After all, as Mrs. Liam Williams, how could the journalists be willing to let her go?
"Emma, you're about to be interviewed by several major media outlets. Are you okay?"
Looking at Isabella's state, her agent, Tessa, asked with some concern.
"It's fine. Have the makeup artist touch up my face. Since I'm back, the media needs to see me. Just arrange the time."
Isabella's voice was a little hoarse, but she didn't look too terrible. Except her eyes seemed a bit red and swollen.
"Wait, where's my medicine?"
Isabella asked for her bag to be brought to her side, planning to take out her stomach medicine. It was an occupational hazard for many models. On top of that, Noah Taylor's departure had dealt a heavy blow to Isabella. For a long time, she hadn't eaten on time, which had worsened her stomach condition. So now she needed to take her medication regularly.
Isabella rummaged through her bag but couldn't find her box of stomach medicine.
"Look again. I remember you put it in your bag."
Emma said to Isabella. Before leaving, she had seen with her own eyes that her aunt had placed the stomach medicine in Isabella's bag and specifically told her not to forget to take it.
"Cousin, I think I dropped the medicine in the back of your car when I took out my mirror from my bag."
Isabella seemed to suddenly remember something and said to Emma.
"Go ahead for the interview first. I'll check the underground garage."
Tessa, who had just stepped out, came back in at that moment and told them that the media was already waiting for Isabella in another room.
So she let Isabella go for the interview first and went to find her stomach medicine herself.
"I'm sorry to trouble you, cousin," Isabella said, a little embarrassed.
Then she left the lounge with Tessa. Emma planned to take a look in the underground garage and took the elevator.
Unexpectedly, after she got into the elevator, it showed the second basement floor. Suddenly, the elevator stopped with a loud bang.
Emma couldn't help but freeze, staring blankly. She thought, Could I really be this unlucky? An elevator malfunction?
This was a five-star hotel. How could this happen?
Instinctively, she wanted to take out her phone and make a call. But she found that her phone had no signal at all. Emma had no choice but to knock on the door, hoping someone outside would hear her. After all, this was a big hotel; there would be plenty of people using the elevator.
Finally, after a while, Emma heard footsteps approaching from outside. When the elevator doors opened, she looked at the person wearing a mask in front of her and felt a little strange.
She always felt that the young man in the mask had cold eyes, almost devoid of warmth. It even made her feel a bit scared.
"Well, thank you for helping me."
Emma stepped out of the elevator and had just said this when she suddenly saw the man step forward. His hand, covered in a white glove, pressed against her nose and mouth.
Emma sensed the danger signal and instinctively wanted to escape. But the man grabbed her, and she couldn't move at all. Soon, she fell into darkness and completely passed out.
The young man hoisted Emma's body and dragged her into a black car. After putting her in the back seat, he got into the front and quickly drove out of the underground garage.
After Isabella finished her interview, she returned to the lounge but didn't see Emma back. She couldn't help thinking that more than half an hour had passed, which was enough time for several trips back and forth.
"Why hasn't your cousin come back yet?"
Tessa didn't see Emma and asked strangely.
"I don't know. Maybe she got held up with something else." Isabella shrugged, showing an indifferent expression on her face. She just took out her makeup kit to touch up her own face.
She didn't need to take stomach medicine anyway. Fortunately, her stomach condition hadn't flared up yet.
"It's really strange that the elevator broke down suddenly more than half an hour ago. I thought it would take a long time to fix, but it turned out to be working again in just a few minutes."
Said a staff member in the lounge.
"It's a five-star hotel. If this kind of accident happens again, it will make people doubt the quality of this hotel."
Another staff member chimed in on the conversation.
Isabella heard this, and her eyes became thoughtful.
"Emma, let's have the bodyguards go out and look for her. After all, your cousin is the president's wife. She came here today to accompany you to the press conference. If something happens to her, it won't be easy to explain to the president."
Tessa said to Isabella with some worry.
Isabella heard Tessa's words, and an unhappy expression appeared on her face. She thought, If it weren't for her, why would I have to personally ask her to come? It's all because of her identity as the president's wife. Why does my fiancé have to die, and I have to come out and continue my career? But she's always a happy, wealthy lady. This difference in status made Isabella very resentful and made her hate Emma even more.
"Don't worry. My cousin is an adult, and she's not a child. What could happen to her? It's not like we're in a dangerous country."
Isabella stopped Tessa from trying to send the bodyguards out to find Emma. She thought, If something did happen to her, I wouldn't have to rack my brains.
After listening to Isabella's words, Tessa thought what she said was reasonable. So she continued to wait patiently. It wasn't until Isabella had finished all the interviews and everyone was ready to leave that they realized Emma still hadn't returned.
At this point, Tessa started to panic.
"Go to the underground garage quickly. Don't let anything happen. Emma, call your cousin right now."
Tessa urged Isabella, but Isabella had no choice but to call Emma. However, the phone was always off. At this moment, Isabella guessed that Emma might really be in trouble.
A gloating smile didn't appear on her lips, but she didn't show it either.
"What should we do? Has something really happened to my cousin?"
A nervous and worried expression appeared on her face, and tears fell like they were free.
"I said we should have looked for her earlier. Now, if something really has happened, the president will be furious and hide you away. I'll even lose my job."
Tessa was really worried now. Since the phone couldn't be reached, wasn't it obvious that there was a problem?
Isabella wiped her tears with her hand, kept crying, and looked at Tessa's anxious appearance. She couldn't help cursing Emma in her heart.
