"Oh!" Evie finally answered after a long pause.

She washed her hands and sat down at the tea table.

She opened the lunchbox. Inside, the vegetables, rice, and soup were all separated. It looked clean and refreshing.

"The food today is really rich!" Evie said happily.

There were shrimp, crab, and vegetables. The soup was her favorite, too.

"That's mine. Your nutritious meal is the other one!" Alexander looked up and said with a smile.

"Huh? Why is mine different from yours?" Evie asked, disappointed.

"Because I'm not pregnant, so I don't have to avoid certain foods!" Alexander raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe mine tastes better than yours!" Evie snorted. She picked up the other insulated bag and took out the lunchbox.

The result was indeed different from Alexander's.

It was stir-fried celery with tofu, tomato and egg soup, steamed fish, and cabbage hearts. It looked like a vegetarian meal!

This was Alexander's favorite light flavor!

"Why is my food so bland? There aren't even any shrimp!" Evie pouted.

"Seafood is cold in nature. Pregnant women shouldn't eat too much of it." Alexander got up, walked over, and answered.

"Oh!" Evie replied, a little disappointed.

She bit into a cabbage heart with some resentment. The next second, she blinked. It didn't taste that bad.

Forget it. For the baby's sake, she would make do.

After all, the baby's development was more important than her current cravings!

After washing his hands, Alexander came back and sat down next to Evie.

"Why do you think your portion is mine?"

"Yeah, I think so too! Your portion is exactly what I like to eat!" Evie glanced at him and replied.

Alexander laughed but said nothing. He started peeling the shrimp. When he was done, he put them into Evie's bowl.

"I don't want it! I don't want it!" Evie said hurriedly.

"It's okay to eat a little bit!"

"No, it's not okay at all. I need to start watching my diet now. You can't tempt me!" Evie finished speaking and scooped the shrimp back onto Alexander's plate.

"Tell Lily to prepare the same thing for me tomorrow!"

"You're not pregnant!" Evie shot him a look.

"Can't I experience my wife's hardship?" Alexander said with a smile.

"Hmph, as if you could ever understand!"

Alexander looked at Evie and smiled.

"I'll listen to you from now on. Don't be angry. Eat your meal properly."

"I'm not angry. I'm not as petty as you are!" Evie retorted.

"Fine, fine. I'm petty. You eat more!" Alexander coaxed.

"I want to go home tonight!" Evie said, changing the subject abruptly.

"Why do you want to go home?" Alexander asked, stunned.

"Of course, because the food at home is better. My mom knows I'm pregnant. She's already preparing things to nourish me!" Evie replied smugly.

It was good to have a mother who cared!

"Oh!" Alexander answered.

He had thought Evie was angry with him and planning to run back to her mother's house.

After eating half her meal, Evie turned and asked Alexander.

"What happened with Grace?"

"I don't know the details. Something about a gastric hemorrhage."

"How did it get so serious?"

"Maybe it has something to do with her drinking heavily all the time."

"How do you know she drinks heavily all the time?" Evie asked casually.

She said this and put down her chopsticks, staring at Alexander.

"Why does it sound like you're interrogating a traitor?"

"I'm just asking!" Evie said.

"It was Owen who told me. They hang out a lot."

"Oh!"

"Some things are over when they're over. It's not as complicated as you think." Alexander replied and continued eating.

"I wasn't thinking anything!" Evie retorted.

"You must have been thinking about it again last night."

"Your behavior makes it hard for people not to think about other things!" Evie said bluntly.

"What behavior of mine?" Alexander asked with great interest.

"You know best what you do!"

"It's not necessarily true. Sometimes the person involved is confused. If you give me some advice, my wife, I won't do it again!" Alexander pressed on.

Evie turned her head and glanced at him.

"Then go home and write a self-criticism. When you're done writing it, I'll forgive you!"

Alexander was stunned for a moment.

Evie was holding back a laugh in her heart. She never thought she'd see the day Alexander would be in this position. But now wasn't the time to laugh!

Alexander looked at Evie, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

"Then you have to at least give me a direction for the criticism. Otherwise, I don't even know what I did wrong!"

"If you did something wrong and you still don't know where you're wrong, that's adding to your mistakes. Write two copies!" Evie responded boldly.

So this was what it felt like to be the boss!

No wonder everyone liked being in charge!

"Alright, say a few words, as long as you're happy!" Alexander had to give in.

"Give it to me tonight!"

"I want to go to your parents' house for dinner tonight!"

"My mom wants to nourish my body, not yours. Forget it, you can come back with me too. Then give it to me tomorrow night!" Evie thought for a moment and answered.

"Alright, whatever my wife says goes!"

"Don't think sweet talk can buy me off. My will is unshakable!" Evie answered, holding her head high.

"Yes, my wife cannot be bought!" Alexander nodded with a smile.

Evie smiled too and continued eating, ignoring Alexander.

After lunch, they sat for a while. Then Evie took a nap in Alexander's lounge.

Now that their relationship was public, there was one advantage. She could stay with Alexander without worrying about what others might think.

Of course, there were a lot more troubles too. But overall, it seemed okay. It wasn't so hard to accept.

Emily had been much busier since she signed the contract. She had no time to talk.

Basically, if Evie wanted to have dinner with her, she had to make an appointment in advance. Otherwise, Emily was out on business, sometimes eating out directly.

Evie, on the other hand, was relatively relaxed. Although she was busy, she seemed to have fewer opportunities to go out.

In the past, she used to deliver documents, materials, and gifts. Now, she only went out once or twice a week. Most of the time, she stayed in the secretarial office.

If it weren't for the alarm, Evie would have overslept.

She always felt like she had just fallen asleep, but it was almost an hour later!

After lying in bed for a few minutes, Evie finally got up.

When she came out of the lounge, Alexander looked up at her and asked.

"Why don't you sleep a little longer?"

"I'm late for work!" Evie muttered.

"It's better to work on my side!"

"What? How can that be!" Evie said, going to wash her face to wake up.

Coming out of the bathroom, Evie asked Alexander.

"I'm going out to work. Do you want to go back with me tonight, or come later?"

"About seven o'clock. I'll go with you." Alexander said after checking his calendar.

"Oh, okay!" Evie answered. She left Alexander's office and went back to the secretarial office to work.
