"Ethan is outside too, but they only let one person in. So he can only watch you from the window.
Aunt Audrey and Aunt Scarlett also came to see you. They stayed with you all night last night.
Charlotte had an important meeting today, so she went first. She came to see you this morning and at noon!

Eleanor blinked again.
"Am I talking too much, Mom? Are you bored?
I don't mean anything else. I just hope you recover and leave the hospital soon. It's boring lying here, isn't it?"
Ten minutes passed quickly.
Evie spoke to her mother-in-law.
"Alright, Mom!"
She just walked out of the ICU.
Even though Eleanor couldn't move, she was fully awake.
She couldn't speak, but she heard everything Evie said.
Especially the part about taking her square dancing when she recovered. She wanted to laugh.
How could this girl be so cheerful!
When work ended, Audrey, Scarlett, and their husbands all came to the hospital to visit Eleanor.
They told Evie and Alexander to go home and rest. They would take care of her.
Alexander didn't say anything. Evie talked with the two sisters about their mother's recovery. She told them not to worry too much. Then she followed Alexander out of the hospital.
Honestly, she was exhausted. It was the kind of tiredness that hits you after being so focused and then finally relaxing.
Evie sat in the passenger seat. She didn't even want to talk.
Alexander didn't say anything either. He just drove attentively.
Then Evie suddenly asked.
"Alexander, what does your mother like to eat? Let's buy some!"
"Peaches and mung bean cakes," Alexander said.
"Let's buy some!" Evie replied.
They made a detour to buy mung bean cakes, osmanthus cakes, and a few peaches. Then they returned to Sterling Manor.
Evie didn't go back to Sterling Manor. She went to Rose Garden Villa to see her sister-in-law.
Right now, Isabella was sitting by the window, muttering to herself.
"Sister-in-law!" Evie called.
Isabella looked up. When she saw Evie, she suddenly smiled. Then she nervously called out to her.
"Evie, come in quickly!"
Evie answered, carrying the things. She walked into the living room and went to the sunroom.
"Evie, I'm telling you, there are a lot of bad people around lately. You have to be careful when you go out!" Isabella said, looking alert.
"Sister-in-law, don't worry. I scared all the monsters away!" Evie said with a smile.
"Monsters?" Isabella looked at Evie, confused.
"Yes, those bad guys you mentioned. They're the monsters I'm talking about. I chased them away!" Evie nodded firmly.
"Can you beat them?"
"Of course!" Evie nodded. "See, I not only chased the monsters away, but I also bought your favorite mung bean cakes and osmanthus cakes! Sister-in-law, I want to drink your osmanthus tea!"
"Okay, then I'll make osmanthus tea!" Isabella answered. Then she looked up and asked, "Did you really chase all the bad guys away?"
"Yes, as long as I'm watching over the family, they wouldn't dare come here!" Evie raised her face and answered seriously.
"That's good, that's good!" Isabella murmured. "They've been bullying Ethan all the time!"
Even though Evie comforted her sister-in-law like this, she felt a little sad.
Most of the time, her sister-in-law was still very clear-headed. She was no different from a normal person when dealing with others!

Isabella brewed a pot of osmanthus tea and brought it over. Evie chatted with her sister-in-law while eating cakes and drinking tea.
Evie told funny stories from her childhood. She made Isabella laugh the whole time.
"Evie, you were so cute when you were little. Your mother must have been very happy to have you!"
"My mother had a headache. She always thought she had a stupid daughter!" Evie laughed.
"How could that be? You are so lovely. I wish I had a daughter.
But Thomas always said my health wasn't good. After having two, that was enough. He didn't let me have more!" Isabella murmured.
Evie wanted to correct her sister-in-law. She wanted to say that Alexander was the only one!
But the next second, she realized that would only make her sister-in-law defensive.

Later, Isabella talked more with Evie. She said Alexander used to be weak and sickly. She often had to hold him all night just to get him to sleep for a while.
For a while, she dressed him up as a girl. It was easier to raise a lot of children that way.
Evie kept smiling. She thought about Alexander being raised as a girl when he was little!

Isabella might have talked herself tired. She was obviously getting sleepy.
Evie convinced her sister-in-law to go inside and rest.
After waiting for her sister-in-law to fall asleep, Evie said a few words to Violet. Then she walked out of Rose Garden Villa.
She saw Alexander sitting in the yard. She asked in surprise.
"Alexander, why are you sitting here alone?"

"You didn't sleep well last night. You should go to bed early today.
Your sister-in-law is already asleep. You don't have to worry. Go to sleep soon!" Evie said.
"Did my mother say a lot?" Alexander asked.
"Quite a bit, but it was all fun!
Your mother said she raised you as a girl when you were little!" Evie said with a smile.
"That was my uncle!" Alexander answered.
"So it wasn't you? Your sister-in-law just couldn't tell the difference!"
"Sometimes, I think my uncle was my mother's own son."
"Nonsense. There's already a lot going on at home. Don't stir up more trouble!"
"I'm just talking. You should go back and rest. My uncle just called to ask about you."

Evie left Rose Garden Villa. She walked through the garden and returned to Sterling Manor.
Alexander had already come back.
"Alexander, did you see your mother in the hospital?"
"I just came back from the hospital," Alexander said.
"Mom's condition is very stable, right? This afternoon, the doctor said she was out of danger!" Evie asked.

"She said Evie is a chatterbox."
