"I don't know why. He said that, and it just got to me.

Later, when we spent time together, I found him steady and ambitious. He always took care of me. So I fell for him." Victoria didn't hide a thing.

"Sis, you should spend more time with Aiden. Get to know him better before you think about marriage." Evie warned.

"I don't want to get married. Mom keeps pushing me.

But she's stopped now. I'm afraid if she nags me, I'll blurt it out to Aiden on impulse." Victoria laughed on the other end of the phone.

"Sis, marriage is a spur-of-the-moment thing. Anyway, if you two are a good fit, it's fine to take it slow." Evie said.

"There's nothing impulsive about it. We're just dating for now.

Even if we get married and it doesn't work out, we can always leave."

"Sis, you can't think like that. Marriage is sacred. How can you be so casual?" Evie asked, surprised.

"Don't worry. No matter how fast I am, I won't be as fast as you and Alexander." Victoria blurted out.

"Sis, that's different. If I had a choice back then, Alexander and I wouldn't have married in such a hurry." Evie muttered awkwardly.

"Sorry, I didn't mean anything by it. But I just don't take it that seriously. Whatever happens, happens."

"Well, I don't take it that seriously either. But I can't be careless! Sis, we have to hold on to our lifelong happiness." Evie said with a smile.

"I know. How did you get more long-winded than me?"

"Because I care about you, sis."

"You'd better worry about yourself now. If you're sure about something, don't forget to tell me and Mom and Dad."

"I know." Evie muttered.

"I'll let you go now. I'm going to take a bath. Thanks again for tonight, you and Alexander."

"Sis, you're still being polite to me?" Evie couldn't help but laugh.

"You're welcome." Victoria said, and laughed.

Evie laughed too.

After hanging up with Victoria, Evie went downstairs.

Alexander was sitting on the living room sofa, watching the TV news.

"Aren't you making a midnight snack?" Evie asked, puzzled.

"Lily is cooking. I'm just being lazy." Alexander said with a smile. "You're done talking to Victoria?"

"Yeah. How did you know she called me?"

"When you answered the phone, you called her 'sis.' If I didn't know that, I'd be senile."

"Nonsense!" Evie laughed and scolded him, walking over to sit down beside him.

"Victoria asked you about Aiden?"

"Yeah." Evie nodded. "But I didn't say anything."

"I didn't say anything to you. What were you supposed to say?" Alexander said with a smile.

"Exactly! You didn't tell me anything. So I had nothing to say." Evie said.

Alexander touched her head.

Evie took his hand and continued.

"But my sister told me about her first meeting with Aiden. I think he's really smart, just like you said."

"How so?" Alexander asked.

Evie repeated what Victoria had said, then continued.

"He seems to understand people's psychology. He knows how to cater to them."

Alexander smiled and didn't offer any opinion.

Just then, Lily came out and told them the seafood noodles were ready. If the young master and young lady had nothing else, she would go back to rest first.

Alexander nodded and told her to go ahead.

Lily left Sterling Manor and closed the door.

Alexander pulled Evie up and led her into the dining room to eat the seafood noodles.

"Lily's cooking is getting better and better." Evie said, smelling the aroma.

"Are you going to learn from her again?" Alexander joked.

"With her around, I don't need to learn." Evie replied with a smile.

After washing her hands, she came over with the seafood noodles. She had a bowl, and Alexander had a bowl.

Then she sat down and ate the noodles with relish.

"It's been a long time." She couldn't help muttering.

"I said I'd take you running, but I never actually followed through until now."

Evie chuckled.

"Don't bother with running. It's good enough for you to take me to play ball or swim. Oh, and I can't do strenuous exercise right now."

Evie suddenly remembered she was pregnant and raised her hand with a smile.

"No, it's not confirmed yet." Alexander said, laughing and crying.

"Anyway, the doctor told me to be careful. It's fine as long as we get through the danger period." Evie said confidently.

"Danger period?" Alexander looked at her, chewing on the words she just said.

Evie felt embarrassed.

"I was just describing it."

"Okay, eat your noodles." Alexander said.

Evie smiled and continued eating.

Alexander peeled the shrimp and put them in her bowl.

"Did you wash your hands?" Evie asked, biting into a shrimp.

"No." Alexander said on purpose.

"It's fine. If it's not clean, I won't get sick from eating it." Evie comforted herself.

Alexander looked at her helplessly.

"Don't think I'm forgetful. You washed your hands with me just now."

"Then why did you ask?"

"I just forgot."

"You're not forgetful yet."

"It's just temporary amnesia."

"You have so many adjectives." Alexander said with a smile.

"Thank you for the compliment." Evie replied with a smile.

"How do we talk so much when we eat?

Wait, is there a rule in our family that we don't talk when we eat and don't talk when we sleep?"

"I haven't forgotten. But there's also a rule in our family that family harmony brings everything happiness.

Talking while eating also promotes communication, cultivates feelings, and keeps the family harmonious." Evie said confidently.

Alexander was a little speechless.

He knew she was being unreasonable, but sometimes he didn't want to argue.

"You're happy." Alexander finally had to say.

Evie smiled triumphantly.

After eating the seafood noodles, Evie had to stand in front of the second-floor windowsill to cool down and digest.

Otherwise, it would be too hard to go to bed later.

That was the tragedy of chatting while eating. You always ended up eating too much.

Luckily, she didn't gain weight easily.

Otherwise, with her appetite, she would be a fat pig by now.

According to Alexander, she could be sold at a good price.

But fat meat wasn't as valuable as lean meat.

Evie added.

After resting for more than half an hour, she went into the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face.

Then she looked at herself in the mirror. Her face seemed a little rounder.

"This is a lucky face. A face that brings fortune to her husband." Evie affirmed to herself.

The next second, she heard Alexander's laughter.
