Chapter 200

The cold was unbearable.

Emma Johnson woke up in a damp chill, her body trembling uncontrollably. She found herself lying on the freezing, wet ground.

Her hands were stuck together, tightly bound with tape. Her mouth was also sealed. When she tried to use her hands to tear it off, she realized her fingers were glued together and couldn't move at all.

What was happening?

Had she been kidnapped again?

The thought crossed Emma's mind, but she didn't see any sign of kidnappers around. She struggled to get up from the ground, remembering she had passed out because of that woman with the umbrella in the rain. It must have something to do with her.

But the priority, the most important thing, was that she needed to get out of here.

A white light suddenly appeared in the distance, making Emma squint. She saw what seemed to be a figure at the end of the light. Could it be Liam?

Would he notice she was missing and come looking for her?

Emma didn't know why she thought of him first, but she ran toward the light without hesitation. It was the only source of hope she had so far.

She tried to run, but her head started to feel dizzy. Finally, she reached the light, only to discover sadly that it was just a dummy made of branches and clothes.

And at the top of the dummy, a flashlight was tied. That was the light that had misled her.

"Do you feel desperate?"

Suddenly, a female voice reached Emma's ears. She turned around and saw the woman with the umbrella standing in front of her.

Emma couldn't speak. The tip of a knife in the woman's right hand glinted coldly in the light.

Emma stared at the woman with wide eyes. She wanted to ask what grudge she had against her, why she had knocked her out and tied her up in this place.

"You don't have to look at me like that. We shouldn't know each other, but who told you to marry Liam Williams?"

The woman toyed with the fruit knife in her hand. Although she looked calm, Emma still caught the madness in her eyes.

Hearing Emma's muffled whimper, the woman's lips curled into a cold smile. She slowly approached like a hunter closing in on its prey.

"You must want to know why I did this. Well, since you're about to die, I'll let you know. Six months ago, Liam sent my husband to prison. He was sentenced to death. At that time, we had only been married for less than two months. My baby, who I was only pregnant with for a little over a month, was also lost. Do you think Liam is cruel? Should he be punished?"

The woman gritted her teeth as she told the whole story. Emma could even hear the sound of her upper and lower teeth grinding together.

If she wasn't filled with extreme hatred, how could she be so agitated?

But Liam wasn't unreasonable. If there was no reason, how could he have sent this woman's husband to prison?

Emma was very confused. After all, it had been more than half a year since Liam returned from the army. How could he do what the police did?

But now Emma couldn't think carefully, because the woman was getting closer. She gradually felt that her life was under an unprecedented threat.

"Don't worry, I'll make you die happily. You won't feel much pain. I just want Liam to know what it's like to lose his beloved. I want him to spend the rest of his life in pain. Because you died because of him."

"Unfortunately, that wish won't come true."

Just as the woman was about to stab the knife into Emma's heart, Liam's cold voice came from behind her. Emma saw Christopher quickly knock the fruit knife out of the woman's hand, then control her.

But Liam rushed to Emma's side and embraced her, who was about to faint.

"I'm sorry I'm late."

Liam's voice was a bit hoarse and full of regret. Emma wanted to talk to him, to ask how he had found her.

But her mouth was tightly sealed, so she couldn't speak at all. Especially since her head was getting heavier and heavier, making it very difficult to stay awake.

"Ah, Liam, I'll kill you!"

The woman's hands were twisted behind her back by Christopher, but she was still crazy. Her hysterical appearance made her seem a bit terrifying.

"Is your husband Arthur Wright?"

Liam frowned and looked at the woman.

"Yes, my husband was killed by you, you villain. You pay for my husband's life."

Although the woman was weak, her madness gave her strength. Christopher had to work hard to control her. Fortunately, the police had been informed and would arrive soon. Otherwise, it would be very difficult to hold her without handcuffs.

"Villain?"

Liam's mouth was hard and cold, and his eyes stared at the woman indifferently.

"He sold illegal drugs from abroad to this country, killing 106 people and damaging thousands of others to varying degrees. Such a big crime, he should pay with his own life. Why, do you think those innocent people are more damned than your husband?"

When Emma heard what Liam said, she remembered a sensational case that happened half a year ago. The culprit had killed many people. Her father and mother had said angrily at the dinner table that it was too light to let that man repay so many lives with just one.

Unexpectedly, it was this woman's husband. So he wasn't innocent. That man really deserved to die. What made Emma feel a little strange was that Liam was also one of the people handling the case.

"No, my husband is innocent. He wouldn't do that. How could he do such a thing when he was so gentle to me and friendly to people on weekdays? It's you. It's you damned police who framed my husband to solve the case in the shortest time. Pity that he died in prison in vain. I'll fight with you."

The woman was like a dying fish out of water, unable to stop for a moment.

Christopher finally got the signal from Liam. He struck the woman on the shoulder and neck. The woman's eyes rolled, and finally she stopped struggling and fainted.

"It seems this woman has gone crazy."

Liam stared at the fainting woman and said thoughtfully to himself.
