The next morning arrived far too quickly.
Emma Johnson stretched lazily in bed. The mattress was so incredibly soft that she had zero desire to leave its warmth.
She glanced to the side. Liam Williams had already disappeared from sight.
Up this early? He didn't even wake me!
Oh no, this is the first day, and I'm already late!
The image of Henry Williams' stern face flashed through her mind. Emma shot upright and dashed to the bathroom to freshen up.
The moment she stepped inside, something felt... off.
She frowned, trying to pinpoint what was wrong with the room.
Still unable to figure it out, Emma grabbed her toothbrush carelessly, squeezed some paste onto it, and stuck it in her mouth. Suddenly, a memory hit her—when I walked in just now, didn't the room seem smaller?
She took two steps back to the bathroom doorway, then turned around. That's when she spotted it—a second wardrobe standing right next to Liam's.
Emma's eyes went wide. She tiptoed over to the unfamiliar closet and pulled open the doors.
It was packed full of gorgeous clothes!
The bottom shelf held shoes—dozens of high-end pairs. Stilettos, pumps, sneakers, flats... every single one was her size!
And they were all designer brands she couldn't even name. Emma stood frozen for several seconds, stunned by the sheer value of each outfit.
An indescribable feeling washed over her—surprise mixed with joy?
Lost in thought, she accidentally swallowed her mouthwash!
Oh, crap!
Wait... is Liam's mouthwash this good? Pineapple?
Emma rubbed her eyes and pinched her arm to make sure she wasn't dreaming. She swallowed again. It really was pineapple.
She brushed her teeth as fast as she could, then pulled on a lake-green long-sleeved dress. She slipped into a pair of ten-centimeter white heels, let her hair fall loosely down her back, swiped some lipstick across her lips, and headed downstairs.
When she finally reached the kitchen, she found only a few servants bustling about. No one else was there.
Emma's heart sank. This is bad. Really bad.
Did they already eat breakfast and leave for work?
That jerk Liam! He made me look foolish on such an important day!
Cursing the ungrateful villain under her breath, she lowered her head and turned to go back upstairs for her bag. But she ran straight into Benjamin Williams.
"Ah! Benjamin? Don't you watch where you're going?" Already frustrated, Emma vented all her grievances on him.
"Sister-in-law, can we be reasonable here? You ran into me." Benjamin pointed at his chest, amused. Was she seriously trying to flip this around?
But he had to admit—she looked different today than yesterday.
Maybe it was the new dress and the light makeup, but she seemed to glow.
Emma pressed a hand to her forehead and glared at him. "Don't you have work to do? Why are you up so early? You're in the way!"
"I wouldn't be if a beautiful woman wanted to sleep in with me. Who'd get up early then? The problem is, there's no such woman. But I wonder—how did my big brother manage to get up so early with you around?" He crossed his arms and stroked his chin thoughtfully, his words dripping with innuendo.
"Come on, I'm your sister-in-law. If you dare talk to me like that, I'll tell your brother and let him deal with you." Emma wasn't afraid of him. Who did he think he could bully in this house?
In terms of age, she was two years older than him.
In terms of status, she was his elder!
Benjamin trying to take advantage of her? That was a joke.
Reminded of her position, Benjamin couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, alright, you're my sister-in-law. I'm scared of you."
He sat down at the table. "Butler, what about breakfast? I'm starving. Can we stop waiting for Dad and my big brother?"
Wait... what?
Emma's ears perked up. She couldn't help but feel contempt for this smooth-talking kid.
Hold on...
What did he just say?
His father and big brother hadn't eaten breakfast yet? Then where was that man?
Emma scanned the living room. Still no one. She poked Benjamin's back with her finger. "Where's your brother?"
"Where else? He's doing morning exercises with Dad in the garden. Oh? You want to go too? I'll tell you—" Before Benjamin could finish, Emma's figure had already disappeared from the kitchen.
Benjamin shook his head speechlessly. What was that about? He wasn't even done talking!
He sighed and picked up his millet porridge to drink.
When Emma heard that they were in the garden, her mood lifted. At least Liam hadn't left her alone at home.
As she appeared at the doorway in her lake-green dress, she spotted Liam practicing Tai Chi with his father.
A smile immediately spread across her face.
Liam turned around and saw her standing there.
He unconsciously stopped his movements, staring at Emma dumbfounded. That dress perfectly accentuated her beautiful figure.
And was she smiling at him right now?
Liam looked at Emma from a distance with satisfaction. An inexplicable joy rose in his heart.
It seemed his taste was really good. That dress was made for her.
He waved for her to come over.
Emma nodded, lifted her skirt slightly, and walked over to them. She greeted Henry Williams with a smile. "Good morning, Dad."
Henry glanced at Liam and snorted. "Hmph."
This boy—can't he focus on his morning exercise as soon as his wife appears?
Standing there like an idiot!
Liam wasn't happy to see her up so early. His face clearly read, "Why are you up so early?"
Emma walked up to him, raised her face, and said happily, "Why didn't you wake me up? I thought you didn't care about me."
"I wanted to, but you're my wife now. If I don't care, who will?" He pinched her nose affectionately. "Come on, let's get you something to eat."
"Okay." The mention of food made her nod eagerly. She was already starving. Last night, she'd been too nervous to eat much.
Now she had to make up for it.
Emma reached out and held Liam's hand tightly. Then she remembered the surprise from this morning and couldn't help saying, "Liam, thank you for doing all this for me. I really like it."
"I didn't do anything. I just bought you a wardrobe."
"And the clothes inside. I like them too..."
"They came with it..."
"So good—a wardrobe that comes with free clothes?"
Liam was speechless.
Was he supposed to admit it?
He had chosen everything specially. This man was so contradictory.
Liam didn't say anything. At this moment, he couldn't admit it, could he?
