"Well, when Liam and I returned to Sunrise Manor yesterday, Amelia announced it in front of everyone. Although we were all worried, she can't stay cooped up at home forever. Maybe getting out and seeing more people will do her good."
Emma nodded and said to Emilia.
"That's wonderful. And when Miss Amelia's coffee shop opens, we can visit often. I want to be Miss Amelia's first customer. You know, I was able to settle into the company so quickly thanks to Miss Amelia's help."
Emilia showed a grateful expression.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure you're the first guest."
Emma said to Emilia with a smile.
Since Amelia had chosen a location directly across from Pinnacle Tower, it was very close to Liam's company. Everyone felt more at ease. Although the store was in the busiest area of the city center, where the monthly rent alone would make most people feel pressured, Amelia was the eldest daughter of the Williams family, so the rent meant nothing to her. She had bought the store outright with a generous hand. Even if Amelia only kept it open for a month, she wouldn't care.
The decoration had also cost a fortune. After all, Amelia had very picky taste, and the materials she chose for the renovation were almost all the most expensive. For Emma, who was always trying to save money and earn more every day, she could only think that compared to the carefree Amelia, she was living in a completely different world.
Since it was near the company, Emma went to check on the progress every noon. Amelia couldn't be there every day, so Emma had taken on the responsibility of supervising the work.
One day, Amelia rarely came over in person and discussed with Emma where the crystal curtain chandelier would look best.
"Emma, is this your shop?"
A familiar voice sounded from the doorway. Emma turned around and was surprised to see Noah Taylor. Why was he here?
"I just had dinner with a client nearby. When I was about to leave, I saw you in the shop, so I thought I'd come in and take a look." Noah saw Emma's confusion and explained with a smile.
"It's not my shop. It belongs to my husband's sister."
Emma's voice was very cold, almost without any warmth. Noah didn't seem to mind at all. He knew it would be very difficult for Emma to return to her old attitude toward him. It wasn't going to change overnight, so he wasn't in a hurry.
"Sister?"
Noah noticed Amelia standing next to Emma. He had heard that Liam had a sister.
"Who is this man, sister-in-law? He seems familiar with you. Are you friends?"
Amelia asked curiously, then looked at Noah.
"He's Isabella's fiancé. You know Isabella."
Emma didn't tell Amelia about her past relationship with Noah. She couldn't tell her husband's sister that this was her boyfriend of seven years. That kind of relationship was too awkward to mention. Besides, from Amelia's perspective, she probably wouldn't be too happy to hear it. But saying he was Isabella's fiancé was different.
What's more, it was the truth.
"So you're Isabella's fiancé. Hello, speaking of which, Isabella once saved me. I don't know what would have happened to me if it hadn't been for her."
A friendly smile appeared on Amelia's face as she greeted Noah.
"I'm not only Isabella's fiancé, but also Emma's college classmate. Compared to Isabella, Emma and I knew each other much earlier. Don't you think so, Emma?"
Emma hadn't expected Noah to say these things in front of Amelia. What was he thinking? Emma's heart began to feel uneasy.
"Sister-in-law, is that right? So, aren't you the matchmaker between Isabella and her fiancé? It seems like a good way to keep things in the family."
Amelia's voice sounded naive and straightforward, but Emma didn't feel very comfortable. How could she be the matchmaker for Isabella and Noah? But she couldn't refute anything. This kind of scene made people feel awkward. Emma wished Noah would leave soon, but he showed no sign of going.
And Amelia, perhaps because Isabella had saved her, seemed willing to talk with Noah for a long time. They had many topics to discuss, and Noah inevitably brought up some things from their college days. Looking at Noah's face, he seemed to be reminiscing about the past. Amelia glanced at Emma several times, although she didn't say anything. But Emma always felt that Amelia might have noticed something.
"Emma wasn't just the most beautiful girl in the department, she was the campus beauty. At the same time, her academic performance was excellent. I don't know how many boys liked her."
When Noah said this to Amelia, he couldn't help recalling the past. Thinking that he had given up on Emma was the stupidest thing he had ever done in his life.
"I think so. Then you must have liked my sister-in-law. After all, she's so beautiful. I'm afraid it's hard for any boy not to like her."
Amelia had a sweet smile on her face and said this without any apparent intention. Noah was slightly stunned, then subconsciously looked at Emma's cold face. He had been about to tell the story of his seven-year relationship with Emma, but he stopped himself.
"Noah, are you that idle? It's getting late."
Emma didn't want Noah to say anything more that he shouldn't, so she spoke coldly, dismissing her guest.
Noah didn't want to leave. But seeing that Emma's soft face had turned cold, he knew it wasn't good to stay.
"Sister-in-law, Isabella's fiancé is quite humorous. And it's rare to see someone so handsome. There must be many girls who like him."
Amelia asked with some curiosity. Emma didn't quite know how to answer.
"Didn't you have a secret crush on him? I think if I had met such a humorous and handsome boy when I was in school, I would have been moved. What do you think, sister-in-law?"
A light of unknown meaning flickered in Amelia's eyes. She looked at Emma and said with a smile.
Emma didn't know why, but looking at Amelia's unusually sweet smile, she felt a little uncomfortable.
Why did she feel that Amelia had deliberately said that to embarrass her? But after losing her memory, Amelia didn't know about her past relationship with Noah. So, was she just overthinking things?
