Chapter 25

"Good!" Evelyn nodded for a long time. She was actually quite curious.

"A hundred each!" Ethan Sterling smiled as he bid.

"No way!" Evelyn shot Ethan a look and curled her lips in refusal.

"Why are you so stingy? I'm only charging you a hundred. If anyone else wanted to see it, I'd charge at least five hundred. You're married to my uncle now. You're a super-rich woman. And you're still being cheap about this little bit of money?"

"Why should I pay to see my own husband's photos?" Evelyn blurted out. She felt embarrassed the moment she finished speaking.

Then she heard Ethan murmur, "That's true!"

Evelyn was speechless.

"Forget it, I'll show you for free!" Ethan finished, pulled out his phone, opened his album, found his uncle's photo, and handed it to Evelyn.

She stared at it for a long time. Then she wrinkled her face and turned to ask Ethan, "Why are there only side profiles? No front-facing photos?"

"Idiot, these are candid shots. Of course, there are only side profiles. My uncle doesn't like having his picture taken!"

"You secretly took photos of your uncle and sold them. That's a violation of his right to privacy, you know!" Evelyn said angrily.

"Auntie, why are you more serious than my uncle? My uncle's personality is so boring. Don't be like him! Otherwise, your married life will be so dull and tedious." Ethan sighed.

"Mind your own business!" Evelyn's face turned bright red.

Ethan immediately laughed and continued, "Actually, if you want to know what my uncle looks like, just look at me. People say I look a lot like him!"

Evelyn actually stared at Ethan with a serious expression. Ethan blushed a little. Then he heard Evelyn ask hesitantly, "Are you sure your uncle looks like you?"

"At most, he's an older version of me! What? My uncle is very handsome."

Evelyn was speechless again. "If he really looks like you, that's a bit too pretty. He'd seem effeminate."

"Auntie, is it really okay to attack me like this?" Ethan immediately looked like he was about to cry.

"Don't misunderstand. I'm not attacking you. I just think you're too beautiful. More beautiful than a woman!"

Ethan felt like he'd been struck by lightning. "Where am I more beautiful than a woman?"

"Your face! Your skin is very delicate, fair and rosy. And your eyes are very beautiful. They seem specially designed to lure souls. So this is what a gay man looks like!" Evelyn praised casually, then came to a conclusion.

Ethan almost blurted out— Who said I was gay?

The next second, he remembered how he had tricked Evelyn at the coffee shop. So he forced the words back down.

After a long pause, he asked, "Evelyn, you didn't marry my uncle just because he's one of them, did you?"

"One of what?" Evelyn looked at Ethan and asked.

"Gay!" Ethan touched his nose.

Evelyn looked around for a long time, then nodded and said, "Yes."

Ethan choked on his own saliva and coughed endlessly!

Evelyn looked at Ethan anxiously. She hesitated for a moment, then patted Ethan on the back, trying to help him stop coughing.

Ethan jumped away as if shocked by electricity. After coughing several times, he finally caught his breath. Then he said, "Why?"

"What? Why what?" Evelyn looked at Ethan curiously. She thought this beautiful boy was really strange. Why did he always say half of what he meant?

"Why did you want to marry my uncle if he's gay?"

"That way, as long as we're married, we don't have to become a real couple! Anyway, you wouldn't understand! Aren't you going to show me around your house? Why don't you introduce it to me?" Evelyn awkwardly changed the subject.

Ethan looked at Evelyn like she was a monster. He felt that her brain structure was very wonderful. He never thought he would meet someone even more wonderful than himself!

"That's a beautiful house. Who lives there?" Evelyn asked, pointing to the solemn carved gate in front of her. Since Ethan wasn't a competent guide, she took the initiative to ask.

"The ancestors lived there!"

"What?" Evelyn turned her head to look at Ethan. She hadn't heard clearly.

"That's the Sterling family ancestral hall. The ancestors of the Sterling family are worshipped there. In simple terms, even after you die, you'll be buried in our family's ancestral grave. And your memorial tablet will be placed in there too!" Ethan replied.

Evelyn stood there, stunned.

"Wait, you can just introduce it directly. There's no need to explain it in such simple terms!"

After that, she bowed devoutly to the ancestral hall. She was innocent and ignorant of her mistake!

"Don't you think it's clearer when I explain it like this?"

Evelyn didn't want to talk to Ethan anymore. She wondered if his uncle, who looked like his nephew, had the same personality. If so, she was going to collapse.

Evelyn suddenly stopped. Ethan, who was walking behind, almost bumped into her. Fortunately, he stopped in time.

"Evelyn, just walk. Don't stop suddenly. If you were driving at high speed, it would easily cause a rear-end collision!" Ethan scolded.

"It's also because you didn't keep your distance. You have to keep your distance when driving on the highway. In case of an emergency, don't you understand?"

"Of course I understand. I have a driver's license!" Ethan said triumphantly.

"You bought it!"

"You bought it!"

"I really did buy it from your family!" Evelyn muttered for a long time.

Ethan frowned and realized he seemed to have said something he shouldn't have. Actually, he didn't mean it that way at all! This Evelyn was too sensitive, too fragile, too imaginative!

"Don't overthink it. I didn't mean that!"

"I know. I'm just telling the truth." Evelyn replied, then remembered what she wanted to ask Ethan. "Ethan, your uncle's personality isn't the same as yours, is it?"

"Auntie Evelyn, just call me Ethan. Don't add 'kid' to it. Although I'm a year or two younger than you, I'm still an adult. If you add that suffix, it seriously insults my intelligence!"

"And insults your intelligence! I don't know who's overthinking things!"

"Fine, fine. I'm overthinking things! My uncle's personality—"

"How is it?" Evelyn looked at Ethan curiously, waiting for him to continue.

"I'm not telling you!" Ethan said smugly, then walked past Evelyn.

Evelyn clicked her tongue in disdain. "Childish!"

Ethan almost tripped. He turned around and complained, "Evelyn, don't think that just because you're my elder, I won't scold you!"

"What did you call me?" Evelyn blinked and asked.

Ethan was at a loss for words. He said gloomily, "Forget it. Good men don't fight with women!"

"You're not a good man!" Evelyn shot back immediately.

"Why am I not a good man?" Ethan suddenly became angry.

"You're gay!" Evelyn said with a smile.

Ethan, who had been about to explode like a hydrogen balloon, suddenly deflated. "Evelyn, can you just forget about that?"

"Why should I forget? I'm curious! By the way, who's your boyfriend? Is he handsome? And are you the top or the bottom? When you go on dates, do two men hold hands or kiss? Is it strange? Or is it exciting?" Evelyn asked curiously.

Ethan was completely defeated. But the next second, he smiled and leaned close to Evelyn. Evelyn stepped back reflexively and stared at Ethan warily.

Ethan said with a smile, "If you're so curious, why don't you ask my uncle about it?"

Then he swaggered forward.

"Childish!" Evelyn complained.

"Evelyn, can you use a different word?" Ethan was speechless.

"Why should I change it? I think it's the most fitting description for you!"

"..." This was a blatant personal attack! He was going to ask his uncle for compensation for mental distress! By the way, his uncle would be back from his business trip next week. Ethan suddenly looked forward to it. What would the first formal meeting between Evelyn and his uncle be like? Just thinking about it made him smile.

Evelyn turned her head and saw the smile on Ethan's face. "What are you smiling at?"

"Nothing. Am I smiling?" Ethan restrained his smile and asked expressionlessly.

Evelyn looked at Ethan like he was a monster. "Did I just see crocodile tears?"

"..." Ethan didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"By the way, don't you have class today?"

"You don't have class today!"

"Oh, I forgot it was the weekend!" Evelyn suddenly remembered. She didn't have to go to school on weekends. So she was sent to the Sterling mansion by Mrs. Sterling?

Next, Ethan acted like a tour guide and began to introduce the architecture of his family one by one.

"Why is your family so big?" Evelyn asked in confusion. Although her family was big, it wasn't this big.

"It wasn't that big at the beginning. It was about three hundred square meters. But my grandfather liked to hoard land. If someone sold it, he would buy it. If someone sold it, he would buy it. Gradually, he bought all the land that his neighbors wanted to sell. Now, it's all connected into one piece. Houses were built on it. And it became this big." Ethan explained.

"From the outside, I wouldn't know your family was this big!"

"Because my family are all low-key people. They don't like to show off." Ethan said seriously.

Evelyn almost thought she had heard wrong. The first time she saw Ethan, she thought he was very flashy. And now Ethan said his family were all low-key people! Ha ha, what a cold joke!

"Such a large area of architecture is not low-key at all!" Evelyn complained.
