Chapter 303

"Is Amelia okay? How could she have a fever?"

Emma Johnson looked at Amelia White's flushed cheek and asked.

"Miss White was pacing back and forth in the living room last night. I went to persuade her to go back to her room and rest. She said she had a terrible nightmare and couldn't sleep. It turned out she caught a chill."

One of the maids answered Emma, explaining the reason.

Emma sighed softly and silently helped the maid change the towel for Amelia.

She and Liam didn't go to the company. They waited until Dr. Julian Moore arrived. Dr. Moore gave Amelia an injection to bring down her fever. Amelia gradually opened her eyes.

"Amelia, even if you had a nightmare last night, you shouldn't have walked back and forth in the living room in the middle of the night. You can't be so careless with your health in the future, you know?"

Benjamin Williams saw Amelia open her eyes and looked at her sick face. His expression was full of concern.

"Second brother, I didn't mean to. But the nightmare last night was terrifying. I just felt someone push me from behind in a dark space, and then my body seemed to tumble down the stairs. Then my whole body felt like it was falling apart. That feeling was truly horrible. That's why I couldn't stay in my bedroom."

As Amelia said this, she seemed to recall the dream from last night again. She appeared a little frightened.

Emma couldn't help thinking about the events before Amelia's amnesia. Although she hadn't pushed Amelia down the stairs, it was clear that this incident was devastating for Amelia. Even though she had lost her memory, it remained in her subconscious and surfaced in her dreams.

"Sister-in-law, can you stay home with me today? I'm so bored by myself."

Amelia suddenly looked at Emma and asked with pitiful eyes. Her eyes seemed to hold autumn water, making it hard to refuse. And Emma felt some guilt toward her. Amelia's request wasn't demanding, so she subconsciously agreed.

She didn't ask Liam what he thought.

But Liam also planned to let Emma stay home. Now Emma was taking the initiative to stay with Amelia, which was something he was happy to see.

Although Benjamin wanted to stay, Amelia didn't seem inclined to rely on him. This made him sad and helpless. Finally, he could only leave with Liam.

"Thank you for staying with me, sister-in-law. I don't know why, but I'm afraid to stay in my room alone in bed."

Amelia blinked her innocent eyes and looked at Emma gratefully.

"It's okay. As long as your fever gets better soon, I can stay with you for a few days."

Emma didn't mind. Besides, these past two days she really wasn't suitable to go to the company. Even with the love between Elijah Clark and Mia Lewis, there was still a lot of gossip about her every day. They would dig up everything about her, from small to big, and rehash it all.

"Sister Emma, I'm a little hungry. Can you bring me some food?"

Amelia suddenly said to Emma. Emma got up and went downstairs to serve Amelia a bowl of porridge without using a maid. She took two small dishes and brought them up on a tray.

"Sister Emma, can you feed me? It's not convenient for me right now."

One of Amelia's hands was hooked up to an IV, making it really inconvenient. Emma stirred the porridge with a spoon until it wasn't so hot, and then she began to feed Amelia.

She didn't know if it was because sick people were particularly hard to please. Amelia felt the porridge was too hot at first, and when Emma fed it to her later, she felt it was a little cold. Emma had no choice but to ask the maid on the other side to bring a new bowl.

Although the porridge finally met Amelia's appetite, she started to complain about the dishes again. She suddenly wanted to eat some cold cucumber.

She kept fussing until Amelia finished her breakfast. Emma had worked up a sweat on her back. Two hours had passed.

She couldn't help thinking that although she would stay in bed for several days when she had a cold, it didn't seem like she could torture people like this. Several times she even felt that Amelia didn't really have a cold.

But looking at her pale face and the needle on the back of her hand, it was obvious she had a fever.

Nearly three hours later, Amelia finally lay on the bed again, closed her eyes, and slowly fell asleep. However, before she fell asleep, she didn't forget to grasp one of Emma's hands, saying it made her feel safe.

Poor Emma could only sit by the bed waiting for Amelia to wake up. It was almost noon, and when her stomach started to protest, she remembered she hadn't had breakfast.

She had been busy all morning, and only thought about it now.

She moved, and Amelia quickly reacted, gripping her hand tightly again. Emma sighed. She'd better wait until she woke up. Otherwise, she was afraid Amelia would be scared again.

It seemed the nightmare last night had really tormented her.

At that moment, the maid Charlotte Harris knocked on the door and came in, holding Emma's phone in her hand.

"Madam, your phone has been ringing several times. I took the liberty of bringing it to you."

Charlotte handed the ringing phone to Emma.

Emma took it and saw the caller ID was Emilia Clark. She thought about it. Was there something wrong that Emilia was calling her at this time? Confused, she pressed the answer button.

"Sister Emma, I passed the interview. Tomorrow I'll be a member of the Executive Secretariat. I can work on the same floor as you."

Emilia's joyful voice came from the other end of the phone, and Emma remembered that today was Emilia's interview for the secretary position. She was also very happy to hear such good news. Although Emilia wasn't from a famous university or a professional background, she had been recognized by Liam and the manager of the Human Resources department, which showed she was still very capable.

"Congratulations, Emilia."

Emma wished sincerely.

"Thank you, Sister Emma. But why didn't you come to the company today? I was thinking of inviting you to lunch at noon."

Emilia asked inevitably.

"It's because Amelia is sick. I stayed with her at home, so I didn't go to the company."

"Ah, is Miss White okay?"

Emilia asked after listening.

"Fortunately, she caught a cold last night, so she had a fever. The doctor said it's okay. Just need to rest well, and she'll be fine in two days."

Emma said to Emilia.
