Chapter 309

"You don't have to push yourself so hard. There's plenty of time—no need to stay up all night."

That wasn't what Liam had in mind when he made Emma the project lead for the winter launch. But once she threw herself into the work, she became a complete workaholic, not even registering his words.

After all, if the conference failed, she wouldn't be able to face the trust he'd placed in her.

It took Emma three days to finalize the project plan and decide on the brand's image spokesperson. And that person was Isabella.

Even though she'd hesitated at first about using Isabella, she'd thought it through carefully. Isabella might not be a professional actress, but she was a professional model. Lately, she'd been making waves in the modeling industry, and her usual cool, media-savvy style was a perfect fit. Objectively speaking, Isabella was indeed the most suitable choice for the brand's image right now.

Once the decision was made, Emma called Isabella after dinner to let her know.

"Really? Cousin, you want me to be the spokesperson for Milan Fashion House's winter clothing line?" Isabella's voice was full of surprise.

She'd been worried lately about how to take her career to the next level. Even though she was a contracted model with Liam's agency, she wasn't quite at the level of an international model yet. So she was a bit surprised that Emma had thought of her for such an important event.

"I'm not choosing you because you're my cousin. Your look genuinely matches the image of Milan Fashion House's new winter collection. I know you can do this. Tomorrow, I'll have Christopher contact your agent with the details."

Emma was telling the truth, without any personal bias.

"I understand, cousin. Thank you. It's true—only my cousin remembers me."

Isabella's gratitude didn't make Emma feel particularly satisfied. She'd chosen Isabella simply because she was the right fit.

After hanging up, Isabella's face still held a happy expression.

"It seems Emma hasn't forgotten about you, her cousin. No matter what, you two are sisters. She'll always think of you when something comes up."

Hearing Noah say something good about Emma, a faint, almost imperceptible sneer crossed Isabella's lips.

"Yes, of course my cousin has to think of me. After all, she's family too."

"Why don't we invite her to dinner in a couple of days to thank her?"

As expected, Noah suggested having dinner with Emma.

"But I just heard from her on the phone that she's in charge of the Milan Fashion House winter launch. I'm afraid she won't have time for at least a month. I think it's better to wait until this is over."

Isabella wasn't happy about it inside, but she didn't show it on her face. Instead, she put on an apologetic expression as she spoke to Noah.

"Alright, we'll wait until a month from now. I'm heading out early. You can get some rest at home."

After saying that to Isabella, Noah picked up his coat and left the villa.

Isabella watched him leave coldly, unable to suppress a sneer.

Why would Emma think of her? She was probably just making up for not helping her get into that international film investment last time. If Isabella thought Emma actually cared about her, she'd be a fool. But she wasn't about to give up on Noah.

On Sunday, Emma set aside her busy schedule and went back to Sunrise Manor with Liam.

By now, Amelia had recovered from her illness. When she saw the two of them return, her expression was a bit complicated. But she quickly put on a sweet smile to welcome them.

"Brother, sister-in-law, you're back."

"Mm."

Liam only nodded lightly at her. Emma asked about Amelia's health.

"I'm much better now. Thank you for your concern."

At dinner that evening, Henry asked about the company's recent situation down south. Liam said everything was going well.

The old man was relieved. Benjamin, on the other hand, wasn't treated the same way. Even though Las Vegas Entertainment City, which he managed, was thriving, he didn't often appear on the covers of gossip magazines. But his past reputation as a playboy who wasn't serious about his work was too deeply ingrained. So the old man figured it was pointless to ask. As long as there was nothing wrong with Las Vegas, he'd be grateful.

His expectations for Benjamin were completely different from those for Liam. He just hoped his second son could keep himself busy—that would already be good enough.

When Liam had asked Benjamin to manage Las Vegas, he'd hoped his brother could gain some experience and eventually take on more of the company's affairs.

"Sister-in-law, have you been tired lately? You don't look so well."

Amelia suddenly asked Emma.

These past few days, Emma had indeed been going to bed a bit late, all in an effort to make the winter clothing conference perfect. She personally checked every detail, striving for the best.

"I'm alright. Just been a bit busy lately."

When Amelia heard Emma say that, her eyes suddenly lit up.

"Sister-in-law, I'm so bored at home. Why don't I be your assistant? That way, you'll have an easier time too."

Emma looked at Amelia awkwardly. This wasn't the first time Amelia had proposed working at Liam's company. But given her current condition, it wasn't very realistic. Still, looking at Amelia's bright eyes, Emma didn't know how to refuse. She instinctively glanced at Liam, hoping he could help her out.

"What your sister-in-law has been working on recently is very important. You wouldn't be able to help her. Besides, she already has an assistant. If you're really bored, you can have the servants take you out."

Liam was helping Emma out. Naturally, Henry and Benjamin wouldn't approve of Amelia going to the company either. Although her condition was stable now, there had been no progress. Over the past two years, she still couldn't remember anything. Even after trying many methods, even Dr. Jones and Dr. Moore had said that only a miracle could happen at this point.

After all, when a doctor can't cure a disease, it's largely up to fate.

Amelia got up, a little unhappy, and went back to her room. Emma ran after her, following her upstairs to comfort her.
