“Well!” Noah answered the call.
“Her husband loves her!” Charlotte added.
“Good!”
“So don’t dwell on the past!” Charlotte finally gathered the courage to say what she truly meant.
Noah turned to look at her, then smiled. “It’s precisely because I didn’t hold on tight enough that I lost her!”
Charlotte stared at Noah, as if she didn’t quite grasp his meaning for a moment.
“What’s lost is lost. Now I can only wish her well!” Noah continued.
“It’s okay. If you can’t be lovers, you can still be friends! Just like back in middle school, when we didn’t overthink things and just had fun!” Charlotte said with a grin, thumping Noah on the shoulder.
Noah laughed and said nothing more.
When he returned last year, he had once asked Evie if she could wait for him for six months.
Back then, he had already decided to come home for her.
Evie said she couldn’t. She already had a boyfriend.

After the rehearsal, Evie called Charlotte. “Where are you? My rehearsal is over!”
“Far away, yet close at hand!”
“Huh?” Evie answered blankly.
The next second, someone tapped her on the shoulder. She turned her head and saw Charlotte and Noah.
“Why are you two here?”
“We just saw your rehearsal. It was amazing!” Noah said.
“Really?” Evie asked, a little embarrassed.
“So you can sing this well. We had no idea!” Charlotte said, resting her chin on Evie’s shoulder with a smile.
“It’s just okay. After the performance tonight, I’ll be free.” Evie replied with a smile.
“With such a great opportunity, you should make good use of it. Maybe a talent scout will discover you, and then you’ll be on the path to stardom.” Charlotte continued.
“Forget it. Let’s find a place to grab a bite first!” Evie waved her hand and said with a smile.
Later, they went to the student street and ate hotpot.
Evie was afraid to eat spicy food because she had to sing at night, so she had to settle for a clear broth.
As they ate, they chatted about their old high school days, their laughter never ceasing.

But as they grew up, their troubles multiplied.
After finishing the hotpot, Evie was about to go get her makeup done and change clothes, waiting for the performance.
So she asked Charlotte and Noah, “Do you want to come to the show? If you do, I have three tickets here. I can give you two. But after you get in, you’ll have to wait until the performance is over to come out. I’m afraid you’ll get bored by then!”
“Give us the tickets first. We’ll decide after we look around!” Charlotte said.
“Okay, I’ll give you the tickets first!” Evie replied. She took two tickets out of her bag and handed them to Charlotte.
“You go get busy. We’ll head back later. We’ll find our own way back!” Charlotte said, taking the tickets.
“Alright, take care of yourselves. I’ll go prepare first!” Evie said. Then she nodded at Noah and walked toward the dormitory area.
She had to go back to her dorm to get her stage performance clothes, then go to the auditorium backstage to do her makeup, and then wait for her turn to perform.
Back in the dormitory, Emily and Stella were there.
“Evie, did you forget your phone again? We kept calling you, but no one answered!” Emily asked.
“Oh, I might have set it to vibrate. I didn’t hear it.” Evie said, taking her phone out of her bag. Sure enough, there were several missed calls.
Including one from Alexander.
Evie put down her bag and called Alexander back first. “I just had my phone on vibrate, so I didn’t hear you. Do you want to see me?”
“How was your day?” Alexander asked on the other end of the line.
“I’m very happy. The school is really busy. I saw a lot of celebrities. There are also many school celebration activities. I can participate and win souvenirs. Oh, by the way, Charlotte and Noah are here.” Evie replied with a smile.
“What time does the performance start?” Alexander asked.
“It officially starts at eight in the evening! I almost have to be ready!”

After finishing the call with Alexander, Evie went into the dormitory and busied herself with her performance clothes and makeup bag.
“Evie, do you have tickets for the performance?” Stella asked.
“I have three, but I gave two to my classmates. I only have one left!”
“How can Emily and I share that?” Stella asked, disappointed.
“Well, I’ll go backstage and ask for more. Maybe they have extras! Sorry, I forgot to save some for you.” Evie apologized.
“It’s okay. We didn’t tell you in advance.” Emily patted Evie on the shoulder and replied. “You need to go get ready!”
“Yeah, I have to do my makeup, fix my hair, and change clothes!” Evie said.
“Let’s go. I’ll go with you first. You can give Stella the ticket. It’ll be perfect for Stella to go when the performance is about to start.” Emily continued.
“Well, I haven’t showered yet!” Stella said.
Evie first gave Stella the remaining admission ticket, then cleaned up and headed to the auditorium.
Emily helped her carry things and went with her.
“I’m sorry, I forgot to save tickets for you two!” Evie said sheepishly.
“It’s nothing. Actually, we don’t really want to see it that much. It’s only because you’re performing that we want to watch. Otherwise, we wouldn’t go!” Emily comforted Evie with a smile.
Evie laughed too. “I won’t let you down then!”
“No, I heard my idol was invited to perform!” Emily replied expectantly.
“That’s the real reason you want to see it!” Evie said with a smile.
“I’ll watch your performance and see my idol on the side. There’s no conflict!” Emily laughed.
