Noah Taylor was accused by Isabella Miller of being guilty and unwilling to leave.
"What are you talking about? Where do you see Emma? She's your cousin. How can you say something like that?"
If there weren't people everywhere, and her status as a famous model attracted so much attention, she would have flipped the table and walked out. But after a moment's thought, she held back. She wanted to see what Noah Taylor dared to do in front of her today.
Emma Johnson had been extremely busy, leaving Noah no chance to speak with her. Finally, he spotted her heading upstairs. He kept looking for an opportunity. Glancing at Isabella, who was putting on a friendly act, and the fans gathered for photos, he stood up and left without a word.
Emma wanted to ask a waiter upstairs for some coffee cups, as the ones downstairs weren't enough. Just as she was about to go back down, a hand suddenly reached out from the corner and pulled her into a shadowy spot.
Startled, she was about to scream when Noah's voice rang out urgently.
"Don't shout. It's me, Emma."
Emma pulled her hand away and stepped back two paces, glaring at him with displeasure.
"What do you want?"
The expression on her face had turned extremely impatient.
"I came to give you this."
Noah took a jewelry box from his pocket, opened it, and held it out to Emma. She didn't take it, but her eyes widened in surprise at the necklace inside.
"Do you remember when we first graduated from university? We passed a jewelry store, and you saw this necklace through the window. But I didn't have enough money to buy it for you then. I never expected to come across it again later. Maybe it's fate, Emma. I know it's late, but I still hope you'll accept it."
Noah looked at Emma as he spoke.
"Noah, I have nothing to do with you anymore. I'm not taking this necklace. Do you really think this will change my mind? You're so wrong."
After the initial surprise, not a trace of emotion stirred in Emma's eyes. How stubborn could this man be? Now that he was with Isabella, he should be careful. Instead, he was bothering her again. Did he think she would be moved to tears? She wasn't that shameless.
Watching Emma walk away without a backward glance, Noah stared at the necklace in his hand. It was clearly a failure. He didn't notice, not far away, Isabella standing quietly in a corner, watching him. This was the first time she had been so calm. Perhaps because she was too angry, she couldn't show anything on her face.
She never expected Emma to have left such a deep mark on Noah's heart. Why did she have to fall in love with a man like this?
The more love, the more hate. When Noah went downstairs, he didn't see the poison in Isabella's eyes as she watched him. It was almost deadly.
But soon, she left as if nothing had happened. Shortly after Noah returned to his seat, Isabella also went back.
Across the window, Emma spotted a familiar car. It was the Rolls-Royce Benjamin Williams always drove. Although she couldn't see him through the dark tinted windows, she didn't need to. She knew Benjamin must be watching Amelia White's every move.
Emma thought for a moment, then went over to Amelia and told her what she had noticed.
"I don't want to talk to my second brother. Who told him to fight with my eldest brother? If he wants to come in, I won't kick him out. But I'm not going out to call him."
Faced with Amelia's cold reaction, Emma felt helpless. She wondered if Benjamin would feel sad if he heard these words.
If she were Benjamin, she would be heartbroken.
Benjamin sat in the car, watching Amelia's busy figure, a sweet and satisfied smile on his face. He realized he really didn't know Amelia as well as his eldest brother did. No wonder she liked to stick to him so much.
But even so, he wouldn't give up on her.
"Let's go." Benjamin knew Amelia must have seen him. His car was too obvious. But she didn't come to find him. She was clearly angry with him. It seemed he wouldn't be able to enter her shop today.
He spoke slowly to the driver, and the Rolls-Royce quickly left the street.
When Emma finished serving a table and looked out the window again, Benjamin's Rolls-Royce was gone.
She felt it was a pity. On the first day of opening, Benjamin couldn't even come in and sit down.
Christopher Martin arrived with Liam Williams soon after. When Christopher saw Noah in the coffee shop, a cold glint flashed in his eyes. But he paid him no attention, simply letting Christopher place the huge flower basket outside the shop. Amelia said she was very happy. She took Liam's arm, looking extremely satisfied.
Emma saw how intimate she was with Liam and felt a twinge of unease. But she told herself not to be so petty. After all, Amelia was Liam's sister. It wasn't the first or second time. She had to get used to it.
"I saw Benjamin today. His car was just across the street, but he didn't come out. He just left."
When Liam came to find Emma, she told him about Benjamin.
"I see. You've been busy all morning. Are you tired? Come back with me and get some rest. You've already done more than enough as a sister-in-law. There's no need to exhaust yourself."
Liam nodded faintly, then reached out his slender fingers to tuck a stray strand of hair behind Emma's ear. His low, charming voice gently rang in her ear.
It seemed to carry a hint of concern.
"That's not right. Besides, Amelia is too busy herself. There are so many guests today."
Although Emma also wanted to go back and rest, her main reason was that she didn't want to see Noah. His presence here made her uncomfortable. Especially thinking about what he had said to her upstairs and the necklace he had taken out, she felt even more unable to stay. If Isabella found out, who knew what would happen.
"Don't worry. I'll leave it to someone else. It's enough that there are more guests in the afternoon."
A gentle smile curved Liam's lips. His words dispelled Emma's worries.
