional Chinese medicine doctor!
So I went to the hospital for an exam. And I really was pregnant!
Isn't that magical?"
"Traditional Chinese medicine is deep and profound. Do you know that doctor?" Amelia asked excitedly.
"Mom, I don't know that man. I just happened to meet him.
Dad, what's wrong with your health?" Evelyn asked, changing the subject.
"Nothing serious. Just poor sleep quality and too much internal heat. The doctor told him not to be too impatient. He needs to rest and exercise more."
"Then you should tell Dad. Nothing is more important than his health. You can never earn all the money in the world!"
"Well, you don't want to pay back the ten million you owe the family."
"Don't worry. It's Alexander's money. It doesn't matter if we don't pay it back!"
"Then I'll persuade your father. We'll pay the money back, but we'll do it slowly. Don't rush.
Isn't there me? If Dad can't finish it, I can earn money to pay it back!"
"Silly girl. If your father wanted you to pay it back, you wouldn't have to work so hard now.
But he should be told not to rush for a year or two!" Amelia nodded.
"Okay. I'll talk to Dad later!" Evelyn responded.
After chatting with her mother for a while, Amelia urged her to go back early.
"Mom, why do you always rush me every time I come home?" Evelyn couldn't help asking.
"I'm worried about you going back too late! Go back early and rest early. You're two people now, not alone. You need to think about my grandchild as well as yourself."
"It could be a granddaughter!" Evelyn laughed.
"Do you know now?" Amelia asked curiously.
"No. Anyway, it's a fifty-fifty chance for a boy or a girl, right?" Evelyn said with a smile.
"That's true. But the Sterling family probably wants more boys. No matter how many boys or girls you have!"
"Mom, you're the one who prefers boys. Alexander doesn't care!" Evelyn said with a smile.
"Just because he doesn't say it doesn't mean he doesn't care. If you care about the family, you'll definitely prefer boys. But it doesn't matter if you have boys or girls. If you have more, you'll always have a son!"
"Mom, you're treating me like a sow!" Evelyn replied, a little annoyed.
"What kind of talk is that? Many sons mean many blessings!" Amelia shot Evelyn a look.
Evelyn stuck out her tongue and laughed.
"Then I'll go talk to my sister!"
With that, Evelyn got up and walked to her sister Victoria's bedroom.
After knocking, Evelyn twisted the door handle and went in. She saw her sister surfing the internet.
"Sister, I'm going back!"
"So early!" Victoria got up and came over.
"Yes. Mom told me to go back early!" Evelyn said with a smile.
"She wants you to go back and rest early. You're a national treasure now!"
"No! I'll go back first!"
"Okay. Take care of yourself. Don't act like a child anymore!"
"I know!" Evelyn was about to leave, then turned back to gossip. "By the way, sister, how are you and Aiden now?"
"Aiden? What are you yelling about?" Victoria gave her a look.
"Did you quarrel with Aiden Fisher?" Evelyn asked.
"No!" Victoria answered, a little agitated.
"What happened?" Evelyn asked.
"Nothing. It's boring. How can two people not even have a chance to fight when they're together?"
"Maybe you're in a love period!"
"It's hard to even meet someone when you're in love!" Victoria couldn't help rolling her eyes.
"He must be very busy with sales, sister. You should be more understanding!" Evelyn comforted.
"No matter how busy he is, Alexander isn't that busy. I don't know what he's doing all day!" Victoria said, speechless.
