Chapter 493

The young man shot him a cold glare before dialing the police station and requesting their presence. Isabella Miller couldn't help but turn pale. The young man clearly didn't recognize that she was a famous celebrity.

"Isa, what should we do? It looks like this can't be settled with just a bit of cash."

Her agent, Tessa, stood anxiously beside her, whispering. Isabella was at a loss for a moment. After all, she was still Isabella—she just didn't want to go to the police station with this stranger.

"I was riding perfectly fine, but when I turned the corner, a car suddenly appeared out of nowhere. It scared me half to death. If I hadn't jumped off my bike in time, it wouldn't have been me—it would have been my bike that got hit."

The young man sat next to the police officer inside the station, recounting what had happened.

"I'll compensate you for the damages. Name your price, and I'll have my assistant transfer the money to your account."

Isabella's tone was dismissive. She thought the young man was making a mountain out of a molehill. But he refused to back down. Angered, she and the young man engaged in a heated verbal battle inside the station. The police had to mediate repeatedly before Isabella reluctantly stopped arguing.

However, someone had to take responsibility for the incident and serve a few days in jail. After all, the young man insisted on holding someone accountable. Without hesitation, Isabella pushed her driver forward.

"He did it. Not me."

Hearing this, the driver, Mr. Ken Thompson, turned white as a sheet. His face was deathly pale.

"It's your car and the people you hired. Even if the driver accidentally hit him, you can't just wash your hands of it. I heard you're a big star. Is this the kind of character you have? Tsk, tsk. Really impressive."

The young man looked at Isabella with disdain. Furious, Isabella instinctively raised her hand, just as she would with her own assistant, to strike the young man. Tessa grabbed her arm just in time.

"This is a police station. Do you think you can do whatever you want here?"

Tessa hissed through clenched teeth. Isabella reluctantly lowered her hand. The police officer glanced at the famous star, a flicker of sarcasm in his eyes. The young man's lips curled into a smirk as he watched the dispirited middle-aged driver. A glint of something unreadable flashed in his eyes.

What Isabella didn't know was that Liam Williams was on his way to the police station with a video. Captain David Reed was analyzing the footage. After Captain Reed assured Liam that the culprits would be arrested within three days, an officer entered and whispered something to him.

Captain Reed didn't hesitate to inform Liam.

"Isn't that Isabella Miller, the one in today's newspaper? Don't you think she's slapping herself in the face by treating Emma Johnson like that, especially since Emma has become a popular model?"

Captain Reed looked at Liam, puzzled.

"That's why she won't be staying in the country much longer."

A sharp glint flashed across Liam's eyes. Captain Reed understood and didn't ask further. He simply inquired why Isabella had come to the station and then returned to analyzing the two thugs with Liam.

Tessa said something to Mr. Thompson, the middle-aged driver. He barely nodded. Then Isabella put on her sunglasses and left the station first, while the driver was detained.

"I thought celebrities had class beyond their glamorous appearances. I didn't expect that when push comes to shove, they'd throw their people under the bus and just wave a few dirty bills around."

After the young man finished, the officer gave him a knowing smile, clearly agreeing. As the middle-aged driver was being led away in shackles, the young man suddenly turned around and decided not to press charges. Since the victim didn't want to sue, the driver didn't have to go to jail. The middle-aged driver almost bowed to the young man in gratitude.

"You don't have to thank me. After all, Isabella won't keep you around after this. She might give you some money, but it won't last you a lifetime. However, if you're willing to expose some of her scandals, you might just secure a comfortable retirement."

For a moment, the driver didn't understand. But when he saw the cunning look in the young man's eyes, he was startled. He seemed to grasp the implication.

After dinner, Emma's parents, James and Sophia Johnson, discussed the situation with her. Seeing their daughter's calm demeanor, they assumed she had a plan. They gradually relaxed. After all, their daughter had handled far worse things in the past. Today's newspaper headlines were nothing compared to what she'd been through before. In the end, everything had turned out fine. They were worrying too much.

They just had to trust that their daughter could handle it.

Although Emma was a bit upset, she didn't want her parents to worry. So she kept up a relaxed front in front of them. Then she went into the room to see Charlie. The little guy was playing a computer game, looking very happy.

"Why are you so happy today? I haven't seen you play like this before. Did you win?"

Emma went to Charlie's side, watching his cheerful little face, and couldn't help but kiss his cheek.

"Yeah, I won a lot. The other side didn't even have a chance to fight back."

Charlie was beaming, like a ray of sunshine. Emma looked at his face, so similar to Liam's, and felt a momentary trance.

Charlie didn't know what his mother was thinking. He thought she was still worried about today's newspaper incident, so he tried to cheer her up with happy talk. Emma finally managed a smile. Charlie felt a little relieved.

That Isabella Miller was really awful. She needed to be taught a lesson. Did she think his mother could be bullied so easily? He wanted to make Isabella understand that anyone who bullied his mother would face tenfold, a hundredfold retaliation. They wouldn't even find the regret medicine.

Charlie leaned into Emma's arms, his mind coldly plotting.

The next day, Isabella didn't go to film. The manager of Liam Williams' entertainment company suddenly called a press conference, announcing that due to Isabella's misconduct, the company had no intention of renewing her contract.
