Liam Williams watched as Emma Johnson quickly changed her tune under the old man's lecture. A smug satisfaction settled in his chest, and he ate more than he should have without even realizing it.
He held his stomach, nearly bursting from the meal, and cast a smug glance at Emma's pale, frustrated face.
Henry Williams noticed that Emma had finally stopped causing trouble. He didn't press her further. "From now on, it's better if you arrange snacks for your own people yourself."
"I understand, Dad. You should get some rest." Emma watched him climb the stairs and responded calmly from behind.
Liam appeared beside her without warning, leaning in close. He bent over, lowering his head like a scheming villain, and whispered in her ear, "Great performance tonight, wife..." He deliberately raised his injured right hand and gave her an exaggerated thumbs-up before heading upstairs with a smirk.
Emma was furious. There were only three men in the Williams family, but how could they all be so impossible to deal with?
All day long, Liam forced her into corners with his threats. Every time she saw Benjamin, he'd mock her. And now even Henry had started using that commanding tone, ordering her to treat Liam well.
Emma ran her hand through her hair, smoothing it back, then slowly made her way to the third floor.
As she reached the stairway, she saw Benjamin coming up from the second floor. "Oh, dear, sister-in-law, you look a bit off." He tilted his head and leaned closer to her face. "Your eyes look red. Have you been crying?"
"Did my brother really bully you? I'll go talk to him right now. Doesn't he know how to be gentle? Or... do you need a shoulder to lean on, sister-in-law?" He punched his own shoulder with his fist.
Emma raised her hand and pushed Benjamin away. "Do you remember I'm your sister-in-law? Stay away from me..."
She didn't know who he was looking for, but Benjamin was always in such a bad mood. One day, she'd have to teach this little brother-in-law a lesson.
Emma ignored him completely and walked straight back to her room.
When she entered the bathroom, she saw the maid, Charlotte, pouring hot water into the bathtub. A glass basin beside it was filled with pure milk.
The scent of milk hit her the moment she stepped through the door.
Emma's eyes went wide. Last night it was a rose bath. Tonight, a milk bath?
All her bad mood vanished instantly. "Charlotte, you're so thoughtful. How did you know I love milk baths the most?" Emma couldn't help praising the clever girl.
"Madam, the young master specially prepared this for you just now. Do you like it? It seems he really cares about you." Charlotte smiled and spilled the truth all at once.
Emma was speechless.
Would he really be that kind?
Forget it. She'd pretend she didn't hear that. Taking a bath was more important.
"Well, I understand. Charlotte, you can go now. Rest if you have nothing else to do." Emma said as she began unbuttoning her clothes.
"Oh, let me pour all the milk into the tub first." Charlotte emptied the basin into the bathtub and was about to leave when Emma called out, "Where's the young master?"
"In the study. He said he needed to discuss something with the second young master." Charlotte replied clearly.
Good. She could finally take a bath without worrying.
"Alright, you can go." Emma waved her hand, stripped off completely, and sank her entire body into the thick, fragrant milk.
This was the life.
Emma even played some soft music. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the peaceful moment, feeling utterly content.
The Williams' luxury villa had four floors. The house alone covered over six hundred square meters.
The first floor had a spacious living room, with the kitchen and dining area next to it. The remaining rooms belonged to the servants.
The second floor was divided into two sections. Half was Henry's bedroom and study. The other half was Benjamin's gym and bedroom.
There were three rooms on the third floor. In the middle was Liam's study. On the right was his and Emma's bedroom. The room on the left was empty.
Every time Emma saw that empty room, she felt a little curious. She wanted to ask about it, but she never thought it was necessary. After all, the Williams family had so many rooms. Having one or two empty ones seemed normal.
In the study.
Benjamin sat with his legs crossed, looking at Liam. "Brother, did you bully my sister-in-law? I saw her eyes were red just now..."
When Liam heard the words "sister-in-law" coming out of his brother's mouth, he felt like Benjamin cared more about Emma than he did. It annoyed him. "I bullied her? If I told you she was scared to tears by a mouse, would you believe me?"
"Pfft..." Benjamin couldn't hold it in. What? She looked so fierce, but she was afraid of mice?
"I don't buy it. My sister-in-law is way too tough for that. It's more believable that the mouse would be scared to tears by her..." Liam looked up at him, his expression darkening. He didn't care about anything else, but Benjamin seemed way too concerned about his sister-in-law.
Liam pulled a stack of documents from his desk and dropped them into Benjamin's hands. The pile was at least three feet high. "Didn't you say last time you wanted to work at Las Vegas Entertainment City? These are the details from the past two years. Once you finish reading them, you can take up the position directly."
Benjamin glanced at the massive stack of A4 paper and immediately wilted. "Brother, are you trying to kill me? There's so much here. Even if I went blind, I wouldn't finish it all."
"Why can't you finish it? You spend all your time chasing girls, hanging out with celebrities, and sleeping with models. If you put that time into this, you'd be done in less than two days." To be honest, Liam knew his younger brother spent twenty-four hours a day, twenty-eight if you counted overtime, with all kinds of beautiful women. How could he not have time?
Actually, Benjamin hadn't always been like this. He had become so indulgent and reckless after someone disappeared. It was his way of drowning his sorrows.
Liam naturally knew the reason, so he didn't care much about how much trouble Benjamin caused or how wild he had been in recent years.
Maybe when you're depressed for too long, you go a little crazy.
How painful was it to love someone with all your heart, only to have them ripped away from you?
Liam didn't know. He had never fallen in love with any woman. He had never felt his heart torn apart.
Benjamin was the one who had been less disciplined, less guided. But she... she was far away in another country.
With that, Liam picked up his water glass, took a sip of hot water, unbuttoned his coat, and walked over to pat Benjamin on the shoulder. "Come on, brother. I'll be waiting for your good news."
