"You can't set aside a whole month. There will always be two or three days!" Alexander Sterling glanced at her and said.

Evelyn Vance nodded with a smile, excited as if she could start tomorrow.

"Evie—" Evelyn wanted to continue speaking, but Alexander interrupted her.

"Playing all day? Aren't you tired?" Alexander asked softly.

"No!" Evelyn smiled and shook her head.

It was just playing and chatting. It wasn't physical labor.

He stopped at the traffic light. Alexander turned his head and quietly looked at Evelyn. His eyebrows softened, and his hand gently stroked her hair.

Evelyn felt a little embarrassed and pulled his hand down.

"Tired? Sleep for a while!" Alexander said.

"Not tired!" Evelyn answered, thinking he hadn't heard her just now.

But then she remembered the last time she said she wasn't sleepy. She had fallen asleep in his arms soon after.

This time, she didn't dare to be so certain. She looked at Alexander with a smile.

Alexander didn't say anything more. After the light turned green, he continued driving.

Evelyn turned to look out the window, watching the scenery of the street constantly retreating.

Time really flew by, just like these scenes, always slipping away without notice.

She was a year older now. And married.

Later, Alexander answered a call from Owen Clarke. He hung up after just a few words.

The atmosphere in the car seemed to grow heavier.

Evelyn wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but Alexander seemed very angry.

"What happened?" Evelyn looked at him uneasily and asked.

"Nothing!" Alexander looked at her and said. "Owen is drunk!"

"Do you want to check on him? Has he gone home?" Evelyn asked.

"He'll go back on his own!" Alexander replied without expression.

"No, he's drunk. It's dangerous to drive! He's almost home. I'll walk back. Go and see!" Evelyn said uneasily.

"Someone will take care of him."

"Oh!" Evelyn answered softly and said nothing more.

His phone kept ringing. Alexander turned it off directly.

Evelyn still wanted to say something, but seeing Alexander's tight lips, she stopped.

When they got home, the car had just stopped when Evelyn's phone rang.

She took her phone out of her bag. Seeing it was Owen calling, she froze. Then she turned to Alexander and said, "Owen is calling. He probably can't reach you, so he's calling me—"

Before Evelyn could finish, Alexander hugged her and kissed her lips.

Evelyn's eyes widened suddenly, as if she was frightened, as if she couldn't react for a moment.

She heard a click. Alexander had already unbuckled her seatbelt. He directly pulled her onto the driver's seat, onto his lap.

There was no pause during this process.

Evelyn's mind suddenly became chaotic. She lost the ability to think. She was at Alexander's mercy.

Her phone was still in the middle of a call. Finally, two minutes later, the other party hung up.

Alexander loosened his lips and quietly gazed at her.

Evelyn's eyes were blurred. She looked at Alexander blankly, as if she still hadn't reacted.

"Fool!" Alexander couldn't help sighing and pinched her nose.

"I'm not a fool!" Evelyn suddenly came back to her senses and explained.

Alexander smiled and said, "You react pretty fast!"

"If you scold me, of course I'll react fast. Otherwise, I'll be scolded for nothing!" Evelyn said.

The next second, she realized the ambiguous and intimate position they were in.

She suddenly felt a little uncomfortable. She twisted her body, wanting to return to the passenger seat.

Alexander hugged her and kissed her shoulder.

"Alexander... This is the car!" Evelyn blushed and reminded.

"Is there a problem?" he asked calmly.

Evelyn's face turned even redder.

How could she answer that question?

Unable to answer for a moment, Evelyn had to let Alexander carry her away.

From the garage to Sterling Manor, Evelyn's face was buried in Alexander's arms the whole time. She let him carry her back inside.

Her face was still burning like fire.

She couldn't believe she had done something so wild with Alexander in the car.

Well, luckily, no one was in the garage. Otherwise, she would never be able to show her face again.

"It's all your fault!" Evelyn couldn't help blaming him, her voice muffled from his arms.

"What's my fault?" Alexander looked down at her, deliberately teasing her, and asked with a smile.

"What if someone saw us!" Evelyn blushed and whispered.

"Others will know to pretend they didn't see anything!"

"... " Evelyn had nothing left to say.

For a man with skin thicker than a city wall, there was nothing he wouldn't do.

Back in Sterling Manor, Evelyn went to take a bath first.

Alexander stood by the window smoking, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.

How could he not know who was on the other end of the phone? Besides Owen, it was Grace O'Sullivan.

But some things had passed. No one could return to the past, let alone go back.

In the elegant private room of the club, with its small bridge and flowing water, Owen was drunk and talking more than usual. He was usually a noisy guy, and now he had become a summer cicada.

Although Grace had drunk a lot, there was no trace of drunkenness on her face. She was still calm and elegant, as if she hadn't touched a drop of wine.

"Grace, Alexander... he's married. He married Evie. He forgot about you after all!" Owen murmured in a daze.

Playing with her wine glass, Grace answered faintly, "He already forgot a long time ago!"

"If he had forgotten, he wouldn't have been single for so many years. But if he didn't forget, why did he marry someone else?" Owen was so drunk he didn't know what he was saying.

"He's married. Shouldn't you be happy for him? You sound like you're heartbroken!" Grace asked with a faint smile.

"I feel sorry for you. You've been waiting for him for so many years!" Owen looked up at Grace.

"I wasn't waiting for him!"

"You can lie to others, but you can't lie to me! But it's meaningless for you to wait now. He already belongs to someone else!"

"I know. After we broke up, he was no longer mine."

"Why did you break up back then?" Owen asked the same question.

"We fell out of love. So we broke up!" Grace's tone was still understated.

"Fell out of love? You don't love him, or he doesn't love you? Grace, do you know what I hate most about you? It's that you never want to say anything. You carry everything on your own. And then you have to pretend you're free and easy, like you've seen through the world and don't care about anything. Who are you doing this for? Showing it to me? I feel sorry for you, but you don't like me. Showing it to Alexander? He's really gone. You're the only one left. What's the point of doing this?" Owen stared at Grace, his expression like he was interrogating a prisoner.
