"That's true. Being plain is safer. But sometimes I still think money matters. My dad got sick a while back. The medical bills drained us. We borrowed from every relative. I felt like the whole world was crashing down on me." Stella answered with a weak smile.

"How is your father now?" Emily turned to Stella and asked.

"He's out of the hospital. Much better now."

"That's good. Good people find a way. You can always earn the money back." Emily nodded.

"Yeah. I want to find a good internship now. If I can get a direct offer, that would be perfect. I'll send money home once I start earning."

"Good luck! Let's work hard together!"

"Good luck!" Stella nodded with a smile.

When Evie got into the car, she saw Alexander sitting in the back seat.

"I thought you weren't coming!" Evie said with a smile.

"Aren't you afraid I'd come to pick you up?" Alexander asked with a grin.

Evie felt awkward for a moment. "I'm not afraid you'd come. I just don't know how to introduce you."

"I'll say I'm your boyfriend if I run into your classmates." Alexander said with a smile.

"But Emily knows you!"

"So what? You're interning at the company. If Emily finds out about us, I'll have to explain everything. That's too much trouble."

"So because you're afraid of trouble, you've been reluctant to give me a title, haven't you?"

"That's not it. I said I'd make it public after graduation!" Evie muttered.

"Just be happy." Alexander said.

"I'm sorry!" Evie couldn't help apologizing to him.

"What for?"

"For not giving you a title."

As soon as Evie finished, Alexander laughed.

"It's fine. I'll keep a tab. You can pay me back double in the future."

"Okay!" Evie nodded with a smile.

But she wondered how she could ever make it up to him.

Was this her husband?

Would people think she was crazy?

Evie leaned against Alexander and thought about how he always insisted on picking her up. It must be exhausting.

"Alexander, if you're busy in the future, you don't have to pick me up. I'll call the driver."

"Are you trying to take away my chance to show off?"

"But you come to pick me up every time. Isn't it tiring?" Evie pouted.

"Only this way can I prove I'm a good husband." Alexander raised an eyebrow and smiled.

"You're too good. It makes me look too bad." Evie couldn't help replying.

Alexander was too perfect. It only highlighted her flaws. Sometimes she felt inferior. Such a good Alexander, she didn't deserve him.

"One person in our family is responsible for being excellent." Alexander said with a smile, stroking Evie's neck.

Evie was a little ticklish and pulled his hand down. Alexander did it again after a moment. Evie had to let him be.

Then she thought about what he said. One person in our family is responsible for being excellent.

So she blurted out a question, "Are you excellent, or am I?"

Alexander turned his head to look at Evie and asked with a smile, "What do you think?"

"Then you shouldn't be too excellent!" Evie replied with a smile.

Alexander caressed Evie's neck and stared at her with a smile, but he didn't say anything.

After returning home, Evie thought to ask Alexander, "Alexander, have you eaten dinner?"

"If I said I didn't eat, would you feel a little guilty?"

"If you didn't eat, I wouldn't feel guilty. I'd be angry!" Evie pouted.

"I was having dinner when you sent me a message at seven. Oyster sauce beef set meal. The taste wasn't great. Not as good as your hot and sour beef." Alexander said with a smile.

"I'll cook hot and sour beef for you tomorrow!" Evie laughed.

She thought Alexander was pitiful too.

Working overtime was hard. And he couldn't even get a decent meal.

Alexander nodded. After a while, he asked, "When does your internship start?"

"Next Monday!" Evie answered.

"Do a good job."

"Of course!" Evie nodded seriously.

Then she laughed at herself.

On Monday, Evie got up early. Today was the first day of her internship. She had to perform well. She couldn't be late.

"Sleep a little more!" Alexander hugged her back.

"No, I have to go to work today." Evie said hurriedly.

"What work?" Alexander was still half asleep.

"Today is the first day of my internship. I need to be at the company before 8:30." Evie explained.

"I get to the company by eight." Alexander muttered.

"You're the boss!" Evie said with a smile. Just as she was about to get up, Alexander pulled her back.

"People who go to work at eight aren't in a hurry. What are you in a hurry for?" Alexander replied calmly.

Evie immediately pouted and muttered, "After you get up, you have breakfast and go to work. I still have a lot to do!"

"What's the difference?" Alexander asked.

"Of course there's a difference. You don't have to do your makeup. You don't have to pack your bag. You don't have to catch a ride. That saves a lot of time."

"I'll drop you off on my way to work."

"Ah? No, no. I'll just go to work by myself!" Evie was stunned for a moment. The next second, she shook her head.

An intern, on the first day of work, asked her boss to drop her off at the company. Did she still need to work after that?

"Is it bad for me to drop you off at work?" Alexander approached Evie and asked.

"It's not bad. It's just that you go to work at eight, and I go to work at 8:30. Our times are different. I can go later." Evie felt awkward for a long time and made up an excuse.

"Since that's the case—"

"Yes, yes. So you go to work first. You don't have to send me!" Evie replied with a flattering smile.

"I'll adjust my work schedule to 8:30 from now on. It's better to go to work with you." Alexander continued.

"Ah?" Evie suddenly froze. She thought she heard wrong.

Could it really be like this?

The boss was too unethical!

What should she do next? Alexander wasn't someone who could be easily changed.

He looked like a good communicator on the surface.

But deep down, he was extremely stubborn and headstrong!

In the end, Evie had to ask Alexander to drop her off at work because she was going to be late.

On the first day, she was late for work!

After thinking about it, Evie felt that her future internship life was extremely bleak!

Evie sat in the back seat with her hands on her knees. Her body was stiff.

She didn't know if it was because she was nervous and excited about the first day of her internship, or because she was going to be late.

Later, Alexander joked that he specially drove her to work. If the salary was right, she could continue. If it wasn't, she'd better stay home and be idle!

Evie asked, how much was right?

Alexander casually said that as a newbie, even 5,000 was fine.

Evie didn't know how to answer. Her sister's salary wasn't even 5,000 now.

Alexander lectured Evie for a long time, saying that she was Mrs. Sterling and couldn't be so low.

Evie muttered that she had to be practical. Besides, she was still an intern.

Alexander's words, "No low salary, only incompetent people," left Evie speechless.

"Do you know how much my salary is?" Evie later looked at Alexander and asked.

"I don't know!" Alexander glanced at Evie and replied calmly.

"Aren't you the boss of Sterling Group?" Evie blurted out.
