Evelyn shut down the computer and turned around.
“Alright, let’s go grab dinner!”
She then asked Amy Harper.
“Amy, do you have a packed lunch today?”
“I do. You go ahead and eat!” Amy replied with a smile.
“Let’s head down with the secretaries first!”
Evelyn went downstairs with Chloe Parker and Ella Baker to have lunch in the staff cafeteria.
She had told Alexander she had plans, but the truth was, she didn’t want to have lunch with him.
If she was with him, they’d only eat out, and sometimes she’d be late getting back to work.
Alexander was his own boss. He didn’t have so-called working hours.
She wasn’t like him. She was just a little intern. Being late for work would affect her internship results.
So she’d rather eat out with him at night than have lunch with him at noon.
Stepping into the elevator, Evelyn sent a short message to Alexander.
“Eat, eat, you pig. Don’t forget to eat again!”
Seeing it was Alexander calling, Evelyn felt embarrassed.
She couldn’t just ignore it. Otherwise, knowing Alexander’s personality, he’d come straight to her and ask what was going on.
She had to pick up.
“Hello—”
“No appointment, no appetite to eat!” Alexander said plaintively on the other end of the line.
Evelyn was speechless for a moment.
“You mean you’re not going to have lunch at noon, right?”
“You finish eating and pack some for me!” Alexander replied with a smile.
“No, you go eat. Go eat now!” Evelyn insisted.
She almost said, “Go to the staff cafeteria.”
“Who are you having lunch with?”
“With colleagues!”
“In the staff cafeteria?”
“Yes, where else?” Evelyn asked, puzzled.
“Nothing. Eat more, and I’m going to eat too!”
“Alright, you eat more too!” Evelyn said, then hung up.
She felt something was off, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
After putting away her phone, she heard Chloe Parker ask.
“Evelyn, is your family worried you’re not eating on time?”
“No, just a casual call!” Evelyn replied awkwardly.
“You’re so lucky. Someone cares about you when you eat. Even if I don’t eat for a whole day, the guy in my family wouldn’t care!” Chloe said.
“Your husband isn’t that busy. You don’t manage others, and others don’t have time to manage you!” Ella Baker said with a smile.
“There are plenty of people busier than my husband. It has nothing to do with whether they have a heart or not, or how busy they are! Evelyn is just luckier!”
“Evelyn is truly blessed!”
Chloe and Ella sang in unison, and Evelyn didn’t know what to say.
She felt they were different today, especially Chloe.
Today, she had praised her many times and talked to her with a pleasant face.

Evelyn suddenly felt a thump in her heart, because her period hadn’t come yet!
It was Saturday today. If it wasn’t for the long holiday, she’d be sleeping at home now!
But her period still hadn’t come!
“Evelyn, Evelyn—”
“Huh?” Evelyn suddenly looked back, staring blankly at Ella and Chloe.
“What are you thinking about? You didn’t respond when I talked to you!” Ella said with a smile.
“I was thinking about how my period hasn’t come yet!” Evelyn blurted out.
Almost at the same time, Ella and Chloe were surprised.
“That... sometimes I’m not on time!” Evelyn explained.
“You must take good care of yourself!” Ella was the first to recover and responded.
“Yeah!” Evelyn nodded.
“Evelyn, you can’t be pregnant!” Chloe said with a smile.
Evelyn was eating and suddenly choked.
“I’m just joking with you. Why are you so excited?” Chloe quickly said.
Evelyn waved her hand, finally catching her breath, and continued.
“I... I’m fine! I just choked!”
“I’m joking with you! You don’t even have a boyfriend. How could you be pregnant?” Chloe said with a smile.
Evelyn could only force a dry smile, but she thought to herself.
She didn’t have a boyfriend, but she had a husband. The probability of pregnancy wasn’t much higher?
And recently, with Alexander, they really hadn’t taken any preventive measures.
It couldn’t be that if there was one, there was one!
Evelyn muttered while eating.

Alexander glanced at Ethan, and Ethan fell silent.
