Chapter 430

"You keep putting Emma in danger. You don't deserve to be her husband."

Elijah Clark's cold gaze fell on Liam Williams, and the air in the room turned icy. Two maids stood by the open door, waiting for Liam's orders. They suddenly felt a chill, as if it seeped from the cracks in their bones, and they involuntarily shrank back.

They hadn't expected that such a gentle doctor could be so terrifying when angry. He was no less intimidating than their young master. It seemed he truly cared deeply for the young mistress.

But this wasn't appropriate.

Yet the young master was right in front of them. They remained silent, not daring to speak.

"You're just an outsider. You have no right to interfere in our marriage. Mr. White, please escort Dr. Clark out. My wife needs to rest now."

Liam's voice was cold and calm, but it carried a biting chill. Mr. White stood by the door and politely asked Elijah to leave. Elijah's fiery nature refused to yield, but his gaze inadvertently fell on Emma Johnson's face. Though she was unconscious, her brow was furrowed. Whether from genuine disturbance or not, her expression looked pained. Elijah's heart tightened. He knew that what Emma needed most now was rest, so he reluctantly left for the time being.

Everything is for Emma's well-being, Elijah comforted himself. But it was hard to suppress the bitterness in his heart. The woman he loved was still unconscious, yet he could only watch another man stay by her side. His eyes burned with cold resentment.

He truly couldn't accept this.

Dr. Moore examined Amelia White and found her condition better than the young mistress's. However, seeing the worried look on Benjamin Williams's face, it was hard to tell him that the young lady was actually fine. Her sudden fainting might have been caused by temporary dizziness.

"She was probably frightened in the building earlier and hasn't recovered yet," Dr. Moore said to Benjamin, handing him a box of sedatives. He instructed Benjamin to give Amelia two pills when she woke up. Benjamin agreed and asked many questions. Dr. Moore patiently answered each one before leaving.

Half an hour later, Amelia woke up. Her eyes were full of confusion as she looked at Benjamin, who had been watching over her.

"Second brother? How am I in my own room?"

"You just fainted. I brought you here."

Benjamin looked at Amelia with concern in his eyes. Amelia felt a deep resentment in her heart. Was her eldest brother still guarding Emma, not even coming to see her?

But her face remained pure and innocent, making people unable to help but pity her.

"Oh, I fainted. How is sister-in-law now? I need to go see her."

With that, Amelia opened the blanket and was about to get out of bed. Benjamin quickly stopped her and made her lie back down.

"That woman has our eldest brother by her side. If we go, I'm afraid he'll kick us out. You're not in good health. You should take care of yourself first. By the way, this is the sedative Dr. Moore prescribed. Take it."

As he spoke, he placed two white pills into Amelia's hand.

Amelia took them obediently, then suddenly remembered something and said to Benjamin, "Second brother, I'm a little hungry. Please ask the kitchen to prepare some food for me."

Benjamin thought she must be hungry after such a long time. So he nodded to Amelia.

"Take the medicine first. I'll go downstairs and have the kitchen prepare something for you."

Then he got up and left the room temporarily. The moment he closed the door, Amelia took out a piece of paper from a box of drawing paper beside the bed cabinet, wrapped the pills in it, and threw them into the nearby trash can.

A slight curve formed at the corner of her mouth, looking somewhat chilling.

Outside the window, the cold wind was like a knife, and frost and snow filled the sky. It howled like a monster, rattling the windowpanes.

Emma Johnson vaguely opened her eyes from the darkness, feeling that her head still hurt. Before she could see where she was, she reached out and rubbed her temples.

But soon a slender hand came over, replacing her weak hand, and rubbed her temples with moderate pressure. Emma felt a little comfortable and let out a sigh.

"Does your head hurt?"

The magnetic voice coming from beside her was like mellow wine, full of concern. Emma turned her eyes and looked at Liam. Seeing his handsome face, she felt relieved. It seemed that not only was Liam okay, but she had also been rescued in time. It had been truly dangerous.

"Which firefighter rescued me? When I feel better tomorrow, I must thank them in person."

Emma's voice sounded a bit hoarse, the result of inhaling smoke. After all, she had been unconscious in the corridor alone for a long time and had breathed in a lot of smoke.

"Why must it be a firefighter?" Liam rubbed Emma's temples, looking at her delicate face.

"Who else but the firefighters?" Besides, Emma really couldn't think of anyone else.

"It was me. But I was still late, Emma. Do you blame me for leaving you behind?"

Liam's eyes were full of remorse, almost making Emma think she was still unconscious and that the person she saw was just a mirage. How could Liam show such an expression? And she had never thought of blaming him.

"Why would I? Didn't you go to Amelia? But when I ran to the fourth floor, I heard Amelia's voice. Unfortunately, the passage was blocked, and I was choked by the smoke. By the time I could speak, I couldn't hear you anymore. How is Amelia now? You saved her in time, right? She should be fine, shouldn't she?"

Even though she had a bad relationship with Amelia, she didn't want anything to happen to her.

If she had been angry with him, Liam would have felt better at that moment. But she wasn't. Instead, she kept asking about Amelia's condition. Although Amelia was his own sister, Liam regretted leaving Emma behind. If Emma had been by his side, how could he have let her have such a dangerous accident?

"By the way, what about Isabella and Emilia? Are they all safe? Were there any casualties in the company?"

Emma asked, her face full of worry. Looking at her, Liam felt a pang of sadness.
