Chapter 10

"It's better to stay quiet and play it smart." Victoria agreed.

At a critical moment, the eldest daughter has to step up!

"Evelyn, what do you think?" William looked at his youngest daughter, seeking her opinion.

He didn't want to decide everything for her without considering her feelings.

"Just do what my sister says!

Let's see first. Maybe things will get better!" Evelyn replied optimistically.

So, William soon arranged a meeting for his youngest daughter.

The coffee shop was on the ground floor of a hotel. The atmosphere was elegant.

Evelyn arrived half an hour early. It was basic courtesy.

Tonight, Evelyn wore her school uniform. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail.

She looked like a high school student.

She had just finished PE class and rushed to the appointment. She didn't have time to go back to the dorm to change.

"Evelyn?"

"Hello." Evelyn looked up and froze.

Was this the man she was supposed to marry?

She was almost blinded.

The guy in front of her had dyed his hair in all sorts of colors. He looked like a parrot!

His clothes were full of holes. Even a homeless person would be dressed better than him.

Was this what she was getting?

"Hello." Ethan Sterling sat down across from Evelyn. He looked at her and asked, "How old are you?"

"Twenty-one." Evelyn snapped back to reality and answered.

"Twenty-one? I don't think you're even an adult yet." Ethan looked her up and down again.

"You're the one who's underage!" Evelyn shot back.

The guy in front of her looked younger than her. And he dared to say she was underage!

"I'm barely an adult. But it doesn't matter whether I'm an adult or not.

Anyway, I'm not the one you're supposed to marry!" Ethan smiled.

Evelyn didn't understand what he meant. She stared at him blankly.

"I'm here on behalf of my uncle. He should be on the plane by now.

But since he had an appointment with you, he couldn't just stand you up. So he asked me to come and chat with you!" Ethan explained.

"Oh." Evelyn answered after a long pause.

How rude, she thought!

If he couldn't come, why did he agree to meet in the first place!

And he sent this parrot—no, this guy who dyed his hair like a parrot.

"I don't think you look like a girl who can't find a husband. Why do you have to choose an arranged marriage? Is it for my family's money?" Ethan asked curiously.

"It really is for your family's money!" Evelyn nodded frankly.

Who would choose to marry a stranger if it wasn't for money!

Ethan was stunned for a moment. He was confused by her direct answer.

Then he couldn't help laughing the next second.

"Then you really picked the right person. My uncle is short of everything, but he's never short of money!"

"That... Since your uncle is so rich, why does he have to get married this way?" Evelyn asked in a low voice.

"Has no one ever told you that my uncle is old, ugly, short, and also gay?

If it weren't for my grandmother's hope that the family would have a daughter-in-law, she wouldn't force him to get married!" Ethan sighed.

"Aren't you the heir of the family?" Evelyn was even more confused.

"Because I'm gay too!" Ethan replied proudly.
