Chapter 257

"I'm swamped!" Evelyn Sterling said.

"Like I ever work a regular job. I sleep till noon. Now we have to juggle the company and school!" Emily Hart echoed.

"By the way, you mentioned you were going to run some business. How did it go?" Evelyn asked.

"It's just average for now. It's not easy anyway. My mentor said if I don't put in the effort, there won't be any results. So I have to get out there and hustle more!"

"Stay safe too!"

"Yeah, I will. Besides, I'm not as tough as you. I need to be extra careful about my personal safety!"

"What, everyone should be careful. Maybe someone prefers you... Go on, go on, don't get cheeky with your sister!" Emily said, waving her hands.

Evelyn burst out laughing.

The two of them ate for nearly two hours. By the end, the dishes were cold.

At the start, the hall was nearly empty. Later, it was packed with guests. Finally, everyone had paid and left. They were still eating slowly.

"No wonder buffets set a time limit. If everyone ate like us, they'd go broke!" Emily said with a smile.

"Actually, we just talk a lot. We don't eat much. You've seen three dishes, but now they're gone!" Evelyn said.

"That's true!" Emily nodded and laughed.

Evelyn paid the bill. Emily gave her half the money. Evelyn said no. Emily said, how can that work? Splitting the bill is splitting the bill. Treating is treating.

In the end, Evelyn took it.

"Do you have any plans later?" Emily asked Evelyn.

Evelyn shook her head. She was still thinking about going back to sleep.

"Then go back to the dorm to rest. Talk to the counselor this afternoon?" Emily suggested.

"Okay, but I might have to go back after four o'clock!"

"Okay, do you still want to talk to the counselor until evening and invite her to dinner?" Emily replied with a smile.

"It's okay to invite her to dinner, but I have to get back early!" Evelyn followed with a smile.

So they went straight back to the dormitory.

Evelyn's bed hadn't been slept in for a while. She was too lazy to tidy it up. She directly shared the bed with Emily.

"I haven't slept with you in a long time!" Emily sighed.

"Why does that sound so ambiguous?" Evelyn said with a smile.

"Haha, that's it, honey. Do you miss me?"

"No!" Evelyn shook her head with a smile.

"I miss you so much!"

"You think you're a comedian? Still using that kind of opening line!"

"Ha ha—" Emily burst out laughing.

The bed vibrated and shook. Evelyn was so startled she was afraid the bed would collapse. She cried out, "Stop laughing, stop laughing! Wait a minute, the bed is going to collapse!"

"Your head is going to collapse! We don't even weigh 250 pounds combined!"

"We don't weigh 250, but if you shake like that, the vibration could easily cause resonance!"

"Ha ha!" Emily laughed even more wildly, almost shaking all over.

After a long pause, a sentence suddenly appeared. "Do you think our vibration is like bed vibration?"

"Shake your head. Do you want to sleep or not?" Evelyn answered after a long, speechless pause.

"Sleep, sleep, sleep. Or I'll lose my spirit again this afternoon!" Emily said with a smile.

Finally, the two of them stopped. They could finally have a good nap.

In the afternoon, they went to the counselor's office with some students.

They were interning at different companies. As soon as they met, they had a lot of topics to talk about. The counselor's office suddenly became a marketplace.

Of course, the most popular topic was whether they could successfully sign a contract after the internship.

Some students had already signed contracts. The rest could only work harder and strive to sign one.

After all, it's not easy to find a job now, let alone one with suitable conditions in all aspects.

"Evelyn, Emily, how are you two doing?"

"We won't know the result until at least next month!" Emily replied. "Right, Evelyn?"

Evelyn nodded.

"It would be great if you could sign the contract. I heard Sterling Group's salary and benefits are very good!" a student said.

"There are harder companies to get into than Sterling Group! There's a bank that recruited dozens of interns. I heard only three or four can stay in the end! Basically, except for those who are outstanding enough or have connections, they're just getting their internship reports!" another student replied.

"Not all of them. Before, Sterling Group said they would recruit ten interns. I heard they received thousands of resumes alone. In the end, I don't know how many can successfully sign the contract," Emily followed. "Alas, it's like thousands of troops crossing a single-plank bridge! It's more terrifying than the college entrance exam!"

"The college entrance exam only depends on scores. Finding a job depends not only on ability, but also on comprehensive quality and background!"

"Yes, what we learned in school isn't enough. A lot of it is used during the internship process!"

"That's it!"

Everyone talked about real life, about the company, about future work, and even about school gossip.

The counselor also gave them some advice from past experience.

It was almost five o'clock when they left the counselor's office.

"Have you noticed that many people change when they enter society?" Emily sighed at this time.

"Yes, school is still relatively simple. Society and the workplace are more complicated!" Evelyn nodded.

"Well, some people did well in school before, but they hit a wall everywhere when looking for a job. It's not that they have no ability, but they can't adapt. Sociology is the best course and the hardest credit! I'm really afraid I won't get that credit!"

"No, you work so hard. There's no problem!"

"Sometimes the method is also very important. Hard work doesn't always get results. If you're going in the wrong direction, no matter how hard you try, you're just getting farther from your destination!"

"If you study hard with your mentor, you won't be going in the wrong direction!"

"I think the same way. So now I've been flattering my mentor's wife, trying to save the country through a curve, and let my mentor teach me more!" Emily said and laughed.

"You see, you're so smart. You know all these things. What are you afraid of?"

"Alas, I'm really afraid that smart will be mistaken by smart! My mentor said I'm a little smart, but he's afraid I won't use it in the right way!"

"We're just on the right path!"

Emily turned to Evelyn and said with a smile, "Evelyn, you've become Zen now!"

"Haha, I don't want to become a monk!" Evelyn said with a smile and shook her head.

"Don't worry, you're so beautiful. Buddhism won't let you become a monk, so as not to disturb the hearts of other practitioners!" Emily teased.
