Chapter 177

"Well, get some rest. I'll come pick you up tomorrow." Liam let out a soft cough.

Emma felt a bit down. She looked at Liam's smiling face, but she wasn't happy.

She had a feeling Amelia didn't want to see her and Liam happy. Or was she just overthinking it?

"Alright, you should head back early." Emma said, burying her face in the blanket.

...

"Sister Wei, you're being discharged tomorrow afternoon. Can you sneak out with me in the morning? I just saw on TV that the famous violinist, Adrian Rossi, is performing in our city these days. Want to go see the show tomorrow morning?"

After Liam and Amelia left, Emilia looked at Emma with hopeful eyes.

"You like the violin?" Emma was surprised.

"Yes, I've loved it since I was a kid. But my body never let me keep learning."

Emilia's eyes dimmed as she spoke. Her low mood made her look even paler and more fragile.

To be honest, even though Emma was the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine, she wasn't really into high-end, elegant music performances. Could she admit her favorite song was "Little Apple" by the Chopsticks Brothers?

But seeing Emilia's eyes light up so rarely because of that violinist, she couldn't bear to say no.

Besides, she also wanted to get out and breathe some fresh air that didn't smell like hospital disinfectant.

"Alright, let's go see it tomorrow morning."

Emma made up her mind and agreed happily.

Emilia's face lit up with a joyful smile again.

...

"Brother, what were you whispering about with your sister-in-law just now? She looked really embarrassed."

Amelia sat in the back seat, trying to see Liam's expression clearly through the rearview mirror.

That Emma seemed straightforward, not like someone with many schemes. But she was deeper than she appeared. You couldn't underestimate her. Clearly, big brother had been in a bad mood, but she coaxed him with just a few words and he looked much better!

"Nothing."

How could Liam tell Amelia about his love story with Emma? But this short answer only made Amelia more confused.

They drove back to Liam's house in silence.

"Brother, you're back."

It was getting dark. Benjamin stood at the gate, watching Liam and Amelia get out of the car. One was handsome, the other beautiful, like a perfect couple. It stung Benjamin's eyes sharply.

Benjamin's eyes darkened for a moment. Countless irrational, crazy thoughts grew like weeds in his mind. It wasn't until they came up to him that he let his expression return to normal.

"Second brother, my sister-in-law is coming back tomorrow. That's great. That way, I won't have to go to the hospital every day. I think I've lost weight these past few days. It's been so exhausting!" Amelia's tone was light, as if she were joking.

"Amelia, I don't want you to say that again. Especially not in front of Father. Don't let him blame Emma, understand?"

Liam's brows were furrowed, his tone harsh.

The smile on Amelia's face froze. Her hand unconsciously clenched into a fist.

She wanted to say something more, but Liam didn't give her a chance. He went upstairs and ordered the servants to clean the room. It seemed he was waiting for the mistress to come back tomorrow.

"Amelia, don't take big brother's temper to heart. He didn't mean anything by it. By the way, you haven't eaten dinner yet. I asked the kitchen to make some of your favorite dishes. Let's go eat."

Benjamin hid his emotions and comforted her gently.

He wanted Amelia to know that he cared about her more than his brother did.

Amelia turned around and smiled at him. She followed him to dinner without saying another word.

Walking in front of him, Benjamin didn't see that Amelia, who was always sweet and pretty, now had a cold expression. No one knew what kind of thoughts were flashing in her beautiful, clever eyes.

...

The next morning.

After nearly falling asleep who knows how many times, Emma decided she couldn't sit there any longer.

This violinist, Adrian Rossi, was very handsome. But how could she stay awake for the whole performance just because of his looks? His playing was beautiful, too beautiful, and also hypnotic.

Emma's eyelids had been fighting a losing battle ever since she sat down about five minutes ago. As soon as she closed her eyes, she would fall into a deep sleep.

She looked over at Emilia, who was listening with complete fascination. Her look of worship was way too obvious. Her eyes were bright and shining, like a completely different person from the one in the hospital ward.

Emma had no choice but to make up an excuse about buying drinks and went outside to get some fresh air.

Just outside the corridor, Daniel Taylor was walking this way with someone. When Daniel saw her, he whispered something to the person beside him. That person nodded and walked into the concert hall with a smile.

Before going in, that person also gave Emma a strange look. For no reason, Emma wanted to give her an unladylike eye roll.

"Why are you here?" Emma looked at Daniel and asked.

"I didn't expect to run into you while bringing a client to see the show. I guess we're quite fated to meet."

The smile on Daniel's face seemed genuinely happy.

Emma's expression was indifferent.

"Emilia and I were bored in the hospital, so we came to see the violinist's concert. Emilia is inside. Do you want to see her?"

Anyway, Emilia and Daniel had some history. Emma thought he would agree.

Unexpectedly, Daniel just shook his head without any expression.

"Since she's fine, I have no need to see her."

Such cold words made Emma want to kick him. For a man with such a handsome face, he was a real jerk.

Every time Emma saw him, she was more glad she had mistaken him for someone else during that blind date.

"It's a pity your wedding with Liam didn't happen. It seems Liam doesn't care that much about you. If he really doesn't want to marry you, I could reluctantly take you in. Want to think about it?"

Liam's marriage was big news in the city. It wasn't hard for Daniel to find out.

Emma thought this man was incredibly arrogant. As if, as long as he nodded, countless women would throw themselves at him. Shameless!

She couldn't help but roll her eyes. Emma turned around, planning to ignore this boring man. But she didn't expect him to grab her right wrist, stopping her from leaving.
