"Amelia, your sister-in-law was frightened last night and didn't get any rest. You should go out and let her have some quiet time."
Liam Williams frowned deeply, speaking with clear displeasure to Amelia White, who was still clinging to Emma Johnson while crying.
Amelia's body stiffened as she released Emma from her embrace, sniffling as she pulled away. Her expression was a mixture of hurt and reluctance.
"Sister-in-law, did I disturb your rest? I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. I just heard this morning that you were in danger last night, and I couldn't wait to see you. I had no idea I would be bothering you."
Looking at Amelia's tear-streaked face, Emma didn't know what to say.
But she truly hadn't invited Amelia to stay in her room. She was exhausted and desperately needed to lie down and get some proper sleep.
Seeing that Emma remained silent, Amelia had no choice but to stand up and lower her head in apology. Watching Liam's displeased expression, the concern he had shown her yesterday seemed to evaporate in an instant. Amelia's hands unconsciously clenched into fists, then she rubbed her swollen eyes and left the room.
"Amelia, what happened? Didn't you go to see Emma? Why are you crying like this? Did she mistreat you?"
Seeing Amelia's puffy eyes, Benjamin Williams asked with concern.
"No, it's all my fault. My sister-in-law needs to rest. I shouldn't have gone to see her at this time."
Amelia's voice was filled with regret. Hearing this, Benjamin couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.

Benjamin was furious on Amelia's behalf.

Amelia said unhappily to Benjamin.

Emma finally lay down, pulled the covers over herself, and soon fell asleep again.

Sitting up in bed, Emma stretched her arms wide. She reached for the bedside table and turned on the lamp, casting a soft glow across the room.
At that moment, Liam came out of his study, having been busy there all day. Seeing Emma's flushed face as she woke up, a gentle smile curved at the corner of his mouth.
He brought over the medical kit and personally changed the gauze on Emma's forehead. Looking at the thumb-sized wound that had already formed a dark red scab, his eyes darkened.
"I won't let you get hurt again."
Liam's low voice echoed slowly through the room, unintentionally striking a chord in Emma's heart, lingering there for a long time.
Soon, Amelia knocked on the door. Seeing that Emma was awake, she cautiously asked if she would like to go to the dining room. Emma agreed with a smile, and seeing that there was no resentment on her face, Amelia finally relaxed completely. She then dragged Emma into the dressing room to change clothes before heading to dinner with the Williams brothers.
During dinner, Emma noticed a news broadcast playing on the restaurant's TV. Privately, he was also keeping mistresses, including some second and third-tier female celebrities. Investigators had already been dispatched to look into the matter. It seemed that Director Wright's good days were coming to an end. Emma glanced at Liam, whose expression remained unchanged. She thought to herself that his hand moved quickly indeed. Once Director Wright fell, the next step would be to investigate Secretary Lewis.
They say that when a person rises to power, everyone around them benefits. But when that person falls, everyone around them suffers as well.
So this time, Liam's plan should be safe.
The next day, accompanied by Mayor Reed and several entrepreneurs, Liam and Christopher Martin went to inspect the site where the project would begin. As Liam's assistant, Emma should have gone as well. But now, since she was injured, she could only stay in the hotel and recuperate.
On the bright side, she could take it easy. But the price of laziness was not small.
Amelia took the initiative to accompany her every day. Emma honestly thought it would be better if she didn't. Because when Amelia came, she couldn't rest or sleep, and in the end, she wasn't sure who was keeping whom company.
Two days later, Liam probably noticed. So he ordered Benjamin and Amelia to return to the city the next day. He told her to go back and keep the old man company. Amelia clearly didn't want to leave, but she was afraid of making Liam angry. In the end, she could only leave reluctantly.
Before leaving, she planned to take Emma with her.
