This restaurant belongs to Gabriel Moreau. She had heard about it from Owen Clarke, but she had never been there before. For one thing, it only serves two tables a day, and reservations must be made well in advance. For another, she simply couldn't afford to eat there whenever she wanted. Today, thanks to Gabriel Fraser, she finally had the chance to come here.
Grace didn't recognize him at first, even though she had been a crazy fan of his back in college. Later, after she did recognize him, he told her with a smile that it was quite a coincidence—Alexander Sterling was here today with his wife. She smiled and nodded. Yes, a coincidence. But she was accompanying a client today, so it wasn't convenient for her to stay. She said she would come back later to say hello. Gabriel just laughed and said nothing.
Now, looking out the window, a familiar figure caught her eye. She saw him holding a girl's hand as they ran, and she could faintly hear their laughter. It felt like she had traveled back many years, to when she was a sophomore, not long after she had started dating Alexander. They had been walking home from school once when it began to drizzle. He had taken her hand, and they ran, laughing happily. They had been so young and willful back then. Now, the girl by his side was no longer her.
"Grace, what's wrong?" Gabriel Fraser looked at her with concern. "Nothing!" Grace snapped back to reality and replied with a faint smile.
Alexander followed Evelyn to an open space and then stopped. She was a little out of breath, but she had had a great time. "Alexander, I haven't run like this in a long time!" Evelyn said, panting. "It seems you need more exercise!" Alexander looked at her and said. "I rarely run, but I do exercise!" Evelyn explained. "What kind of exercise? Eating and sleeping in?" "No, I climb stairs, go shopping, take walks. Those are all exercise!" Evelyn said seriously. Alexander looked at her and laughed. Evelyn was a little annoyed and muttered, "Running isn't the only form of exercise, you know." "Evelyn, I said I would take you to work out together. I forgot when I got busy. Starting tomorrow, you'll exercise with me!" Alexander declared. "No need!" Evelyn hesitated. "You don't have enough stamina. If you don't exercise more, it'll be even worse when you get older!" "I'm only twenty-two this year!" Evelyn murmured. "Don't you want to go diving, swimming, and surfing with me in the future?" "Yes!" Evelyn nodded immediately. "Then start exercising from now on!" "..." Evelyn suddenly felt depressed and replied reluctantly, "Fine!"
They stood in the open space, looking at the city's night view. Evelyn felt that when she was with Alexander, she became romantic! She couldn't help but hold Alexander's hand, her heart full of sweetness. Alexander turned to look at her. Evelyn met his gaze and giggled. "You really are like a little fool!" Alexander commented with a smile. "You're the little fool! No, you're a big fool!" Evelyn giggled back. "When will we have a pair of little fools?" Alexander hugged her and asked. "No, we want a smart and lovely baby!" Evelyn retorted. She felt a bit of a taboo using such words for children. "Then we'll have Little Smart, Little Bright, Little Cute, Little Love—just to be smart and lovely!" Alexander said with a smile. "Have so many? Have them yourself!" Evelyn's face turned red, and she lowered her head to whisper. "Without you, could I have them?" Alexander said with a smile. "You... you're terrible!" Evelyn swallowed the word 'hooligan'. Alexander burst out laughing.
After enjoying the night view, they walked back to the parking lot and drove home. Alexander didn't drive fast. Soft music flowed through the car. Everything seemed beautiful and peaceful.
After returning home, Evelyn took a bath first. After her bath, she sat on the sofa in the bedroom, watching TV while waiting for her hair to dry. When Alexander went to take a bath, Evelyn heard his phone ring. She didn't get up to look at it. Instead, after Alexander came out of the bathroom, she said to him, "Alexander, your phone just rang!" Alexander walked to the bedside table, picked up his phone, and saw an unread text message. He opened the message. It was just a blank message. He blocked the number and then put the phone down, continuing to dry his hair. Evelyn came over and casually took the towel from his hand. She asked him to sit on the sofa and helped him dry his hair. What she couldn't stand was how roughly he always treated his hair, rubbing it very hard. She had told him more than once that it damaged his hair, but he couldn't change his habit. Evelyn pressed the towel to absorb the water droplets from his hair, then went to get the hairdryer to blow-dry his hair. Anyway, his hair was short, so it would be done quickly. Alexander pulled Evelyn to sit down, lifted her hair, and said, "Evelyn, sometimes you act like an old woman!" Instead of protesting as usual, Evelyn sighed and said with a deep expression, "Who told me I have a baby who can't take care of himself?" Alexander was stunned for a moment, then immediately laughed. He picked Evelyn up and sat her on his lap. "So you're being naughty!" Evelyn stuck out her tongue and laughed. "Alright, ma'am, can we go to bed now?" "Not yet, my hair isn't dry!" "Then you go to bed first. I'll sleep when my hair is dry!" Alexander said with a smile. "Wait, I'll make you a cup of milk!" "I don't really want to drink it!" Alexander said. "You should have some. Your stomach has been bad lately!" Evelyn finished, put away the hairdryer, and walked toward the door. "Evelyn, I used to think I was very healthy. Since I married you, I've found that I'm sick all over!" Alexander turned his head and said with a smile. "Nonsense. It's not like you can't take care of yourself. It's all your fault!" Evelyn said. Alexander had an innocent expression. Evelyn smiled and went downstairs to make milk for him.
Evelyn got a call from Charlotte at the end of April. It had been half a year since she last saw her. That day, Evelyn went to deliver some materials. As soon as she came out of a company and entered the elevator, her phone rang. Seeing the call from Charlotte, Evelyn quickly picked up. "Charlie—" "Honey, do you know where I am?" Charlotte said excitedly. "Don't tell me you're back!" "Not yet, but I'm already at the airport!" Charlotte laughed on the other end of the phone. "Great, I miss you too!" "Just remember to meet me at the airport at ten tomorrow morning!" "No way, I have to go to work tomorrow! Can you come directly to the company, and we can have lunch together?" "Darling, a day apart feels like three years. Think about how many days and nights we haven't seen each other. Can't you bear to take half a day off?" Charlotte said, pretending to be angry.
