The smile on Evelyn's face vanished instantly. She muttered in protest, "Why do you always call me silly!"

"Being silly is cute!" Alexander said.

"..."

"You're really beautiful, piggy!" Alexander continued.

"Huh?" Evelyn looked at him, confused by his sudden words.

"Didn't you just ask if you were beautiful? I was just answering your question!" Alexander explained.

Evelyn blushed deeply. She mumbled, "Don't talk to people when they're sleep-talking!"

Alexander just smiled at her and said nothing more.

Feeling embarrassed, Evelyn got up to find something to do.

Then she heard Alexander say, "No matter how beautiful you are, piggy, don't let your eyes wander!"

Evelyn almost tripped. She glared at him angrily. "You're the one whose eyes wander!"

"Don't talk nonsense." Evelyn finished speaking, but she couldn't help laughing. She went downstairs to brew some tea and grab some snacks to bring up.

On the weekend, Evelyn went back to her mother's house.

She heard that her sister Victoria was sick and had been staying home these days.

Evelyn went upstairs and knocked on Victoria's door.

Victoria's angry voice came from inside. "I said I don't want to eat!"

Evelyn pushed the door open. "Sister, it's me!"

"Evelyn?" Victoria was stunned for a moment.

Evelyn entered the bedroom and closed the door. She sat down by the bed. "Sister, what's wrong with you?"

"I feel terrible all over!" Victoria replied irritably.

"Have you seen a doctor?"

"What doctor? I'd rather just die!" Victoria snapped.

"Sister, what's going on with you?" Evelyn asked anxiously.

"Did Mom tell you I was sick?"

"Yes, she did," Evelyn answered.

"Mom is the one who's sick!" Victoria said angrily.

"Sister, how can you say that about Mom? What happened?" Evelyn asked, frowning.

"It's Mom's old-fashioned thinking. What kind of society is this? What does 'right family' even mean anymore?" Victoria replied, depressed.

"What do you mean? What's wrong?" Evelyn was even more confused.

"Mom is against me being with my boyfriend! Just because his family is poor! She was always urging me to find a boyfriend before, and now that I have one, she doesn't like him because he has no background or money. How can she be so snobbish?"

"Sister, when did you get a boyfriend?" Evelyn asked curiously. "I haven't heard anything about it!"

"I've only been dating him for two months. I brought him home a few days ago for Mom and Dad to meet. When Mom heard he was from the countryside, she didn't even give him a good look." Victoria turned her eyes away.

"Sister, I think Mom just wants what's best for you. Don't be angry with her. Talk to her. Tell her what's good about this guy. Why do you like him? Maybe after she hears it, she won't object to you two being together!" Evelyn said patiently.

"Mom won't listen to me. As soon as she heard he was from the countryside, she called him a gold digger. She completely refuses to accept us being together." Victoria replied.

"Sister, you're too angry right now to talk to Mom. Besides, she already has a bad impression of your boyfriend. If you really want to be with him, talk to Mom and Dad properly. Or, make an appointment and we can all have a meal together. I can help you check him out too!" Evelyn suggested.

"You'll be just as snobbish as Mom!" Victoria replied.

"How can you say that? I haven't even met him yet. I can't be biased against him! Besides, Mom and Dad aren't from the countryside either!" Evelyn said indignantly.

"Sister, don't be angry. Mom might have other reasons. Let me talk to her later. Maybe I can find out the real reason!"

Victoria looked at Evelyn hesitantly. Finally, she nodded. "Anyway, you tell Mom that I'm going to be with Aiden no matter what. She can do whatever she wants!" Victoria answered firmly.

"Sister, there you go again. Didn't I tell you not to be angry first?"

"I'm not angry with Mom yet!"

"Don't be angry, don't be angry. Eat something first. Later, Mom is going shopping. I'll go with her and have a good talk with her. Don't worry!"

"Okay!" Victoria looked at Evelyn and finally nodded in compromise.

"Then get up and wash up quickly. I'm going shopping with Mom!" Evelyn said, getting up and leaving Victoria's room.

"How is your sister?" Amelia saw Evelyn come downstairs and asked.

"I told her to come down and eat first. Let's go shopping first!"

"What do you need to buy? I just bought a ton of stuff yesterday!" Amelia said.

"Come on, Mom. You have to come with me for a walk!" Evelyn took her mother's arm and acted coquettishly.

Amelia looked at her youngest daughter helplessly. In the end, she couldn't refuse and nodded in agreement.

After getting her wallet, she went out with her youngest daughter.

"Mom, what's wrong with my sister's boyfriend?"

"Don't even mention it. I almost got so angry I passed out. Your sister is talented and beautiful. Why does she need a boyfriend like that? Instead, she found me a gold digger!" Amelia said angrily.

"Mom, what's a gold digger?" Evelyn asked deliberately.

"Where have you been studying? You don't even know what a gold digger is. You know Aunt Maggie's daughter next door. Such a beautiful girl, and she fell in love with a gold digger. She ignored her family's objections and insisted on marrying him. Now, the two of them are getting divorced, and the man has the nerve to try and take half of everything! If your sister insists on being with that man, I won't object to it. I just won't have her as a daughter anymore!"

"Mom, it's not that serious! Just because her boyfriend is from the countryside, you object to them being together? In the future, they don't have to live in the countryside. They can come to the city and buy a house!" Evelyn patiently advised her mother.

"You think your mother is such a snob that she looks down on a young man from the countryside!" Amelia glanced at her youngest daughter and asked angrily.

"I know Mom isn't that kind of person. That's why I'm so confused. I'm just asking!" Evelyn replied with a smile.

"At first, your sister brought her boyfriend home. Your father and I were very happy. We had a good chat at the beginning. I was quite satisfied with this young man. He was gentle and polite. Even though he's from the countryside, he seemed very progressive. It's not easy for him to go to university from the countryside, let alone work here after graduation. But when I found out about his family background, I knew it was absolutely impossible." Amelia said.
