“I see!” Evelyn nodded slowly.

So that was what she was worried about.

“Besides, I’m happy that Gray is married!” Owen continued.

“Why?” Evelyn didn’t understand.

“When Gray gets married, I lose a strong competitor!” Owen said with a grin.

“Competitor? Aren’t you two lovers?” Evelyn blurted out.

Owen had just picked up his juice for a sip. When he heard Evelyn’s words, the juice in his mouth sprayed out instantly.

Evelyn had been in a daze for nearly an hour after returning to her dorm from lunch with Owen.

Then she sighed.

Even Emily noticed something was wrong. “Evelyn, what’s going on with you?”

“Nothing!” Evelyn lifted her head and sighed again.

She was such an embarrassment.

Later, when Owen realized she had always thought Alexander and he were a gay couple, his jaw nearly dropped.

“Lovers? You mean me and Gray?”

“Yes, aren’t you gay?” Evelyn answered innocently, her voice barely a whisper.

Owen froze for a moment, but the next second he burst out laughing, drawing stares from others.

Evelyn was mortified. She could only tug at Owen’s sleeve from time to time, trying to make him restrain himself and mind his image.

Owen finally managed to hold back his laughter. He looked at Evelyn and asked, “How could you think that about me and Gray—”

He couldn’t finish. He started laughing again.

Finally, he decided it wasn’t suitable to gossip here. He needed to find another place.

So he paid the bill directly, and then he and Evelyn walked out of the snack bar.

They ended up sitting on a bench in the nearby park. Owen continued his gossip. “How could you think me and Gray were a couple?”

“Aren’t you?” Evelyn asked.

“Of course not!”

“Oh!”

“You haven’t answered my question yet!”

“Then I must have made a mistake!” Evelyn said.

So embarrassing!

So Owen wasn’t Alexander’s lover.

That meant Alexander’s lover was someone else.

She had gotten the wrong person!

“You still haven’t answered my question!” Owen insisted.

“What question?” Evelyn began to play dumb.

Oh no, had she revealed Alexander’s secret!

“Don’t play dumb. Why did you think Gray was gay?”

“Isn’t he?”

“Of course not. He’s straighter than a straight man!”

“The opposite is true!”

“What?”

“Nothing!” Evelyn shook her head.

“You don’t think Gray married you just because he was gay, do you?” Evelyn shut her mouth and didn’t answer.

“No way, that’s it! Ha ha, Gray would go crazy if he knew what you thought. I’ve never seen Gray lose it before. I’m kind of curious—”

Evelyn suddenly felt a chill. Was this guy Alexander’s brother?

Why did he enjoy kicking people when they were down so much!

“Of course not!” Evelyn stubbornly answered against her will.

“Well, first you answer my question. How could you think me and Gray were a couple?”

“You look like good friends!” Evelyn replied innocently.

“Wait, why did you think it was me and Gray, not Lucas and Gray? Have you met Lucas?” Owen seized on the point.

“…” Evelyn pursed her lips and stayed silent.

“Evelyn, if you answer my question, I won’t tell Gray that you think he’s gay!” Owen tempted.

Evelyn stared at him and didn’t speak.

“I promise!”

“If I tell you the truth, what if you get angry?” Evelyn hesitated.

“I promise I won’t get angry!”

“Really?”

“I swear on my character!”

“Do you have character?” Evelyn couldn’t help muttering.

“What?”

“Nothing, nothing. Maybe I misunderstood. I just think you and Alexander are more suited for each other.”

“Why do you think that me and Gray are a good match?”

“Because you’re very handsome. You can tell just by looking at you!” Evelyn said, jumping off the bench and taking two steps back.

She stared at Owen warily.

She thought that if he got angry and went crazy, she would run away immediately.

Owen froze for a moment, then looked both angry and amused. “You’re actually using my good looks against me!”

“…”

Owen propped his cheek on his hand and looked at Evelyn helplessly. “What am I going to do with you?”

“You promised just now that if I told you the truth, you wouldn’t be angry!”

“I’m not angry now. I’m just speechless! Where on earth did you come from? How could you have such an idea?”

“I’m not from anywhere special!” Evelyn retorted.

“Fine, fine, you’re not special. You’re just unique!”

“…” Evelyn didn’t talk to Owen directly.

“Does Gray know what you think?”

“That’s between me and my husband. It’s none of your business!” Evelyn said.

Since Owen wasn’t Alexander’s lover, she didn’t have to be afraid of him.

“I’ve known Gray for over twenty years. This is the first time I’ve heard someone say he likes men!” Owen said, and couldn’t help laughing again.

Evelyn glared at Owen.

Later, maybe Owen had laughed enough. After seeing Evelyn back to school, he drove off.

Evelyn returned to the dormitory. She sat at her desk, chin in hand, thinking about the evening’s events, her face full of gloom.

She had made a fool of herself at the restaurant.

How could she have thought Owen and Alexander were lovers?

So Evelyn began to review the causes of this misunderstanding from the beginning.

First, Ethan had told her that Alexander was gay.

Then, Owen had called Alexander’s apartment. She thought Owen was Alexander’s lover. Finally, on the boat, Alexander had answered a call from Owen, saying “a day apart feels like three months,” which made her guess seem even more real.

So she had misunderstood that Alexander and Owen were a couple.

Alas, now she found out that although they were a pair, they were brothers, not lovers.

She had made a huge joke.

What was even more depressing was that Owen had guessed she married Alexander because Alexander was gay.

But Owen said Alexander was straighter than a straight man.

Now the question was, did Owen not know the truth about Alexander being gay, or had Ethan lied to her from the start?

If Owen didn’t know, then she had just revealed Alexander’s secret.

If Ethan had lied to her from the start, then Alexander wasn’t gay at all.

Evelyn couldn’t help groaning. No matter what the result was, she felt her fate would be miserable.

At that moment, her phone rang. Evelyn was startled.

She thought it was Alexander calling.

After checking the caller ID, she breathed a sigh of relief.

It was from home.

Evelyn answered. Her mother asked why she hadn’t come home this week.

Evelyn said she had an activity on Saturday and asked her mother if there was anything wrong.

Her mother said if there was nothing wrong, she would come home and stew something to nourish her body.

She would go back another time.

After receiving the call from home, Evelyn continued to be in a daze.

It wasn’t until Emily said the lights were going out soon.

Evelyn looked at the time and found it was almost eleven o’clock.

And she hadn’t taken a shower yet!

She quickly grabbed her clothes and went to the bathroom to shower.

Otherwise, she would have to wait until later!

Evelyn was worried for two days, but she didn’t receive a phone call from Alexander demanding an explanation. So she gradually relaxed.

Owen probably wasn’t that ungrateful. He wouldn’t go directly to Alexander to report.

So she breathed a long sigh of relief and went about her business.

Besides, she had to hurry up and review for the final exams. She didn’t have the energy to think about these things.

On the day Alexander called Evelyn, Evelyn had just come out of the library. She was still thinking about a financial statement problem when she felt her phone vibrating in her bag. Evelyn took out her phone and answered. “Hello—”

“Do you have class tonight?”

Evelyn heard Alexander’s voice on the other end and immediately shivered. The next second, she answered, “No class. No class recently. The final exams are starting. Are you back?”

“I just got off the plane. I’ll pick you up later for dinner.”

“Oh, okay!” Evelyn said, then hesitated. “That… you just got off the plane. Are you very tired? Do you want to go back and rest first? We can have dinner together tomorrow!”

“Are you busy?” Alexander asked.

“No, I’m just afraid you’re too tired!” Evelyn replied awkwardly.

“I’m fine.”

“Oh!”

“I’ll call you when I get there.”

“Okay!” Evelyn said.

After talking to Alexander, Evelyn sighed. Did Alexander know about it?

It seemed he didn’t!

That should be okay!

Calm down for a long time. When the boat reaches the bridge, it will go straight. Don’t scare yourself first.

Because Alexander was coming to pick her up for dinner.

She didn’t go to the cafeteria.

She went straight back to the dormitory, took a shower, and changed clothes. While continuing to read, she waited for Alexander’s call.

After Alexander called, Evelyn told Emily, grabbed her bag, and walked out of the dormitory.

“What has Evelyn been busy with lately? Why does she go home so often?” Stella asked Emily.

“Yeah, you didn’t mention it, but I haven’t noticed. Evelyn’s been staying in the dormitory a lot less than usual lately!” Emily echoed.

“Hasn’t her family settled down yet?”

“Last time I heard her say it had been settled!”

“It can’t be that she’s going on dates!” Stella said with a smile.

“Dates? It’s possible. Evelyn has been going out after answering the phone lately.” Emily nodded.

“Someone in our dormitory has finally ended their single life!” Stella echoed with emotion.
