Chapter 302

"You have to work overtime today. You're exhausted. No need!" Mrs. Sterling waved her hand.

"I only work overtime once in a while. I won't be tired! The weather is nice today. If you want to go, Mom, let's go. I just want to take a walk!" Evie persuaded.

"If you're not tired, we'll go for a walk!" Mrs. Sterling agreed.

So Evie pushed her mother-in-law's wheelchair and took her to the garden.

The weather was getting colder, but today was better.

"It won't be very cold today!" Mrs. Sterling said.

"Yes, it's not cold today!" Evie replied.

"Gray is still working overtime!"

Evie said nothing, just smiled.

Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law walked and chatted in the garden.

After the walk, Chloe was waiting to help the old lady rest.

Evie also went back to Sterling Manor.

She came out of the bedroom after her usual bath.

The SMS ringing on the coffee table was Alexander's phone.

"Alexander—"

Evie looked around and called, but didn't hear Alexander's response.

She had to walk over and pick up the phone.

Just numbers, no names.

The SMS was just a few words—

Thank you in the evening!

Evie wondered who this was. Or did someone send the wrong SMS?

But she didn't think much about it. She went downstairs to find Alexander with his phone.

She met Lily downstairs.

"Lily, is Alexander back?"

"As soon as the fourth young master came back, he said he would go to the main house to see the old lady!" Lily replied.

"Oh!" Evie answered for a long time and didn't say much.

"Madam, I'm cooking a midnight snack. You can eat it later!"

"OK, after cooking, you can go to rest early too!" Evie told Lily.

"OK, thank you, madam!"

Evie turned back to the second floor and put the phone back on the coffee table. She thought that Alexander just came back and left his phone here.

She went to the window and looked at the road Alexander would take from the main house. She didn't see his figure.

Alexander just went to the main house. He wouldn't be back for a while.

Evie took back her gaze and looked at the lotus pond in front of her.

The lotus had already withered. Only some residual leaves and withered stems floated on the water.

Soon, the lotus pond would be cleaned up.

Today was a crescent moon. The stars were especially bright, reflected on the water like fireflies.

Evie thought of summer nights. She could still hear the sound of cicadas.

With the blooming lotus and the sky full of stars, it was really refreshing!

Just when Evie was lost in thought about the beautiful scenery, she faintly noticed a line of sight.

Turning her head, she saw Alexander looking at her.

Now he was standing on the stone path, leaning against the lamppost, staring at her.

Evie couldn't help laughing.

She thought Alexander really had leisure. At this moment, he could still lean there, waiting for her to find him.

"When are you going to stand there?" Evie asked with a smile.

"Let's get the beauty's attention first!" Alexander said.

"Where is the beauty?" Evie looked around and pretended not to understand Alexander's words.

"Hands are like catkins, skin is like cream, collar is like white, teeth are like gourds, eyebrows are like moths, smile is beautiful, eyes are looking forward to it!" Alexander recited.

Evie burst out laughing.

"Well, you still have leisure to recite poems over there! Come into the room quickly. Lily has cooked the midnight snack and is waiting for you to come back to eat!"

"Come down, together!" Alexander said, and then he came to Sterling Manor.

Evie followed him downstairs. Lily greeted them and went back to rest first.

Evie and Alexander sat by the dining table, eating a snack and chatting.

"It's a healthy way of life to eat and sleep while eating for a long time. I have to study it carefully. How can I not eat midnight snack at night and not be hungry!" Evie said.

"Study slowly!" Alexander encouraged, and then gave her the dishes Evie liked in the bowl.

That day, Evie sent a box of things to Starlight Holdings headquarters. She didn't expect to meet Caleb Hayes, who was on the same elevator with him.

"Can I help you?" Caleb asked.

"No, it's not very heavy! Thank you, Mr. Hayes!" Evie held the box and said.

At this time, an old man with Caleb said.

"It's better for pregnant women not to carry heavy things on their hands!"

Evie was stunned for a moment, then turned to look at him and explained awkwardly.

"I'm not pregnant!"

The other party glanced at her and didn't refute her.

Evie met Caleb's line of sight. She immediately felt embarrassed and shrank toward the elevator side.

Fortunately, the floor had arrived. Evie asked them to go out first.

Just now, the man who said she was pregnant reminded her before he walked out of the elevator.

"You'd better go to the hospital to check and confirm!"

Then he walked out of the elevator.

Evie was embarrassed.

She wondered why this man was so strange!

It was really strange people with strange people.

Unexpectedly, after she walked out of the elevator, she heard Caleb turn around and say to her.

"Mrs. Sterling, my friend is a famous master of traditional Chinese medicine. His opinions are worth your reference!"

After that, without waiting for Evie's response, he went to his office with his friend.

Evie stood still. After a while, she looked down at her stomach.

Well, she was holding the box in her hand. She couldn't see it.

But she remembered clearly that her period hadn't arrived yet?

How could she know that she was pregnant?

With such suspicions, Evie walked toward Caleb's secretary desk.

After handing things over to Caleb's secretary, Evie went back to the company.

But Caleb and his friend's words still caused Evie to care.

She thought she'd better go around the hospital after work.

After getting off work on time, Evie still called Victoria.

"Sister, are you off work?" Evie asked.

"Just about to leave work. Are you home?" Victoria asked on the other end of the phone.

"No, I want to go to the hospital. Are you free? Come with me!"

"What's the matter with you?" Victoria asked.

"It's OK. I just want to check it!"

"How can I go at this time? People are off work. I'll ask for leave to accompany you tomorrow!"

"Just have a look. I'm a little embarrassed myself!"

"Where are you now?"

"I'm still in the company!"

"Then I'll go around. Wait for me downstairs!"

"OK!"

After making an appointment with her sister Victoria, Evie went downstairs and waited for her.
