Chapter 199

The last person she wanted to see was that arrogant Amelia White.

If Liam was in love with his sister, so be it. It was a nuisance to stay there anyway. Better to be out of sight.

Emma made up her mind, but she overlooked one problem: the weather.

An hour later, darkness was falling. She was trapped in her room, staring at the torrential rain outside the window, wondering when it would stop.

The moment the rain stopped, she would go down the mountain, even if she had to walk.

Emma thought this while suddenly sneezing. She worried she might be catching a cold.

That wouldn't be good. Once she caught a cold, she'd be stuck in bed for at least a week. And she wasn't even fully awake yet.

So she went downstairs to find Christopher Martin or one of the company employees to see if anyone had cold medicine. She wanted to prevent it.

When she came downstairs, she didn't see Liam. He must have gone to the other villa. That was fine with Emma. She didn't want to see him anyway.

Just as she was about to close the villa door, she suddenly saw a woman standing under a locust tree with an umbrella not far away. Looking at her back, she wondered if she was an employee of Liam's company.

Who else would come up here at this time?

As if sensing Emma's gaze, the woman turned around. Emma smiled politely at her, thinking that although she didn't recognize her, she must be an employee of Liam's company.

The woman walked over to her with a smile, holding an umbrella. Emma noticed one of her hands was in her pocket. As the woman approached, Emma was about to speak when she suddenly saw the woman pull a bottle out of her pocket.

Before Emma could react, the woman raised the bottle and sprayed it at her. Emma's eyes uncontrollably closed, and in an instant, she fell to the ground, unconscious.

The woman stared at Emma lying on the ground. The cold light in her eyes made her shiver. The smile on her lips was even more frightening.

The rain continued to fall, and no one knew when it would stop.

In the other villa, in Christopher Martin's room.

Liam sat on the sofa while Christopher stood behind him, applying medicine to his back. Christopher felt very speechless inside. How fierce had the fight been to break a cup and scratch his back?

"It's done, sir."

Liam replied faintly and got up to put on his shirt. Seeing that the rain outside wasn't as heavy as before, he turned to Christopher.

"It's getting late. Go ask your wife to come for dinner. If she doesn't want to come, prepare a meal for her."

Christopher looked at Liam, wondering why the president asked him to call his wife. Could it be that the two of them had not only fought fiercely but also had a conflict?

If he went this time, would he suffer some disaster?

Thinking of his wife's approachable temper, even if she was angry, she shouldn't take it out on an outsider.

He nodded.

Besides, there was no reason for any assistant to object to the president's orders.

But when he went to the other villa, Emma was nowhere to be found. Christopher felt strange. Although the rain was lighter now, it was still raining. His wife shouldn't have gone for a walk, should she?

Christopher went back to report the situation to Liam. Liam thought Emma had said she was leaving, and he believed she had really left in the heavy rain.

He hurried back to the room but saw Emma's suitcase. He found that although her suitcase was packed, it was still in the room, not gone.

She wouldn't leave without her suitcase.

At that moment, a cell phone rang in the room. It belonged to Emma. Liam turned around and saw the Chanel bag on the bed. The sound came from inside.

He took out the phone and looked at the caller ID. His eyes darkened as he answered.

"Vivi, what are you doing?"

Elijah's voice came through gently.

"I'm Liam."

Liam's cold voice replied. There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, as if Elijah was surprised.

"How could you pick up Vivi's phone?"

There was displeasure in Elijah's voice.

"I'm her husband, so I can naturally pick up her phone."

"Where's Vivi? I want to talk to her."

"She's taking a bath."

As Liam's voice fell, Christopher opened the door and came in.

"Sir, I asked the company employees. No one saw your wife. No one knows where she went. Could she have gone down the mountain by herself?"

Before Christopher's voice had completely faded, Liam quickly hung up the phone, cutting off Elijah's voice. "No way, her bag is still here. Even if she didn't have her suitcase, she couldn't be without her bag. Without her phone and purse, she couldn't leave even if she went down the mountain."

Liam's brows were tightly furrowed.

"Did your wife just disappear into thin air?"

"Search for her. Send everyone out to look. Call and send more people over."

Liam was anxious and worried at this moment. He had only left for a while. Why had Emma disappeared? If he had known, he should have stayed in the living room the whole time and never gone anywhere.

Emma, where are you?

"Brother Elijah, what's wrong with you?"

In the hospital corridor, Emilia Clark met Elijah standing by the window at the end of the hallway. She saw him holding a phone in his hand, his expression serious and frightening.

"Maybe something happened to Vivi?"

Earlier on the phone, Elijah had heard Christopher's voice. Although he hadn't heard it completely before Liam hung up, Elijah could tell that Vivi wasn't with Liam at all.

But how could her phone be picked up by Liam? What had happened to Vivi?

Elijah suddenly had a bad premonition. He looked at Emilia.

"Emilia, do you remember what Vivi said to you when she went for an outing?"

"Ah, it was Sunset Peak. Brother Elijah, what happened to Sister Vivi?"

Emilia seemed a bit confused, not immediately understanding.

"I don't know, but I'm going there right now."

Elijah put his phone back in his pocket and was about to leave. Suddenly, he heard the sound of Emilia falling to the ground behind him. Elijah turned around and saw Emilia's eyes tightly closed. She lay on the ground with a pained expression. He quickly picked her up from the floor.

Although he was already anxious about Emma, he still had to take the unconscious Emilia to her doctor.

Vivi, nothing should ever happen to you.

Elijah silently prayed in his heart.
