“Evelyn, everyone’s drinking. You’re not going to have any? It’s a rare class reunion!”
I could tell right away.
“Then I’ll have a small glass of liquor, okay?”
“Evie, come on, that’s not enough. Who drinks liquor at a time like this? Have a bottle of beer!” some classmates laughed.
“No, I can’t drink beer or wine. I’ll have an allergic reaction!” Evelyn had to make an excuse.
“Fine, then have the liquor. But not a small cup—a whole bottle. You have to finish it!” the classmate laughed.
“Forget it, I’ll just have the beer!” Evelyn answered with a sigh.
Then, I was still thinking about how to get through the rest of the night.
Otherwise, when I get home tonight, it won’t be as simple as writing a review.
Everyone downed a bottle of beer, and the dishes were served.
While eating, we talked about internships and graduation.
Naturally, it was inevitable to tease Liam, who was about to get married.
The private room was as lively as a boiling pot.
After eating until half full, the class monitor raised his glass, stood up, and said, “Cheers! I wish everyone in the class can successfully sign a contract and find their dream job.”
Everyone echoed, saying cheers and toasting to successful contracts.
Evelyn had to steel herself and drink with him.
After drinking, she quickly drank some soup to suppress the taste of alcohol.
Then the monitor continued, “This is to congratulate Liam in advance on his marriage, becoming the first in our class to tie the knot. Let’s toast to that.”
Evelyn had to drink another glass.
Fortunately, after two glasses of beer, the monitor smiled and said, “Now we can drink freely. If you have complaints, complain. If you have revenge, take it. And of course, those with secret crushes should seize the opportunity!”
As soon as the monitor finished speaking, everyone laughed.
“Let’s have a drink in our dorm too!” Stella turned her head and said.
“Let’s just drink soup. No more alcohol. I’m really going to get drunk!” Evelyn said, waving her hand.
“Evie, you’re such a buzzkill!”
“If I get drunk, I’ll be an even bigger buzzkill!” Evelyn said bitterly.
“Don’t force her. Allergies are no joke. Let’s drink!” Emily said, clinking glasses with Stella.
“Evelyn, I’d like to toast you. I heard your performance at the school anniversary was amazing, but I missed it!” a male classmate came over with a glass and said to Evelyn.
Evelyn was embarrassed. She stood up with her glass and replied awkwardly, “It was nothing, just a small act. I heard you’ve already signed a contract with a company! Congratulations!”
“It’s just a small company. I’ll see how it goes first!”
“A company’s size doesn’t matter. What’s important is the opportunity for growth!”
“That’s true! How are things at Sterling Group?”
“I don’t know yet!” Evelyn replied with embarrassment.
“Classmate, I’d like to have a drink with you too!” Emily said, holding her glass.
“Emily, long time no see!”
Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief and sat down to continue eating.
She was most afraid of drinking, so she didn’t dare to propose a toast to her classmates. She was also afraid they would come to toast her!
“Evie, are you okay?” Stella looked at Evelyn and asked.
“I’m fine!” Evelyn nodded.
“Good, you’re not drunk. I noticed you’ve been picking at the vegetables!” Stella laughed.
“I can’t pick them up!” Evelyn replied awkwardly.
She had to take the spoon and use it directly.
Later, everyone had a great time. Some students were really drunk and started talking a lot.
Some female students cried emotionally.
Evelyn was still sitting in her seat, picking at the vegetables.
When a classmate came over, she would clink glasses with them and then take a sip of beer.
In the end, Stella and Emily didn’t know where they had gone.
Next to her were other classmates.
“Evie, are you unhappy tonight?” a classmate asked.
“No!” Evelyn looked up blankly.
“Look, you haven’t said much all night!”
“I’m a little drunk!” Evelyn said with a smile.
“You should drink as much as you can!”
“I’m not drinking as much as I can!”
“We’ve been classmates for four years, and I’ve never had a drink with you. You have to appreciate this cup!” the classmate said with a smile.
However, Evelyn hesitated, but she had to clink glasses with the other person and then said, “I wish you find your dream job!”
“Thank you, and I wish you a smooth signing with Sterling Group!”
After they clinked glasses, Evelyn only took a sip as usual.
The classmate asked her with a smile, “Are you saving the rest for the goldfish?”
Evelyn was embarrassed to say that she really didn’t know how to drink.
The classmate said, “Come on, it’s just this small cup. Finish it quickly.”
Evelyn couldn’t refuse, so she had to drink it. Her dizziness worsened.
At this time, Emily had already returned to her seat and said to her, “Evie, it seems your phone is ringing!”
“Oh!” Evelyn answered.
Then she took out her phone from her bag, didn’t even look at who was calling, and picked up.
“Hello—”
“Where are you?” Alexander asked on the other end of the phone.
“I don’t know where it is. Let me ask!” Evelyn murmured, then turned her head and asked Emily, “Emily, where are we?”
Emily rolled her eyes and said, “You can’t remember how much you’ve drunk.”
So she told Evelyn the name of the restaurant.
Evelyn smiled and repeated it to the person on the other end of the phone.
“Drinking?” Alexander asked.
“Three drinks, no, four! I can’t count them!” Evelyn replied with a silly smile.
“Didn’t I tell you not to drink?” Alexander was a little displeased.
“I didn’t want to drink, but they made me!” Evelyn whined.
“What time does it end? I’ll pick you up!”
“I don’t know. Let me ask!” Evelyn said, looking up at Emily and saying, “Emily, what time are we going to finish?”
“It’s still early!” Emily answered. “Is your family calling?”
“Yes. Otherwise, you can talk to him. I don’t know how to explain!” Evelyn said and handed her phone directly to Emily.
Then she went straight to the table.
“What do you want me to say?” Emily replied with dismay.
Seeing that Evelyn was lying on the table, she picked up the phone and said, “Hello, I’m Emily, Evelyn’s roommate. Today our class is having a reunion, and Evelyn is with me. You don’t have to worry!”
“Okay, please take care of Evelyn. She’s not good at drinking!” Alexander said.
Emily heard the male voice on the other end of the phone and was stunned for a moment before she continued, “Evelyn doesn’t drink much. I’ll look after her. Please don’t worry!”
“After the party, please call me back. I’ll pick her up!” Alexander politely explained.
“Okay!” Emily finally asked curiously, “Who are you?”
How could this voice sound so good?
And it didn’t sound like Evelyn’s father’s voice!
Why?
