Chapter 324

"Fine!" Evelyn had to agree.

She planned to call Amy Harper later to ask about the situation. What was going on?

Even though she had submitted her resignation, it was the end of the month. Even if she left early, there should be a handover period!

She didn't want to stop working until the end of the month. She was afraid her mother wouldn't hear clearly, which would affect the handover.

After breakfast, Evelyn went back to her bedroom to change clothes. She made time to call Amy Harper.

Amy Harper explained on the other end of the line.

"Work hasn't been as heavy lately, so I let her go home early to rest."

"She knows most of the tasks she handles. If anything is unclear, just call her again. Let her focus on the pregnancy at home. When the time comes, I'll share the good news with you."

Evelyn thanked Amy Harper. She said she would let her know when the baby was born. She also thanked her for all the help during this period.

Then she wanted to invite her to dinner sometime.

Amy Harper said to just wait for her to give birth and invite everyone to the celebration. Now she wasn't feeling well, so it wasn't necessary.

Evelyn laughed. She was eating for two, not doing any heavy work, but she couldn't argue with Amy Harper. She had to say she could invite everyone to dinner another day when they were all free.

After the call, Evelyn felt relieved. Now she could focus on waiting for labor.

Then she thought about going to burn incense with her mother. Evelyn picked out an outfit and went into the bathroom to change.

The temple was built on the hillside. Although the car could drive up the mountain road, there was still a path to walk after getting out. Evelyn accompanied her mother as they slowly walked up.

She didn't feel anything special. On the contrary, her mother was worried she couldn't handle the distance and told her to rest.

"Mom, it's more uncomfortable to walk and stop like this. It's better to just climb up all at once!" Evelyn said with a smile.

"I'm just worried about your body!"

"I'm fine, and the baby is fine too!" Evelyn said, stroking her stomach.

"Don't touch your stomach if you have nothing to do!" Amelia Vance stared at Evelyn and reminded her. Then she let Evelyn walk in front and continue up.

After devoutly burning incense and worshiping Buddha.

Amelia Vance asked Evelyn to sit in the rest area first. Then she took the fortune sticks to ask the master to interpret them.

Evelyn sat down on a chair in the rest area. She enjoyed the scenery at the foot of the mountain while waiting for her mother.

This temple was built in the middle of the mountain. Every time she came to burn incense and worship Buddha, she had to walk a mountain path. Even so, the incense was still very popular.

Her mother had brought her here twice before.

She remembered that before she registered with Alexander, and some time ago, her mother had brought her.

But this time, she came to fulfill a wish!

The cool wind blew slowly. It carried a faint smell of rosin, making her feel like a hermit.

The world seemed to have isolated itself from her at this moment. Her heart calmed down. She felt the smallness and heaviness of life.

Evelyn closed her eyes. She seemed to feel the baby's heartbeat superimposed with her own. It beat in a regular and powerful way. This was the power of life.

At this moment, Evelyn suddenly wanted to share her feelings with Alexander.

So she took out her phone and called him.

No one answered!

She thought he was busy at the moment.

So she opened the video function on her phone. She recorded the hillside scenery. Then she sent it to Alexander with a paragraph of text.

She had become more and more used to sharing her experiences with him.

Even if it was just a feeling, a scenery.

After her mother finished, she came over and said to Evelyn.

"There's fruit in the bag. Wash it and eat it first!"

"Mom, I'm not hungry!" Evelyn responded.

"If you're not hungry, the baby will be hungry. I'll wash whatever you want to eat."

"I'll go wash it!" Evelyn said in compromise.

She picked a bunch of grapes from the bag and washed them in the sink.

After a snack and a rest, she went down the mountain with her mother.

Along the way, her mother told her that during this period, she should go out as little as possible. She should focus on raising the baby at home.

Although Evelyn thought it wouldn't be that boring?

But what her mother said, she nodded and agreed.

Promise first, or her mother wouldn't stop talking.

She didn't know if it was because she was getting older. Her mother was more and more nagging now.

Sometimes it made her head spin.

At noon, she received a phone call from Alexander. He asked her where she went in the morning. The scenery was very good!

Evelyn said she went to burn incense with her mother. She took pictures of the hillside scenery.

"Are you off work?" Evelyn asked.

"Almost. I'll go down for dinner later."

"You have to eat first. You always forget to eat every time you are busy."

"When did you come here last night?" Evelyn smiled.

"Late. You fell asleep, so I didn't call you!" Alexander responded.

"Why don't you listen? Just go home and sleep. You can't get used to the strange bed here."

"As long as you are by my side, I can sleep everywhere!" Alexander said calmly.

Evelyn smiled again.

"More and more smooth talk."

"Don't you think I'm telling the truth?" Alexander asked.

"Yes, it's a lovely truth!" Evelyn said with a smile. "Go to dinner. It's 12:30."

"I'll go back in the afternoon. You just go home from work. You don't have to come to pick me up."

"Evelyn, let's live with your parents these days first!"

"Lily Thompson asked for leave and went back. I'm afraid no one will take care of you!" Alexander said.

"Lily Thompson asked for leave? What's the matter?" Evelyn asked.

Before going out yesterday, she didn't hear Lily Thompson say she was going to ask for leave. Why did she suddenly ask for leave?

"Something happened at home!"

"Oh, it doesn't matter. I can take care of myself."

"Be good, obedient. Now that you are pregnant, I don't trust you being home alone."

"Lily Thompson asked for leave for a few days. She'll be back soon. When you come back home, I can rest assured that Lily Thompson will take care of you!" Alexander continued.

"Oh, how many days is Lily Thompson asking for leave?"

"She'll be back in two days."

"Then explain to mom. Or I'll live at my mother's house. I'm afraid mom will misunderstand me." Evelyn had no choice but to compromise.

"I'll tell mom. You don't have to worry. Take care of yourself!"

"I know. How did you become as wordy as my mom!" Evelyn said with a smile.

After the call with Alexander, Evelyn sat at the head of the bed and sighed.

Since she became pregnant, she seemed to be getting smaller. Especially, she felt she couldn't take care of herself.

Everyone helped her do everything well. What she wanted to do had to be approved. They were afraid she would miss something.

She had always felt she wasn't so vulnerable. Besides, many people were pregnant and still went to work as usual. Now she didn't have to work. It was much better.

Everyone was still taking care of her so carefully that she felt she had become delicate.

She couldn't help sighing.

The next second, she felt she couldn't sigh. Otherwise, it would affect the baby's mood.

The so-called mother and son heart to heart. Her mood would directly affect the baby in her belly. So she had to maintain an optimistic, positive, and cheerful attitude.

So Evelyn didn't worry about this problem anymore. She put her phone on the bedside table and began to take a nap.
