Alexander Sterling returned to the hotel just before nine.
Earlier, he had called Evelyn and told her to order dinner first.
He came straight back after the reception.
Everyone knew Mrs. Sterling was also in town.
So she didn't go downstairs again.
After the reception, they parted ways.
Back in the suite, Alexander asked Evelyn, "Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet. I wanted to wait for you." Evelyn walked over to him.
"I'm sorry. There was a reception tonight. I couldn't get away until now. Give me a minute. I'll take a quick shower, and then we'll go out to eat."
"Can you still eat? Or should I call room service and have them bring something up?" Evelyn asked.
"It's fine. I didn't eat much. Let's go out." Alexander said as he headed into the bedroom.
Evelyn followed him inside to help pick out his clothes.
After he showered, they left the hotel.
The city's nightlife was just beginning.
The streets were still packed with cars.
The sidewalks were crowded with people shopping.
Evelyn took Alexander's hand. "I came on this business trip with you, but it feels like I'm just adding to your burden."
"Not at all. I'm happy to take you out." Alexander replied with a smile.
"You say you want to take me out to play, but you still have to worry about me. You can't even focus on your work."
"No, I'm just afraid of causing you any trouble. Don't forget, I'm your husband." Alexander explained.
Evelyn looked up at him and nodded. "I know."
Alexander then took her to a small restaurant.
He had heard about it specially.
He was told the place didn't look like much, but it was a famous snack spot with a hundred years of history.
The local branch manager had wanted to arrange a guide for them.
Alexander declined and just asked for the address.
He came here with Evelyn alone.
Evelyn was a little shy around strangers.
He was also worried that people from the company would find out she was his wife.
Considering her feelings, he tried to avoid situations that might make her uncomfortable.
Evelyn was really hungry.
Once the snacks were served, she lowered her head and ate attentively.
Alexander kept putting food in her bowl.
"Why aren't you eating?" Evelyn looked up at him.
"I am. I'm just eating slowly."
"Then I'll eat slowly too. Otherwise, I'll eat everything." Evelyn replied.
"It's fine. I've already eaten. I'm not hungry. You eat more." As he spoke, Alexander placed another small dish into her bowl.
Evelyn gave him a sweet smile, then lowered her head to continue eating.
A moment later, she muttered something.
Alexander didn't catch it. "What did you just say?"
"I said I'm really happy." Evelyn looked up at him and smiled.
Alexander looked at her quietly and laughed.
Evelyn blushed.
She had to lower her head again and focus on her food to hide her embarrassment.
After they were full, they started to wander around.
They wanted to feel the different atmosphere and scenery of this unfamiliar city.
Evelyn told Alexander that she had once wanted to apply to a university here.
But her family didn't agree to let her study abroad, so she had to give up.
That afternoon, Assistant Maya had taken her to see the university.
It was really beautiful.
It fulfilled a wish for her.
That afternoon, they had also gone to a local temple.
It was very popular, with a lot of incense burning.
People said it was very effective for praying for marriage.
Alexander had asked, "Do you want to get married again?"
"Of course not. Maya was praying for a marriage blessing. I was praying for something else." Evelyn explained.
"What did you pray for?"
"I'm not telling you." Evelyn thought that besides praying for a safety charm, she had also prayed for a fertility charm.
She was too embarrassed to tell Alexander.
"What's the secret? You're keeping secrets from me?" Alexander said with a smile.
"It's not a secret. I just... prayed for one more thing." Evelyn's last sentence was said in a low voice.
"What?" Alexander pretended not to hear and asked again.
"I prayed for a baby charm!" Evelyn said in a louder voice.
Alexander laughed.
Evelyn was so embarrassed.
She buried her face in his chest, not wanting to see anyone.
How humiliating!
"Let's work hard together. It will happen soon." Alexander hugged her and said with a smile.
"I'm not in a hurry." Evelyn's voice was muffled.
"You're not in a hurry, but I am. I'm getting old." Alexander continued.
"You talk as if you're ancient." Evelyn lifted her head and pouted.
"Am I eight years older than you?" Alexander asked.
"People who are decades older than you don't say anything!" Evelyn muttered.
Alexander laughed and walked forward with his arm around her.
"I want to have more children. Unless you can have more than one at a time, I'll be really old by the time we're done."
"More children? Do you think I'm a pig?" Evelyn looked at him in dismay.
"You're a beautiful, lovely pig."
"I don't want to have that many. Two at the most." Evelyn said stubbornly.
"Alright, it's up to you." Alexander didn't argue with her about it. He just wanted her to be happy.
Later, Evelyn felt like she had completely fallen into Alexander's trap.
There was no getting off.
They had agreed on two, but they couldn't stop.
Evelyn thought about the topic they had just been discussing and found it funny.
How did they end up talking about having a baby while they were out shopping?
Later, they went back to the hotel.
On the way, they bought some snacks.
After returning to the suite, Alexander called room service to send up a case of beer.
Then Evelyn and Alexander sat on the tatami mat in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.
They sipped their drinks and enjoyed the night view of the city.
"Alexander, you have to work overtime tomorrow. If we go to bed this late, will it affect your work tomorrow?" Evelyn suddenly remembered they were here on business, not just as tourists.
"No. We can be late tomorrow." Alexander answered calmly.
He put the empty beer can aside, took a new one, opened it, and handed it to Evelyn.
"I haven't even finished one bottle. I can't drink any more. If I drink more, I'll get drunk." Evelyn waved her hand.
"Drink slowly. Drink as much as you want." Alexander replied.
He opened a can for himself and continued drinking.
After a while, Alexander said, "It seems like you can handle liquor better than beer."
"It seems like I don't get drunk as easily on liquor."
"From now on, you should avoid beer." Alexander said with a smile.
"I'd better not drink at all. What if I accidentally get drunk?" Evelyn shook her head.
"When you're with me, you can have a couple of drinks. If you're not with me, don't drink." Alexander said.
Evelyn nodded.
The two of them continued to eat their snacks and drink their beer.
To be honest, this feeling wasn't something they had experienced before.
But it was a very comfortable thing.
