Chapter 224

The mirror showed her being sold by Alexander Sterling, counting the money like a fool.

But she never believed Alexander would sell her. Nobody wanted to buy her anyway.

When Evelyn got home from work, she was busy.

After checking the weather forecast for that city, she started packing for the three-day trip.

She had been to Misty Isle with Alexander before, so she had more experience preparing luggage this time.

It didn't take long for her to organize everything.

Alexander had a suitcase. She had a duffel bag.

Walking out of the bedroom, she said to Alexander, "I've packed three suits for you, one casual outfit, and some daily necessities. Do you need anything else?"

"Don't bring so much. Just one suit and two casual outfits," Alexander looked up and said.

"Is that enough?" Evelyn asked hesitantly.

"We're only going for three days. One suit is plenty," Alexander said with a smile.

"Alright, I'll rearrange it. Oh, and I'll bring two pairs of dark socks and a pair of sandals."

"Okay," Evelyn replied, turning back to the bedroom to continue packing.

Alexander specifically reminded her to bring dark socks because she had paired white socks with his morning suit earlier.

Evelyn hadn't studied dress etiquette in a long time, so she still made small mistakes like that. Reminding her helped her remember.

When Alexander returned to the bedroom, Evelyn asked him to check his luggage.

After glancing at it, Alexander picked up a bag and asked, "What's this?"

"Toiletry bag. I packed facial cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, a razor, and aftershave," Evelyn explained.

"Why would I need moisturizer and sunscreen?" Alexander gave a wry smile.

"Just because you're a man doesn't mean you don't need skincare. When you get older, you'll realize how important it is to protect your skin," she replied calmly.

"Whatever makes you happy," Alexander had to say.

He could handle basic facial cleaning and maintenance, but not as much as Evelyn had prepared for him.

Earlier, he noticed many bottles and jars on the shelf next to the sink but never saw Evelyn use them. So he asked, "What are those things on the shelf?"

"Skincare products I bought for you. Just wipe them on after washing your face," Evelyn said.

Alexander nodded but didn't take it seriously. He never used them.

He didn't expect Evelyn to pack them for this trip.

When they were ready to sleep, Evelyn couldn't fall asleep. Alexander hugged her shoulder and half-jokingly said, "You've prepared so many skincare products for your husband. Are you trying to turn me into a pretty boy?"

"Of course not. It would be hard for you to become a pretty boy anyway," Evelyn muttered.

"What do you mean?" Alexander asked with interest.

Hard for him to be a pretty boy?

"Well, you just don't look like one. Other pretty boys are very feminine. You're too... masculine," Evelyn thought for a moment and said.

Alexander looked down at Evelyn and smiled, thinking his little girl was too naive.

A pretty boy wasn't just about appearance.

"What do you think your husband looks like in your mind?" Alexander continued with a smile.

"I'm not telling you," Evelyn said stubbornly.

She didn't dare tell Alexander that she always thought he looked like a gorilla, just a better-looking one.

"Why won't you tell me? Is my image in your mind that bad?" Alexander asked.

"No," Evelyn quickly shook her head to deny it.

"Then what is it?"

"Can't people have a little secret?" Evelyn couldn't help protesting.

"Fine, I'll respect your little secret. Go to sleep. We have to get up early tomorrow," Alexander hugged Evelyn and said with a smile, not asking further.

But deep down, he was curious about how she saw him.

Actually, it was silly.

Evelyn nestled in Alexander's arms and soon fell asleep.

Alexander wasn't sleepy. Holding Evelyn felt like holding a soft, fragrant baby.

He couldn't help pulling her closer. Then he heard Evelyn mumble in protest.

He had obviously disturbed her sleep.

Alexander curled his lips, looked down at Evelyn in his arms, and his eyebrows softened.

He had found his treasure, and now someone was trying to take it from him.

Caleb Hayes was two years older than him. He spent most of his time abroad. After graduation, he worked for Starlight Holdings' overseas company. He only returned this year.

In the past, because of Caleb's aunt, they were quite familiar. Sometimes they made plans to play ball or go rock climbing together.

Later, after Caleb went abroad, their contact became less frequent. Instead, Alexander had more contact with Caleb's father, Julian Hayes, because of work.

At the beginning of the year, when Caleb returned home, he called Alexander once and asked him out for a drink. Alexander happened to be on a business trip. After that, they met a few times because of work.

He never expected Caleb to set his sights on his wife. If Caleb had any sense, they were too similar.

Alexander couldn't help but laugh or cry.

Early in the morning, the alarm went off, and Evelyn woke up.

Because she was going on a business trip with Alexander today, she couldn't stay in bed. Besides, she was always slower than Alexander and had more trivial things to do, so she naturally had to get up earlier than him.

Evelyn quickly grabbed her phone and turned off the alarm, afraid of disturbing Alexander.

She turned her head to look at him. He frowned.

Alexander was a light sleeper. He hated noise and got grumpy when woken up.

So she had to accommodate him.

After turning off the alarm, Evelyn was ready to get up.

One hand reached over and pulled her back down.

"Alexander, I need to get up," Evelyn whispered.

"Sleep with me a little longer," Alexander mumbled sleepily.

Evelyn wanted to say that what he called "a little while" usually took over an hour, and then she would be in a rush.

But obviously, what she said was useless. Alexander did whatever he wanted. He was always unreasonable, especially in bed.

Evelyn decided to go along with Alexander, thinking she would get up again when he fell asleep.

She didn't expect Alexander's hand to start wandering.

Evelyn quickly pressed his hand down and said, "Stop it, Alexander."

Alexander opened his eyes and looked at Evelyn.

Evelyn froze for a moment, meeting his gaze.

"I won't make noise. You sit up and move on your own," Alexander said at that moment.

"Huh?" Evelyn was stunned for a second. The next moment, she reacted. Her face turned red, and she reached out to slap Alexander's chest. "Pervert! I'm not talking to you. I'm getting up."

With that, Evelyn tried to get up.

Alexander turned her over and said, "Why are you getting up so early? You don't have to go to work today."

Then what did he want to do?
