Evelyn was still pondering this when her phone buzzed.

A text from Alexander appeared on the screen.

"The two families have been notified. Don't worry."

Evelyn stared at the message and smiled.

There was still a spark of telepathy between them.

That night, Evelyn slept in the master bedroom of the Richmond Villa.

The layout was similar to Sterling Manor.

But her heart was heavy with worry.

She tossed and turned, half-asleep, until nearly dawn.

Only then did she finally drift off.

Meanwhile, in another apartment, Alexander and his nephew Ethan were planning their strategy.

They were waiting for the trap to spring.

Everything was ready.

All they needed was the final piece.

In truth, Alexander had never gone on a business trip.

That was just a cover.

His mistake that morning was forgetting it was Evelyn's prenatal checkup day.

When he suddenly remembered, he called her immediately.

She said she was on her way back.

His heart settled for a moment.

Then she mentioned she was with Noah Grant.

And that she was being followed at the hospital.

Fear gripped him.

If Evelyn hadn't been so alert, if no one had come to help her, Alexander couldn't bear to think what might have happened.

Scarlett was clever.

She knew today was Evelyn's checkup.

She knew Evelyn would have protection when she went out.

The best place to strike was the hospital, where security was most easily overlooked.

If Scarlett had succeeded in taking Evelyn, all his efforts would have been wasted.

But that wasn't the worst part.

The worst part was that he could have lost Evelyn forever.

Since Scarlett was ruthless enough to have Evelyn kidnapped, she had completely abandoned any sense of humanity.

Whether she achieved her goal or not, she wouldn't let Evelyn live.

One wrong move, and everything was lost.

His negligence had nearly put him in a desperate situation.

That was why, the moment he got Evelyn's call, he immediately contacted her, picked her up, and arranged for her to stay at his new house.

Now, neither Sterling Manor nor the Rose Garden Villa felt safe.

The new house was the best choice.

On one hand, the villa wasn't purchased under his name.

No one except his mother knew about it.

Even Ethan didn't know.

Scarlett would never find this property.

On the other hand, the security here was better.

The location was more spacious.

It was easier for him to arrange people to take care of and protect Evelyn.

As long as Evelyn was safe, he had no worries.

"Ethan, is everything settled at your mother's place?" Alexander looked up and asked.

"I've arranged for someone to watch over her 24/7. There shouldn't be any problems."

"'Shouldn't be' isn't good enough. Make sure there are no problems."

"I can guarantee it. Is my little aunt okay?" Ethan replied with a smile.

"She's fine for now. But it was my negligence in the end."

"Luckily, my little aunt is clever. Otherwise, this would have been a huge mess."

"I didn't expect Aunt Scarlett to be so ruthless. It's terrifying."

"A woman's heart is the most poisonous thing," Ethan couldn't help but remark.

"Any news from Nathan Cole?"

"Not yet."

"The calmer it is, the more dangerous it becomes. Keep an eye on him."

"I know. I just have to sit across from him and watch his every move." Ethan replied smugly.

Alexander glanced at him but said nothing more.

"Little uncle, do you want to get some rest? I'll keep watch here."

"I'm asking for two hours off. No problem."

"Two hours? Take 24 if you want."

"Now's not the time for boasting. I'll be back in two hours. Stay alert during that time."

"Little uncle, you're going to see my little aunt, aren't you?"

Ethan grabbed his coat and hurried back to the living room.

He smiled to himself.

Evelyn didn't get up until very late.

Maybe because she hadn't slept well the night before, even after sleeping in, she still felt groggy.

Her head felt heavy.

Evelyn sat up slowly, rubbing her temples.

She remembered her dream from last night.

It felt so real.

She dreamed Alexander had come back.

He sat by the bed, looking at her.

Then he leaned in and kissed her.

Evelyn reached out and touched her forehead.

She had been so worried about Alexander's safety that she couldn't sleep last night.

When she finally fell asleep, she kept dreaming.

All of her dreams were about him.

Evelyn rubbed her temples for a long time, trying to ease the heaviness in her head.

Then she got out of bed and went to the bathroom to wash up.

By the time she went downstairs, Grace Miller had already made breakfast and was waiting for her.

"Good morning, Grace."

"Good morning, Evelyn. Breakfast is ready. You should eat it while it's still warm," Grace said.

"Thank you. I had some trouble sleeping last night. I didn't fall asleep until dawn. I overslept."

"Worried about Mr. Sterling?" Grace asked with a smile.

Evelyn nodded, not bothering to hide it.

"Don't worry. Mr. Sterling always handles things perfectly," Grace said.

Evelyn smiled faintly and nodded, saying nothing.

Grace didn't press further. She helped Evelyn prepare breakfast.

"Grace, you've worked with Alexander for so many years. You must know him very well," Evelyn said while eating.

"I know a bit. After all, I've been working with Mr. Sterling for quite a few years. But I don't know everything. Mr. Sterling often doesn't play by the rules," Grace replied.

"What do you mean?" Evelyn looked up at Grace.

"Many things, especially major decisions. We often think we know what he'll do, but Mr. Sterling always comes up with something different."

"Of course, what surprised us the most was his marriage to you."

"To be honest, there was no sign of it before."

"We didn't even know Mr. Sterling had a girlfriend," Grace said with a smile.

"That's understandable," Evelyn nodded.

Even she had never seen Alexander before they registered their marriage.

There was no way Grace would have known about her existence.

"I'm not trying to say anything bad. I'm just giving you an example. Mr. Sterling's thinking is very unique. He can always solve the most difficult problems."

"That's why I'm telling you, don't worry. Mr. Sterling can handle everything," Grace continued.

Evelyn nodded again and continued eating her lunch without saying anything.

After lunch, Evelyn sat on the sofa in the living room to rest.

Since it wasn't safe to go out, she had to find ways to pass the time on her own.
