"Amelia, wait here. I'll bring our brother out."
Benjamin patted Amelia's shoulder, trying to calm her down. Then he prepared to rush into the building that was gradually being consumed by the sea of flames. But through the thick smoke, he spotted a tall, straight figure slowly emerging. The man wore only a white shirt, his jacket draped over the woman he carried in his arms. The woman appeared to be asleep, her eyes shut tight.
"Liam."
Amelia screamed, her voice breaking. Christopher could no longer hold her back. He released Amelia, finally letting out a sigh of relief. He knew that with the CEO's skills, even a blazing inferno wouldn't trap him.
Freed, Amelia immediately ran toward Liam. But she was forced to stop a meter away because of Emma in Liam's arms. Staring at the unconscious woman, Amelia nearly ground her teeth to dust. She thought Emma had incredible luck. In such danger, she came out unscathed. Fortunately, her brother hadn't been dragged down by her. Otherwise, even if Emma died, Amelia would never forgive her.
Seeing Liam emerge safe and sound, Benjamin felt relieved. But he didn't show it in front of Liam. His handsome face remained cold and stern. Christopher noticed and couldn't help sighing. He wondered how the CEO and his brother had ended up like this.
"Liam, are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Amelia looked at Liam with tears in her eyes, all traces of her earlier fierce coldness gone. Liam simply nodded lightly at her.
A figure in white suddenly appeared. Liam turned and saw Elijah. His handsome face darkened.
Elijah didn't care. His eyes were practically glued to Emma's body. He watched her sleeping face, unsure how serious her condition was.
"Move aside. Emma needs medical attention."
Liam's cold voice was as icy as Arctic snow. Elijah clenched his fists, but out of concern for Emma, he held back. He silently stepped aside, and Liam immediately carried Emma onto the ambulance.
Isabella and Emilia, already inside the ambulance, saw the woman in Liam's arms. Even though they couldn't see her face because of the jacket, they knew it could only be Emma.
"Cousin—is she alright?"
Isabella's voice didn't sound relieved; it carried a tone of disbelief. Emilia pursed her lips tightly, her eyes flickering with unknown thoughts.
The next moment, as if by agreement, the two women stepped out of the ambulance one after another. Isabella, still holding a blanket, walked to the open ambulance door.
"Cousin, how is she? Is she okay? I was so worried."
Isabella's voice sounded like she was about to cry. Her eyes showed concern as she craned her neck to see what had happened to Emma.
"Mr. Williams, thank goodness. Emma is fine. I've been praying to God. Emma is such a good person; she had to be okay."
Emilia clasped her hands together, holding them to her chest, her eyes full of care.
Liam, who had been focused entirely on Emma, lifted his head and gave them a brief glance.
That single glance made them feel cold all over, as if they had been frozen solid. Compared to the bitter winter outside, this chill was far more intense.
"Since you care so much, why didn't you stay with her when she was left outside the elevator?"
Liam's voice was so calm it was almost emotionless. Isabella and Emilia felt an unprecedented tension and fear, but the man didn't look at them again. He coldly ordered the nurse to close the ambulance door.
He didn't say anything else, but it made the two women's hearts grow uneasy. That look was too terrifying, as if it burned with a dark flame, and they were nothing but ants to him. Though he usually didn't care, once angered, he could destroy them in an instant.
"Mr. Williams must be angry because he cares about Emma, right?"
After standing still for a long time, Emilia spoke with difficulty. The man's sharp eyes seemed to pierce through her. Aside from her boss, she had never been so afraid.
"Of course, my cousin cares about me so much. But once my cousin is ready, everything will be fine."
Isabella said this to Emilia, but also to reassure herself.
Liam didn't order the ambulance to take Emma to the hospital. Instead, he brought her back to Sunrise Manor. He had already called Dr. Moore on the way. By the time the ambulance arrived at the door, Dr. Moore was already there.
Elijah followed in his car the entire way. Now, Liam was focused solely on Emma and ignored Elijah, who entered without permission.
"Mrs. Williams is fine. She's just weak, so she needs proper rest and care," Dr. Moore said after examining Emma. Elijah had been observing during the examination and almost agreed with Dr. Moore's words, but his warm eyes were still full of worry.
Amelia stood by the door, her heart full of resentment. She thought Emma had only inhaled more smoke than her, yet her brother had called a doctor to check on her. But until now, he hadn't thought to ask Dr. Moore to look at her. Her eyes flickered, and Amelia bit her lower lip lightly.
The sound of a heavy object hitting the floor came from the doorway, followed by the maid's exclamation. Everyone's attention turned to Amelia, who seemed to have fainted on the ground.
"Amelia. Dr. Moore, check on Amelia immediately."
Benjamin had also returned to Sunrise Manor because he was worried about Amelia. Sure enough, she had fainted now. If Liam had asked the doctor to see Amelia first, she might have been fine. Emma had been unconscious the whole time, and even if she were seen, she wouldn't wake up immediately. Liam had truly lost his head over that woman.
"Dr. Moore, go see the young lady."
By now, Benjamin had already picked up Amelia, but Liam didn't get up. His eyes were still fixed on Emma's face. He took a brief look at the unconscious Amelia and immediately spoke to Dr. Moore.
"Yes, young master."
Dr. Moore followed Benjamin back to Amelia's room. A slender jade hand hanging by Liam's leg suddenly clenched tightly for a long time.
