Chapter 331

Emma Johnson looked helplessly at the deep worry in Elijah Clark's eyes. She let out a dry, awkward laugh and merely nodded perfunctorily, saying that she would.

Then, under her repeated urging, Elijah finally left, though clearly very reluctant.

As she waved goodbye to him and turned around to face Liam Williams, the gloom on the man's face was no longer concealed. The smile curling at the corner of his mouth made Emma feel a sense of danger instinctively.

"Emma Johnson, it seems your childhood friend doesn't really know you that well. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm afraid someone might think he was your husband. Don't you think so?"

Liam looked at Emma with a smile that made her scalp tingle. She thought to herself, what's the big deal? It was just a simple meal.

She was the one who should be angry.

"Don't you know that I've always seen Elijah as a younger brother? We grew up playing together, and he knows I'm not... normal," Emma explained to Liam patiently.

In truth, Liam knew that Elijah didn't understand Emma any better than he did. But the anger in his chest was hard to suppress. Every time he thought about how Elijah had talked with Emma in such a close and familiar tone, he wanted to punch Elijah a hundred times over. Even when he was a colonel in the army, his violent temper had never gotten so out of control.

He looked at Emma with a cold smile, then walked to the car and drove off without a word. Emma followed him silently. After getting in the car, she didn't speak. Otherwise, if she said even one casual word, Liam would find a way to choke her all night.

When it came to eloquence, she was no match for Liam.

It was like an egg hitting a rock—the gap between them was too obvious. So she didn't know how to speak up when Liam was talking to Elijah. Otherwise, she was afraid Liam wouldn't let her off easily tonight.

She had experienced this man's stinginess before. Even though he appeared dignified and elegant in public, once it came to matters of the heart, he was utterly unreasonable.

After returning home, Liam didn't say a word to Emma. She felt relieved when she saw him go into the study. She thought it was much better than having him say cold words to her. In a relaxed mood, she took a bath and went to bed early.

But just as she was falling asleep, she felt a sudden weight on her. A warm yet cool hand slipped inside her nightgown. The touch on her skin made her open her eyes.

"How can you—mmph!"

Emma was silenced by his kiss. The air was filled with the scent of cologne. The man's strong, possessive breath surrounded her, and she gradually yielded.

Under the desk lamp, Liam kissed Emma's cherry-pink lips. The soft touch made him want to swallow her whole. His hand took her weak, boneless hand and pressed it against his chest. Looking at her moist eyes, he truly felt that this woman belonged to him at this moment.

Emma was tossed and turned by Liam for a long time. Her hands tightly gripped the sheets, opening and closing with Liam's movements. Her consciousness gradually became hazy. Until her strength was completely drained, he finally let her go.

Emma closed her eyes and leaned against Liam's chest. She wanted to fall asleep immediately. The man's hand roamed over her back, as if to soothe her. As her eyes grew heavy, she finally drifted into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Emma woke up from hunger. She hadn't eaten much last night. When she came back in the evening, she had been almost exhausted by Liam. When she opened her eyes, she wished she could see a plate of braised pork trotters in front of her, so she could happily devour it.

Around her, the man's breathing was even. The weather outside the window hadn't fully brightened yet. Emma looked at the man's sleeping, quiet, handsome face, but she didn't appreciate the beautiful man's sleeping face at all.

She only thought bitterly, Oh no, Liam isn't awake now. Who will make food for me?

Ah, at a critical moment, you still have to do it yourself.

Emma turned over and got out of bed. She found the nightgown that Liam had thrown to the ground and put it back on. Then she opened the bedroom door and went to the refrigerator in the kitchen.

She looked at the ingredients inside. She thought tomatoes could be eaten raw. Well, she could make a tomato salad with sugar. She took out two tomatoes. Then she saw the eggs and thought she could use them for an omelet. She could still handle such a simple process. Then she took out a carton of milk and a sausage. First, she ate a sausage, then she started beating the eggs, planning to fry two omelets.

She thought that Liam usually made breakfast for her, and today she would show off her skills. Breakfast was the easiest, so it shouldn't be difficult for her.

Liam heard the noise in the kitchen. He saw the cold air beside the bed and was quite surprised that Emma had gotten up earlier than him.

So he got up and went to the kitchen to take a look. After a moment of being stunned, he couldn't help but laugh.

He saw the little woman in her snow-white nightgown, her hands now running through her messy hair as she stared at the fried eggs in the frying pan. She seemed to not understand why they had turned out like this. With a somewhat confused look, she was very cute.

Emma heard the laughter and turned to see Liam standing there, not knowing when he had arrived. She felt embarrassed. She had wanted to show off in front of him. But she really hadn't expected that the fantasy would be so full, while reality was so harsh.

"You really don't have a talent for cooking. Well, I'm afraid I'm the only one unlucky enough to have breakfast made by my wife," Liam said with a sigh.

Emma felt like she had been hit with 10,000 points of damage. Unconvinced, she thought that there were so many women in the world who couldn't cook. She wasn't the only one. On the contrary, there were few men like him who could cook.

No matter how unconvinced and unwilling she was, the morning meal was prepared by Liam. It was really more than she could handle. It was very frustrating.

Although Emma was very unwilling, she ate a lot. Who let her be already very hungry? Compared to face, of course, the stomach was the most important.

So she didn't stand on ceremony with Liam and ate most of his breakfast. Fortunately, she didn't have trouble digesting food now. Otherwise, she was afraid Liam wouldn't let her eat so much.
