Chapter 181

"I've fried a few dishes, but I still need to make the soup," Isabella murmured to herself, turning to check the dishes she had already cooked.

Bella walked in, took the plate from Evie's hands, and said, "I've fried five dishes now. Three meat, two vegetables. We're just missing the soup!"

"I'll make the soup. Let's cook fish head soup for dinner!" Evie said softly.

"Great!" Alexander said, scrubbing the pot clean before handing the spatula to his sister-in-law.

He couldn't cook fish head soup. He didn't want to stand in front of the stove either.

But he loved fish soup. He could learn from his sister-in-law.

"To cook fish soup, you have to wait for the water to boil before adding the fish head. That way, it won't taste fishy, and the soup will be fresh!" Isabella explained while cooking, teaching Alexander at the same time.

Alexander studied hard, afraid he might forget. He pulled out his phone and typed a memo.

"Ah Mo is lucky to have married you!"

"I'm the lucky one!" Evie replied with a smile.

"It's best that you two appreciate each other!" Isabella said with a smile.

Evie nodded, smiling.

Sometimes her sister-in-law's mind wasn't very clear. But other times, she showed wisdom that many normal people couldn't match.

If not for that accident, she would have been an extraordinary woman.

Truly, talent was something to envy.

Evie sighed with regret.

"Evie, how is it?" Isabella asked softly.

"Huh?" Evie turned to look at her sister-in-law and answered awkwardly, "It's fine, it's fine!"

"The fish head soup is done. You can taste it for saltiness!" Isabella didn't press further. She just spoke gently.

"Okay!" Evie replied.

She scooped a small spoonful of fish soup, blew on it, and took a tiny sip. It was fresh and fragrant!

"Delicious!" Evie said with a smile.

"Glad you like it. Is the saltiness just right?"

"It's a little light. But don't you prefer lighter fish soup?"

"Yes. It won't overpower the flavor. That's perfect!" Isabella nodded.

Evie thought her sister-in-law knew everything. She was so talented!

The dishes were ready. Evie washed her hands, left the kitchen, and called Alexander to dinner.

Alexander was on the phone. He gave her a signal, spoke a few more words, and hung up.

"How did it go?" Alexander put away his phone, walked over, and asked with a smile.

"A great teacher produces great students!" Evie said with a smile.

"You're getting better at talking!" Alexander smiled and touched her head.

"Alexander, stop touching my head all the time!" Evie couldn't help protesting.

"I'm afraid I'll ruin your hairstyle!" Alexander said with a smile.

"No, I'm not a child. You always touch my head!" Evie muttered.

"Alright, I won't touch it anymore!" Alexander said this, then touched Evie's head again.

Evie rolled her eyes.

They walked into the dining room. Alexander went to wash his hands.

When he came out, Evie had already set his meal for him.

"It looks delicious!" Alexander took his seat and looked around at the dishes on the table.

"Evie helped!" Isabella answered with a smile.

"Actually, I didn't do much. I just stole a lot of lessons. My sister-in-law cooked everything!" Evie said.

"You can't cook such delicious food yet!" Alexander teased Evie, then turned to his sister-in-law and said, "Thank you, sister-in-law!"

Evie reached out and patted Alexander, saying with a smile, "Do you even need to say that?"

Isabella watched their natural and warm interaction. Her heart felt warm.

Throughout dinner, she kept urging them to eat more.

"Sister-in-law, we won't be polite. You should eat more too!" Evie helped her sister-in-law pick up a piece of fish.

"Okay!" Isabella nodded with a smile and continued eating.

The meal was slower than usual at Sterling Manor. The atmosphere was very lively.

After dinner, Evie and Alexander sat in the living room with their sister-in-law for over half an hour before leaving.

On the way back, Evie took Alexander's hand and asked, "Alexander, does Ethan not eat at home often? My sister-in-law must be so lonely by herself!"

"Ethan usually eats at home when he has nothing to do. He cooks. Just when we arrived, he had gone out."

"Oh, I thought Ethan didn't eat at home normally!" Evie nodded.

"Even though Ethan seems idle, he's actually a very filial child. To help his mother take her mind off things and reduce her longing for my brother, he deliberately finds things for her to do. For example, when he comes home for dinner, his mother has to cook. Or he asks her to knit him sweaters. All the sweaters he wears are knitted by his mother." Alexander explained.

"Oh! Then I misunderstood him!" Evie said.

She felt that sometimes she couldn't judge people by their appearance. She couldn't make conclusions without truly understanding someone.

"Sister-in-law is fine now. Even though she lives in her own world, at least she has something to hold onto." Alexander looked into the distance and spoke slowly.

Although Evie didn't fully understand Alexander's words at that moment, she still felt he was right.

Weekends always flew by.

It felt like a blink of an eye, and the weekend was over.

Evie went to work as usual.

Recently, Amy Harper's health hadn't been very good. She had been giving Evie more tasks than usual.

After Evie sat down at her desk, she started working on the tasks Amy had assigned.

At ten o'clock, after Amy answered a phone call, she asked Evie to go to the planning department manager's office to help.

Evie agreed. She cleaned up her desk, grabbed her phone, and headed to the planning department office.

She was still wondering who the planning department manager was.

When she arrived at the planning department manager's office, she knocked on the door. When she saw the person sitting inside, Evie's eyes widened. She thought she was mistaken.

"Are you the planning department manager?"

"Isn't that right?" Ethan asked with a smile, supporting his chin as he looked at Evie.

"What do you want me to do?" Evie walked into the office and asked angrily.

Sigh. She didn't know if she was born to clash with Ethan. She could never stay calm when she saw him.

"I'm the manager!" Ethan emphasized with a smile.

"So what! I'm still your aunt!"

"I'm in the company now!"

"Fine, Manager Ethan. What can I do for you?" Evie stared at Ethan and asked.

Ethan smiled. He pointed to a box and said, "Help me organize this!"

"Can't you organize it yourself?"

"I'm very busy. I don't have time!"

"Ask your assistant to do it!"

"The assistant just resigned. I'm alone now!"

"My character is too bad. No wonder all the assistants ran away!" Evie muttered as she walked over to open the box. When she saw what was inside, she blinked to make sure she was seeing correctly.

It was a big box full of dolls!

"What do you need so many dolls for?"
