Evelyn froze.
Then she heard Mrs. Sterling continue speaking.
"It's not good for you and Gray to live apart. One at school, one at home. It's not good at all! Move back here. Use this time to get along and cultivate your feelings!"
Evelyn choked again.
Move back here?
Move into Sterling Mansion?
Live with Gray Sterling?
A large hand patted her back again. Evelyn coughed harder. One thought echoed in her mind: just shoot me now.
She finally stopped coughing. Her face was red from the effort. She turned to look at Gray Sterling. She stared at him.
It was time for him to say something.
"Mom, although Evelyn isn't too stressed about her studies, she still has a lot to do before graduation. It wouldn't be convenient for her to move home and commute back and forth. And we haven't had a wedding yet. It wouldn't be proper for Evelyn to move here. Let Evelyn move into my apartment first. It's closer to the school. We can spend more time together and cultivate our feelings. Evelyn, don't you agree?" Gray Sterling turned to Evelyn and asked.
Evelyn was already in a daze. When she heard Gray Sterling's words, she felt even more confused.
"Evelyn has no objections. Mom, what do you think?" Gray Sterling held the back of Evelyn's chair with one hand and turned to his mother.
"Evelyn has no objections, so naturally I have none either. It's good for you two!" Mrs. Sterling nodded with a smile.
The entire meal was like this. Evelyn had no say in anything. But it decided where she would move next.
After dinner, she sat in the living room for a while. Evelyn told Mrs. Sterling she needed to go back to school first. She still had homework to finish.
Because of Gray Sterling's words earlier, he didn't try to keep her. He asked Gray Sterling to drive Evelyn back to school and take good care of her.
After Evelyn said goodbye to Mrs. Sterling, she walked out of the main room with Gray Sterling. After a while, she looked up at Gray Sterling walking in front and asked awkwardly, "Why did you tell your mother to let me move into your apartment?"
"Or do you want to move back here? I have no opinion!" Gray Sterling glanced back at her and said.
Evelyn immediately shook her head like a rattle.
She thought it was fine to come here for a while like now. But if she moved directly into the Sterling family home, that feeling would be completely different.
Evelyn understood what was happening the next second. She immediately nodded with a smile. "You're still smart!"
Gray Sterling was gay. If she moved into the Sterling Mansion, Gray Sterling would have to come back there too. It wouldn't be so convenient for him to go out with his piano player or anything. But if it was in his apartment, it would be completely different! And he could use her as a shield. It was killing two birds with one stone!
After Evelyn figured it out, her mood suddenly lifted. The haze from just now disappeared. She began to feel light.
Gray Sterling frowned and looked at Evelyn for a long time without saying anything. Anyway, the little girl's thinking was always different from ordinary people.
They reached the garage. Gray Sterling opened the driver's door directly.
Evelyn went to the front seat and got in the car.
"Please take me back to school." Evelyn buckled her seatbelt and said thanks.
"I'm staying at my apartment tonight!" Gray Sterling answered lightly and started the engine.
"Ah?" Evelyn turned her head and looked at Gray Sterling in amazement. She thought she had heard wrong.
By this time, Gray Sterling had driven the car out of the garage.
"Then... why do you want to stay at your apartment tonight?" Evelyn asked.
"Twenty minutes from now, I have a video conference. I can't take you back to school and then drive to my apartment. If there's no problem, you can pack up tomorrow. I'll ask the driver to pick you up. You'll live in my apartment from now on." Gray Sterling explained simply.
"Ah? Why do I have to move into your apartment?" Evelyn was completely confused.
"I think we've discussed this problem. You can only choose one: the family home or my apartment."
"Can't I just live at school?" Evelyn was even more puzzled.
"Obviously you don't know Mom's character. She doesn't like it when other people disobey the things she has decided!"
Evelyn was so shocked she couldn't speak.
After a long time, she found her voice and quickly said, "I didn't bring any laundry! And I really have homework to do!"
"What size do you need? Tell Assistant Grace later. She will send it. My computer over there, except the one in the study, can be used by you. Is there any other question?"
Evelyn shook her head.
Gray Sterling seemed to have answered all her questions. But she still didn't understand the situation.
When they were about to arrive at Gray Sterling's apartment, Evelyn realized something. "Why did she have to go to Gray Sterling's apartment tonight? Gray Sterling had no time to take her back to school. She could go back by herself!"
She quickly turned to Gray Sterling and said, "I can go back to school by myself. It's very convenient to get a ride back to school from here. So you don't have to trouble Assistant Grace to send clothes. And you don't have to disturb your meeting."
Gray Sterling glanced at her. He didn't know what to do with her!
Evelyn thought for a moment. Did she say something wrong? She nervously recalled what she had just said. She didn't think there was any problem! She thought her solution was the most appropriate! Why did Gray Sterling look at her like she was an idiot? Was there a problem with her understanding? Or was there a problem with Gray Sterling's understanding ability?
Just before Evelyn could figure out the situation, she heard Gray Sterling say coldly, "It's Assistant Grace, not Assistant Lin. Confusing other people's surnames is very impolite."
Evelyn apologized immediately. It was Assistant Grace! Wasn't it Assistant Lin? Well, it was Assistant Grace!
Evelyn's last nerve snapped.
Then, after the failure of communication with Gray Sterling, she came to a conclusion. There was a generation gap between her and Gray Sterling! How could she always forget this!
Then, when she turned her head and thought of another way to communicate with Gray Sterling, Gray Sterling had already parked the car in the garage. He unfastened his seatbelt and got out of the car.
Evelyn didn't open her mouth. She had to follow Gray Sterling out of the car.
"That... I can go back to school by myself!" Evelyn was still dying.
Gray Sterling finally stopped. He turned around and stared at Evelyn. "I don't have time to play with you!"
"I don't want to play with you either!" Evelyn shrank back. Her mouth was ringing.
Gray Sterling came back directly. He pulled Evelyn to the elevator.
Evelyn struggled twice. Various ways of Gray Sterling abusing her came into her mind. Then she heard Gray Sterling say in a deep voice, "I don't mind carrying you upstairs directly!"
Evelyn stopped. She looked at Gray Sterling in shock.
After entering the elevator, Gray Sterling took out his mobile phone. He dialed a number. He told his personal assistant, Assistant Grace, on the other end of the phone to help him prepare some women's clothes. Then he handed the mobile phone to Evelyn. "What size do you wear? What style do you like? Tell Assistant Grace directly."
"Oh!" Evelyn answered the phone. But she still didn't know the situation.
"Hello, madam. I'm Mr. Sterling's personal assistant. My name is Grace."
"Hello, Assistant Grace." Evelyn answered awkwardly.
Hearing Assistant Grace's address on the other end of the phone, Evelyn's whole body was in a state of embarrassment.
"What style or brand of clothes do you like?"
"I can do anything. Just something convenient. I wear size M."
"OK, then I'll bring you two sets of different styles. Is that OK?"
"No, just one set!" Evelyn said quickly. She was on her own. She couldn't wear all those sets!
"OK!" Assistant Grace said gently on the other end of the phone. "Besides clothes, do you need to prepare anything else?"
"No, thank you!" Evelyn said and handed the mobile phone back to Gray Sterling.
Gray Sterling put away his mobile phone directly. The elevator door opened. He walked out of the elevator.
After a long time, Gray Sterling said, "Ah, I'm still talking to you."
He entered the code. He pressed the fingerprint. He opened the door and entered the apartment.
Well, what did that mean?
Evelyn was still thinking about this problem. The next second, she was directly carried into the apartment by Gray Sterling.
"You can use the things here. I'm hungry. There's food in the fridge. There are a full set of new toiletries in the bathroom. Take them yourself! Go to bed when you're sleepy. There's nothing wrong. Don't disturb me. Wait a moment. If Mom calls, you can answer it!"
After Gray Sterling's explanation, he went straight into the study to be busy.
And Evelyn hadn't recovered from Gray Sterling's words. After several beats, she nodded.
How to wash the clothes she hadn't changed into! And how to sleep! By the way, she hadn't done her homework yet. She should do it first.
As soon as Gray Sterling connected to the video, he heard a knock on the door. He looked up at Evelyn standing at the door. She looked a little timid.
"What's the matter?"
"That... I want to do my homework. Where is the computer?" Evelyn asked carefully.
"There is a notebook under the tea table. You can use it!"
"Oh, good. Thank you!"
Two minutes later, Evelyn came back. She asked awkwardly, "Sorry, I just want to ask what the password is?"
Gray Sterling's face was already smoking. "123456. Do you have any more questions? Let's ask them together!"
"No. Then you're busy!" Evelyn said with a smile.
After closing the door, she went back to the living room. She sat down on the sofa and took the laptop. She started it up. She entered 123456. She couldn't help but complain. "This password is so childish!"
After entering the desktop, she opened the document and mailbox. She began to do her homework for a long time.
Halfway through the homework, the phone rang.
Evelyn thought of Gray Sterling's explanation. She quickly moved the notebook to one side. She picked up the cordless phone.
"Hello!"
"A female voice? Sorry, I dialed the wrong number!" The person on the other end of the phone was stunned for a moment. They apologized.
