Finally, they sat down on a park bench to rest.
Evie swung her legs back and forth. She placed her hands on the back of the bench and looked up at the stars. The sky wasn't as bright as before, but many stars were still visible.
"Alexander, when you're in a bad mood, just remember that things will pass anyway. Don't overthink it. Your mood will get better gradually." Evie murmured.
"I'm not in a bad mood!" Alexander said the same thing.
Evie turned her head to look at him. She saw his profile. He looked handsome, with beautiful lines. She got a little lost staring at him.
Alexander noticed she was quiet. When he turned his head to look at her, their eyes met. He saw Evie's expression. She was staring at him like he was a delicious meal.
Alexander frowned.
"Don't frown. It makes you look older." Evie blurted out without thinking.
"Is it polite for you to stare at a man like that?" Alexander replied.
"I'm not staring. I'm just studying you!" Evie came back to her senses and tried to explain.
"What are you studying?" Alexander smiled.
"Have you noticed that you're the most special one in your family? You don't look like your second or third sister. You look the most like Ethan!" Evie answered with a smile.
"You're not the first person to say that. Alright, stop studying what you shouldn't be. Let's go back!" Alexander finished speaking and stood up. He pulled Evie to her feet.
"Okay!" Evie nodded.
Going back was better. It was more comfortable with the heating. The air outside was nice and the scenery was good, but it was very cold!
Evie thought about this and couldn't help shrinking again.
They walked back along the same path. Alexander held Evie's hand. Neither of them spoke.
Not long after they got in the car, Evie received a call from her sister, Victoria. Victoria asked if she was getting used to taking care of the family today.
Evie replied that it was very good.
Then Victoria asked how she felt.
Evie asked in confusion, what feeling?
Victoria directly scolded Evie for having a pig brain. Was it the first page of the course? Did it hurt? How was her brother-in-law's technique? She gossiped on and on.
Evie's face turned bright red. She leaned against the window, afraid Alexander would hear the voice from the phone.
"Sister, the weather is beautiful today. There are so many stars!"
"What am I telling you? What are you telling me?" Victoria was speechless for a second, then asked, "You haven't done it yet, have you?"
Evie replied in a low voice, embarrassed, "It's so cold today!"
"Talk to me properly!" Victoria suddenly got angry.
"No!" Evie had to answer the question truthfully.
Last night, she thought something would happen. But in the end, nothing happened. She was scared all night.
"No? He's not interested in you!"
"...No." Evie's voice got even lower.
"What did you say? I can't hear you."
"I said no!" Evie raised her voice to answer. She secretly glanced at Alexander. Her ears were completely red.
"Alright, it's not clear on the phone. Let's wait until you come back. I'll buy some interesting underwear for you tomorrow. I'll give it to you when you get back!"
"No, sister!" Evie answered in panic.
"This is the happiness of your life. If you weren't my sister, I wouldn't care about you. There's nothing else. I told Mom you're fine."
"Oh, okay!" Evie responded.
After hanging up, Evie put away her phone. She didn't have the courage to turn around and look at Alexander.
But Alexander spoke first, "Your sister's call?"
"Yes. This is my first time getting married. They're a little worried." Evie answered with a guilty heart.
"Do you want a second time?" Alexander asked.
"Ah? No! I mean, my sister cares about me. She's worried I won't do well." Evie immediately replied awkwardly.
Alexander didn't say anything more. Evie stayed silent.
After returning to Sterling Manor, they went straight back to their room.
Evie took a bath first. After bathing, she wore conservative pajamas and sat on the sofa in a daze.
Before, in the apartment, she and Alexander had slept together so many times. She had gotten used to it and didn't feel any special discomfort.
But after the wedding, she moved into Sterling Manor. Evie felt a little uneasy.
In addition, her sister Victoria's call in the evening made Evie even more nervous.
After Alexander took a bath, he came out. He saw Evie wrapped herself up like a bug and fell asleep. He didn't go over to correct her sleeping posture. He just let her be. Instead, he turned off the light and left only a dim yellow floor lamp. It made the bedroom warm and soft.
Alexander walked out of the bedroom. He went to the living room on the second floor to smoke, waiting for his hair to dry.
Evie was still nervous. She was wrapped in the quilt, trying to sleep. In the end, she realized she was completely unnecessary. Alexander wasn't interested in her at all.
However, his action of turning off the light just now made her feel intimate.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, she felt someone lie down beside her. A cold attack made Evie shrink for a moment. Then she was pulled into Alexander's arms.
Evie mumbled and continued sleeping.
A big cold hand hugged her.
Evie suddenly woke up. She opened her eyes and saw Alexander's outline in the dark. She gradually realized something. Her face suddenly turned red. Her neck turned red too. She turned her face to the side. She didn't have the courage to look at Alexander.
Alexander didn't plan to say anything. He lowered his head and kissed her white neck.
That evening wasn't good for Evie. Even though Alexander tried to cooperate and accommodate her. She didn't feel any pleasure. Only after it was all over did she feel a sense of stability.
In the morning, Evie overslept. By the time she woke up, it was almost ten o'clock. She wanted to stay in bed for a while. Suddenly, what happened last night, like a movie scene, printed itself into her mind. Evie's eyes snapped open.
Her face burned. She wanted to comfort herself that it was just a dream. That was unrealistic. Her whole body ached a little. It wasn't particularly serious, but it was a clear feeling.
She and Alexander had become a real couple.
