Daniel Taylor had been with plenty of girlfriends before, but he'd never been this reckless. Now this PR crisis was consuming all his energy, leaving him no time to focus on Emma Johnson. The Oasis Holdings group was taking another hit because of his scandal.
Fortunately, Mr. Taylor knew what had happened back in those days. Otherwise, there was no way he wouldn't have been beaten to death by his grandfather this time.
Thinking about it, who else had the ability to dig up those old secrets besides Liam Williams? Daniel thought furiously.
Liam Williams, you and I are done.
"Back then, I never understood what my mother was thinking. She actually believed Daniel Taylor was a promising young man."
That night, the two of them lay in bed. Emma was flipping through a gossip magazine while Liam read a financial journal. After finishing her article, Emma set the magazine on the nightstand and shared her thoughts. She also turned off her bedside lamp.
"Well, lucky for you, you met me instead of Daniel Taylor."
Liam turned his head, looking at Emma lying beside him, a smile playing on his lips.
"I was just talking about Daniel. I wasn't comparing him to you."
Emma stretched lazily, resting her head on her pillow as she smiled up at him. In the dim light, her eyes sparkled with a hint of playful arrogance.
But Liam didn't mind her words. At that moment, all he could see was her languid, cat-like grace and the subtle allure she radiated without even realizing it. She never knew how captivating she truly was.
Tossing his financial magazine aside, Liam lifted the covers and pulled her into his arms. He found her lips and kissed her deeply. Parting her teeth, he danced with her sweet, soft tongue, savoring every moment.
Emma's eyes widened as she looked at the man's closed lids and his long, thick lashes. They said every handsome man had a pair of thick, delicate eyelashes, and she knew Liam belonged in that category. But this was the first time she'd noticed just how long his lashes were. Even thicker than hers.
Her vision blurred. Her weak, boneless hand pressed against his burning chest, as if scorched, and she instinctively tried to pull it back. His strong hand caught hers in time. With a swift move, he flipped her over and pinned her beneath him. Liam opened his eyes, and Emma saw her own dazed reflection in his deep, obsidian gaze.
She saw her own enchanting expression, so different from her usual self. It was so unfamiliar it made her flustered. Her big eyes shimmered, as if frightened by something. For a moment, she was stunned, looking utterly adorable.
Liam could no longer suppress the desire in his heart. He possessed her deeply. Only when they became one did he feel the emptiness in his chest finally fill.
"Sister Wei, even though the magazine says Daniel Taylor abandoned a woman who was pregnant with his child when he was young, I don't think he's a bad person. After all, he did help you a few days ago."
The next day, Emma and Emilia Clark were having tea and chatting in the tearoom. Emilia held the magazine in her hand and spoke to Emma.
Emma looked at Emilia with a hint of surprise. She hadn't expected Emilia to have such an opinion of Daniel Taylor. While there was some truth to what she said, from a woman's perspective, men like Daniel were still disgusting. Maybe it was because Emilia was still very young. She had little experience, and her understanding of relationships was almost blank. That's why she judged people so one-sidedly.
"No matter who he is, it has nothing to do with us. Just take the news for what it is."
Emma took a sip of her milk tea and began to smile. She didn't directly answer Emilia. A flicker of disappointment passed through Emilia's eyes. She wondered if she had been too eager to express herself. So she put the magazine aside and started talking about other things with Emma.
"By the way, Miss Amelia should be coming back soon. I wonder how her treatment in Switzerland went?"
Emma held her cup and nodded.
"In less than twenty days, she'll be back. As for the treatment's effect, there hasn't been much progress."
"That's good. I thought Miss Amelia wouldn't be back until at least a few days before the New Year."
Emilia showed a simple smile. Emma forced a smile and sighed. When Amelia came back this time, she and Liam wouldn't move out of Sunrise Manor immediately. After all, Benjamin wasn't home yet, and even if Amelia returned, the house would still feel empty.
Even if Liam agreed to move out, she would feel awkward bringing it up.
Well, she could get along with Amelia now. There shouldn't be any conflict. After all, the misunderstanding had been cleared up.
Emma tried to be optimistic about things. She let go of the matter and stopped dwelling on it. In the afternoon, she even remembered to stop by Amelia's coffee shop to help her check the accounts.
Then she went back to the company.
At noon, she went to the company cafeteria to cook for Liam. She no longer went to Elijah's house to cook for him. His cold had been cured a few days ago, and he had already returned to work at Brookhaven General Hospital. Although it made her feel a little guilty to hide it from Liam.
The cafeteria chefs had long since gotten used to Emma.
At first, they thought it was just a whim of the president's wife, and she wouldn't come back after a few days. But they didn't expect her to be so dedicated. She would come to make delicious food for the president whenever she had time. It was rare and virtuous.
It seemed not all rich ladies were spoiled and lazy.
If Emma knew what the cafeteria chefs thought of her, she would be very embarrassed. You know, before she got married, she never thought she would willingly walk into the kitchen and wash her hands for another man.
Two days later, Emma finished her scarf. When she hooked the last stitch, she breathed a sigh of satisfaction. Then she couldn't wait to take it to Liam's study.
Liam looked at Emma, who had her hands behind her back and was looking at him mysteriously. He couldn't help but laugh.
"What's the matter? Do you need something?"
"Well, see if it fits."
Emma gently bit her lip, took out the scarf from behind her, and held it in front of Liam.
Because Emma's head was slightly lowered, she didn't see the man's deep eyes instantly light up, shining as brightly as the stars.
