I went to Alexander's office first.
He was resting on the sofa.
"What delicious food did you bring me?" Alexander asked with a smile when he saw the things in my hands.
"I didn't buy the desserts. Secretary Liu and Secretary Parker paid for them!" I explained.
"Why did they suddenly treat you to dessert?" Alexander asked.
"I suddenly wanted to eat it!" I replied.
"You eat it. You know I don't like sweets!" He pulled me to sit down beside him.
"I have one for myself, and I have another one to send to Grace!" I said, then stood up.
"Send it to Grace first, then come back to me!" Alexander said.
"What do you need me for?" I asked.
"Keep me company for a while!"
"Oh!" I had no choice but to agree.
I went to Grace's office first to deliver the dessert. She asked with a smile, "Is there some good news today?"
"No, it's just that Secretary Liu and Secretary Parker invited you to sing yesterday, and today they invited you to eat dessert!" I replied with a smile.
"You're too kind!"
"Not at all. Grace, take your time. I won't disturb you!" I said and walked out of her office.
I went back to Alexander's office.
"Are you feeling unwell?" I walked over, sat down beside him, and asked.
"I'm fine, just a bit of a headache!" Alexander replied.
"Lie down. I'll massage your head for you. Do you have any balm or something here?" I asked.
"No!" Alexander answered, then lay down on the sofa.
"It's okay!" I got up, washed my hands, dried them, sat beside him, and began to massage his temples.
"You should try to rest at noon. It's better to rest for at least half an hour!" I said with concern as I massaged.
"Okay!" Alexander replied.
"You always say you'll listen, but you never do. Otherwise, it's like I'm talking to myself!" I continued.
"I know. Evelyn, when did you become so naggy?" Alexander opened his eyes and looked at me with a smile.
"I care about you. If it were anyone else, I wouldn't bother!" I said.
"Yes, it's my honor!"
I couldn't help but laugh.
"You're not feeling well, but you still have the energy to joke! Stop talking and rest!"
Alexander just hummed in response and said nothing more.
I massaged his head for a while. He fell asleep. I got up, went into the restroom, took out a thin blanket, and gently covered him.
Seeing him curled up on the sofa, his head resting on the armrest, and his legs hanging off the edge, I didn't wake him up to go to the restroom to sleep.
After all, it was better that he had fallen asleep now.
I took one last look at him and walked out of his office.
Secretary Parker and Secretary Liu had already gone back to the secretarial office. They were telling everyone about my relationship with Mr. Sterling, as if they had discovered a new world.
"You won't believe it! Evelyn is Mr. Sterling's wife, the president's wife!"
"I told you she might be Mr. Sterling's wife, but you didn't believe me!" Secretary Campbell responded.
"I was surprised too. I didn't believe it at first. But I asked Secretary Liu for a long time to confirm that she is indeed Mr. Sterling's wife!" Secretary Parker said triumphantly.
"How did you ask? Did she have any connection with Mr. Sterling?"
"I wanted to ask last night, but it wasn't the right time. Do you know who we had lunch with today? Mr. Sterling and Manager Sterling from the planning department. Do you know what Manager Sterling's name is? Ethan. He's Mr. Sterling's nephew. Who in our company doesn't know that Manager Sterling is the general manager's nephew? He always calls the general manager 'Uncle'! As soon as we connected the dots, we could guess Evelyn's identity!" Secretary Parker said vividly.
Secretary Harper said with a smile, "Look at you, you're so excited!"
"Of course I'm excited! There's a VIP in our secretarial office!"
"Evelyn is already the president's wife, and she came to our secretarial office for an internship. She's not just an intern; she's the president's wife!" Secretary Liu said with a smile.
"It's the same thing. As long as someone has worked in our office, she's still one of us. Besides, why did she choose our office for her internship out of all the departments? Maybe she'll work here in the future! Secretary Harper, you should know the best!" Secretary Parker turned to Secretary Harper and asked.
"I don't know. I'm only responsible for Evelyn's internship report. I don't know anything else!" Secretary Harper shook her head with a smile.
"Secretary Harper has the tightest lips!" Secretary Liu said with a smile.
"It really has nothing to do with me. I only found out about Evelyn and Mr. Sterling's relationship after hearing you talk about it!" Secretary Harper replied.
"Really?"
"Of course it's true. Why would I lie to you?" Secretary Harper said, half laughing, half crying.
"But Evelyn has been working very hard during her internship in our office!"
"That's true! Hey, why is Evelyn taking so long to deliver a dessert?"
"She's probably with Mr. Sterling. Do you have a problem with that?"
"I don't have a problem at all!" Secretary Parker said with a smile.
I went back to the secretarial office and saw everyone looking at me with a strange smile. My face turned red.
"Don't look at me like that!" I said, embarrassed.
"Evelyn is shy! Okay, okay, don't be embarrassed. Evelyn, you can eat your dessert now!" Secretary Parker teased.
"Have you all eaten?" I asked.
"Not yet, we haven't had lunch!"
"Then I'll eat mine later, as a snack!" I replied with a smile.
The atmosphere in the secretarial office that afternoon was even livelier than in the morning. Everyone was making jokes from time to time.
I was also very happy. But then I remembered that my period hadn't come yet, and I started to feel a little nervous.
I didn't know who to ask.
The people I could ask, I was too embarrassed to speak to. The people I dared to speak to weren't married yet, so they probably knew even less than I did.
In the end, I couldn't help but send a text message to Victoria.
"Sis, my period hasn't come. Am I pregnant?"
Two minutes after I sent the text, my sister Victoria called me. She asked in surprise, "Are you pregnant?"
"No! No!" I said, embarrassed. I got up, walked out of my seat, and went to the stairwell to answer her call. "It just hasn't come yet!"
"How many days late?" Victoria asked on the other end of the phone.
"Three or four days!"
"Then you must be pregnant!" Victoria answered firmly.
