Mia Lewis knew that Olivia Davis had already gone to Sunrise Manor. Worried that Olivia's temper might get out of control, she offered to handle the matter herself. Emma Johnson agreed.
When she arrived at Sunrise Manor, Liam Williams wasn't home. The old man was also out, visiting an old comrade in the hospital. So only Amelia White was in the living room. Seeing Mia, Amelia was stunned. She hadn't expected Mia to come to her.
Amelia's eyes flickered, and a cold sneer spread across her face.
"Charlotte, get rid of all of Emma's things. It's long overdue."
Hearing Amelia's words, Mia's face darkened. She thought, It's your brother who wronged my friend, and yet you're here acting all righteous and disdainful. What a performance.
Mia held back from lashing out, quietly instructing the workers to pack up Emma's belongings.
"Be careful. Don't miss anything, or you'll have to come back. By then, my servants might have thrown it all out as trash, and you won't find a thing."
Amelia stood aside, watching the workers come and go, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Mia couldn't take it anymore.
"Excuse me, are you a miss of the Williams family?"
Mia stepped in front of Amelia, suddenly smiling as she looked at her and asked. Amelia was taken aback and nodded.
"Of course I'm a miss of the Williams family. Who else would be standing in front of you?"
"Oh, I see. What a family misfortune."
Mia shook her head with a sigh.
"What do you mean? What family misfortune?"
Amelia was enraged by Mia's cryptic words. She couldn't help reaching out and grabbing Mia's arm to stop her from leaving.
Mia coldly looked at Amelia's hand gripping her arm. "Let go."
"So what? Explain yourself!"
Amelia tightened her grip. Mia's arm hurt. She hadn't expected this young lady to be so strong.
Mia gave her a cold smile and immediately dialed her phone.
"Hello, police station? I'd like to report an assault. Someone is using violence against me. I'm at Sunrise Manor. I hope, for the sake of citizens' safety, you can send someone here immediately. Otherwise, I won't hesitate to file a complaint against you."
Mia finished speaking and hung up, not giving Amelia another glance from start to finish. Amelia was stunned. She even forgot to let go. She hadn't expected Mia to call the police.
Half an hour later, Captain David Reed arrived with a few officers, his head already aching. He noticed a van parked at the entrance, seemingly loaded with a lot of things. It looked like a move. But he didn't have time to think too much, leading his men into Sunrise Manor.
At his rank, he usually didn't need to come in person. But when he heard the address was Sunrise Manor, Captain Reed was worried something big might happen. After all, it was Liam Williams's home, so he brought his own team.
When Mia rolled up her sleeve and showed the faintly bruised fingerprints on her arm to Captain Reed, he found himself in a bit of a dilemma. For a moment, he didn't know what to do.
"What's the matter, Captain Reed? Afraid to arrest someone when you hear she's the eldest miss of the Williams family? It seems your law enforcement officers also pick and choose based on status."
Mia looked coldly at Captain Reed, her sarcasm unmistakable.
"Why are you taking me to the police station? You're making a mountain out of a molehill!"
Amelia said angrily. She really was Emma's friend. How dare she treat her like this?
"So the fingerprints on my arm were accidentally pressed by some animal's claws?"
Mia stared coldly at Amelia. Amelia was furious and raised her hand to slap her. But Captain Reed stopped her in time.
"Miss Williams, this is your fault after all. Please control your temper."
Captain Reed looked at Amelia with a serious expression.
"You—how dare you lecture me? Who do you think you are?"
Amelia glared at Captain Reed, her face flushed with anger. Captain Reed's face turned completely dark. Mia couldn't help but laugh, thinking that Amelia was better when she had amnesia. At least she knew basic manners back then.
"What's going on?"
Suddenly, a cold voice came from the porch. Amelia turned around happily. Her beautiful eyes immediately filled with tears, which fell like rain. With a face full of grievance, she ran into Liam Williams's arms, sobbing.
"Brother, they're all bullying me. You have to avenge me."
Now, not only Mia but also Captain Reed was stunned. The two rarely exchanged a knowing look, both reading the word "speechless" in each other's eyes.
Just moments ago, she was arrogant and domineering, but the moment she saw Liam, she turned into a pitiful white lotus. Mia couldn't help thinking, No wonder Emma has always been indifferent to Amelia. If I were her, I'd be even more impatient.
"What's the matter? Mia, why are you here? Is Emma back too?"
Liam didn't hug Amelia to comfort her, letting her cry on her own. Instead, he looked at Mia, his eyes, usually as calm as an ancient pond, seeming to ripple. His voice carried an unavoidable hint of excitement.
"Do you think Emma would rarely return to this place that makes her sad? I just came to take all her things away."
Mia's tone was cold and shallow.
Liam suddenly thought of the van outside. He hadn't expected it to contain Emma's things.
"I won't let you take Emma's things away. She'll come back to live here in the future."
Liam's voice was cold, and he looked at Mia with displeasure. But Mia didn't care about his anger at all.
"Oh, really? But your dear sister wanted me to take them away immediately. She didn't even forget to remind me not to miss anything, saying she'd throw it all out as trash later. It seems President Williams also wants to dispose of Emma's things? In that case, it's better to return things to their original owner than to throw them away as rubbish."
After Mia finished speaking, Amelia, who was still crying on Liam's chest, couldn't help choking up, feeling unavoidably nervous.
"Amelia, did you say those words?"
Liam's voice was as cold as ice and snow. Now Amelia didn't dare to lean on his arms and complain anymore. But the tears in her eyes were still there.
"Brother, I was just fighting for you. It was this woman who spoke so badly that I couldn't help refuting her. I was just angry. That's not what I meant."
