Chapter 326

Liam drove Emma home. When she stepped out of the bathroom, she found him sitting in the living room, still in his pajamas, watching the news. She felt a little confused. She had assumed he would only stay for one night, but it seemed he planned to return to his apartment again.

Remembering what happened the last time she asked him about his plans, Emma didn't dare to inquire where he would go tonight. She didn't want to make him angry and have him toss her around again.

"I bought some fruit. It's in the kitchen. Go wash some and bring it here."

Liam's eyes never left the television. He didn't even glance in her direction as he spoke.

His tone was so natural, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Emma fumed inwardly. I'm not your maid. Do you think you can order me around like this?

Still, she went to the kitchen to wash the fruit. The truth was, she really wanted some strawberries. So after washing everything, she sat down in the living room for a while.

She imagined each piece of fruit was Liam himself, biting into them with extra force. She kept eating until the fruit plate was empty, and she couldn't take another bite.

Emma soon realized her mistake. The consequence of eating too much was a very uncomfortable stomach. She lay in bed for a long time, unable to fall asleep. Finally, she got up to look for some digestive pills, but the medicine cabinet had everything except those.

"What's wrong?"

Liam had been woken up by her tossing and turning. It was hard not to notice her restlessness.

He used to be a special forces soldier. On missions, even the slightest sound could mean the difference between life and death. So his senses were always sharp. When he heard Emma get out of bed, he followed her.

Emma looked at him with a pained expression, her voice full of complaint.

"Why didn't you buy any digestive pills?"

Liam thought to himself that only children had this kind of problem. Did adults really need to eat this stuff? But seeing how uncomfortable she looked, he understood.

He remembered how she had been biting into the fruit so hard in the living room, and he couldn't help but find it amusing. He knew she was venting her anger. Now she was paying the price.

He shook his head helplessly, wondering how such a careless little woman could have fooled everyone with her excellent acting skills. But he couldn't figure that out right now. He took out his phone and called Dr. Moore, asking him to come to the apartment immediately.

"Don't call Dr. Moore. I just ate too much. I just need some digestive pills," Emma said.

She thought it was an exaggeration to have Dr. Moore come over in the middle of the night. But Liam gave her a cold look.

"If you knew that, why did you eat so much fruit? Then Dr. Moore wouldn't have to come."

Even as he said that, seeing her discomfort, he felt a pang of pity. He picked her up from the floor, sat down on the sofa, and held her in his arms. He reached out and gently massaged her stomach to help with digestion.

"Easy. That hurts."

Liam wasn't using much force, but he was pressing on acupressure points, which inevitably caused some pain. Emma couldn't help but whimper.

"Emma, you're really something. Why didn't you just bite me directly?"

Emma didn't expect him to see through her little scheme. She was so embarrassed she wanted to disappear. A while later, Dr. Moore arrived.

As a nearly middle-aged doctor with excellent skills, Dr. Moore felt very frustrated tonight. He thought the young lady had some kind of emergency, which was why the young master called him in the middle of the night.

But as soon as he arrived, he found out she only had simple indigestion.

Was this the reason he was woken up in the middle of the night?

Dr. Moore was speechless, but he still conscientiously gave Emma an IV drip. Compared to digestive pills, the injection worked much faster. But the feeling of being overqualified for the job depressed him for a long time.

Emma wanted to hide her face the whole time. Even though Dr. Moore didn't say anything, she knew he must be rolling his eyes inside. Who else would do something as embarrassing as getting indigestion in the middle of the night?

She was probably the only person in the whole city who would do something like this.

It was really embarrassing.

Finally, when Dr. Moore left, Emma looked at the needle in the back of her hand and then at the clock on the wall. It was already past one in the morning. If she finished this IV drip, it would be at least two o'clock.

So she looked at Liam.

"Why don't I go to the living room so you can sleep in the bedroom?"

Emma was trying to be considerate. But Liam just gave her a bad look.

"Who's going to take the needle out for you when it's done?"

That question stumped Emma. She really didn't have any experience taking out a needle herself.

"I can do it myself," she said stubbornly.

She thought that even if she hadn't done it before, she had seen nurses do it plenty of times. It couldn't be that hard.

"You're pretty confident. What if you hit a blood vessel and the back of your hand swells up? Then when you have your press conference in a few days, the media will take pictures of it. They'll think I used domestic violence on you."

Emma was confused by his logic. Wasn't it just taking out a needle? How did it become such a serious problem?

She guessed that the mind of a CEO was something a little woman like her could never understand.

Fine, she gave up. Since he didn't appreciate her concern, she wouldn't bother. Besides, the reason she had indigestion was closely related to him. If he was willing to wait for the IV to finish, why should she be so polite?

In the end, Emma fell asleep in bed while the IV was still half full. She didn't even know when Liam took the needle out for her. When she woke up the next morning, she looked at the almost invisible needle mark on the back of her hand and thought that he really was someone with military medical experience. She wondered what else he didn't know.

She had to admit, it was a pity that such a man was her husband, even if it was only temporary.

No wonder so many women looked at her with envy and jealousy.
