It wasn't fair to those women.
I'd rather be alone than be forced into anything.
Christopher naturally noticed the president's displeasure. However, he knew that once the president learned who had acquired Barry, that unhappiness would vanish quickly.
"What do you mean, Emma is back?"
Liam threw down his pen and rose from his chair. His eyes, usually as cold as a frozen lake, now rippled with emotion at the news of Emma Johnson's return.
Christopher hadn't seen the president this excited in a long time. And every time he got excited, it was always because of the former president's wife. This time was no exception.
So when he saw Liam like this, Christopher wasn't surprised. It was obvious. He nodded firmly to Liam.
"I've confirmed with someone. It's her."
Christopher hesitated for a second, but he chose to use the term "wife" in his address. He knew the president would prefer it that way. After all, in the president's heart, he probably never considered himself a divorced man.
As for the divorce news the media had exposed before, it was only because of the old man's advice. The old man was anxious to hold his grandson. After waiting patiently for several years, he finally couldn't bear it anymore.
As long as the outside world knew the president was single, it was possible for other women to approach him. Although in Christopher's opinion, whether the president was divorced or not, there were never fewer women around him.
"Emma is back. She's really back."
Liam's thin, cool lips couldn't help but curl up into a deep smile. He was clearly happy. As long as she was back, he didn't believe he had no chance.
So he didn't delay. Even if he couldn't face her directly, as long as he could look at her from a distance, that was enough. Liam ignored the documents on his desk and left the office with his car keys.
Christopher was a dutiful assistant. He picked up the papers the president had accidentally dropped to the floor in his excitement and neatly placed them back on the desk. Then he left the office without delay.
Emilia saw Liam leave so suddenly, and her eager steps were strange. She rarely saw the president lose his composure. Her heart couldn't help but feel surprised. When she saw Christopher come out later, she couldn't resist asking him.
Instead, Christopher looked at Emilia strangely. "Didn't she contact you? What happened when she returned to China the other day?"
Emilia's face froze for a moment, and then she gave Christopher an unnatural smile. Since Emma had gone abroad, she had never called her. On the contrary, after Emma had called her twice, maybe she stopped calling because of Emilia's lukewarm responses.
After all, she thought that after Emma went abroad, she would never come back. Even if she did come back, it would be years later. By then, she would no longer have any relationship with the president, and there would be no need to contact her. No one thought she would come back five years later, several years earlier than the ten years Emilia had expected.
It made her understand in a flash why the president had just been so impolite. Coupled with Christopher's earlier address to Emma, Emilia felt a thump in her heart, and a very bad premonition rose up.
Had she expected too much happiness? She thought that since the president was able to instruct the media to disclose the divorce, it meant he had already given up on Emma. But she didn't know it was the old man's doing.
Now that she knew Liam might not have thought about giving up Emma, Emilia's heart couldn't help but start to panic.
If Liam really pursued Emma back, what would she do? In the past few years, she had been careless.
Watching Christopher leave, Emilia returned to her seat full of worry. Her eyes looked at the computer, but her mind was a mess. She was full of thoughts about how to find an opportunity to restore her relationship with Emma.
Otherwise, in case the boss found out what was going on here and told her what to do. But because of her relationship with Emma, she couldn't go on smoothly. She was afraid that not only her stable life was not guaranteed, but also her life would be unknown.
Liam drove his Land Rover to the residential area where Emma's parents lived. By this time, the sky was already darkening. If he guessed correctly, Emma would definitely come back to live with her parents. During the long wait, he wasn't sure if he could see Emma at the gate of the community. He was also afraid that three years later, there might be other men around her.
His originally calm and indifferent heart had now become impatient. He held the steering wheel tightly with both hands. There was sweat in his palms.
Finally, he saw the familiar shadow he hadn't seen for a long time. Before he could get excited, his obsidian eyes immediately saw a little man in the woman's hand.
The child looked four or five years old, delicate and lovely, with a steamed bun-like face and baby fat. A pair of big, black, and clear eyes were raised, blinking at the woman who was looking down gently at himself. An idle little fat hand was waving happily, as if saying something to the woman. The woman always wore a gentle smile, with deep warmth in her eyes.
This kid? Who is it?
Liam held the steering wheel tightly, almost crushing it. His eyes were fixed on the boy, and he felt that he had seven images of himself.
Perhaps blood was the most natural link. At a glance, Liam almost confirmed his guess. He felt his chest surging violently. Before the woman was about to take the boy into the community, his body had gotten out of the car before his consciousness.
Almost three steps and two steps to the woman's side.
"Emma."
A slightly hoarse magnetic voice made Emma stiffen and almost unable to move.
Charlie looked up at Mommy's pale face. He didn't know why Mommy wasn't smiling. Was it because the story he just told wasn't good? When he was thinking about changing the story of the wolf and the rabbit, a voice came from behind.
"Emma, he's my son, isn't he?"
The man's voice was affirmative. Charlie turned his head before Emma could. Reflecting the orange afterglow of the setting sun, he saw the tall and straight man in front of him. His steamed bun-like small face couldn't help but be a little stunned.
Why did he think this good-looking uncle looked a little familiar?
