Isabella Miller brought Amelia White back.
"I left my scarf at the shop during the show, so I came back with my agent to get it. When I arrived, I saw a few thugs dragging a woman into the alley outside the mall. Her dress looked familiar, so I took a closer look and realized it was Miss White. I called the police and brought her back. But she seems pretty shaken up."
Isabella looked at Amelia, who was trembling and crying in Liam Williams' arms, clinging to him tightly. She spoke to him and Emma Johnson.
"Isabella, thank you. If it weren't for you, something terrible would have happened to Amelia."
For the first time, Emma spoke to Isabella with genuine gratitude.
"Seeing something like that, how could I just walk away? Cousin, cousin-in-law, I have to go now. I have an event to get to."
Isabella said her goodbyes and left.
Liam nodded at her.
"Brother, I was so scared. I felt completely helpless. Thank goodness Isabella saw me. Otherwise, I would have rather hit my head against the wall than let those men touch me."
Amelia clutched Liam's shirt tightly, tears streaming down her face.
"It's okay. It's over now. We're going home."
Liam's voice was gentle as he comforted Amelia. Emma followed them silently, not saying a word.
"Sister-in-law, I wanted to wait for you outside the coffee shop. It was too crowded inside, and I felt awkward sitting there alone. But I didn't expect those thugs to find me. Please don't be mad at me."
Amelia buried her face in Liam's chest and nervously explained to Emma.
"I'm not mad. It was my fault for leaving you alone in the coffee shop. It won't happen again."
Emma looked at Amelia's guilty expression. Right now, Amelia must be terrified.
"Brother, please don't tell Dad or Benjamin about this, okay? They'll worry, and they'll blame my sister-in-law."
Liam looked at his sensible, clever sister and nodded. Emma felt a pang of guilt and sympathy for Amelia.
The three of them returned to Sunrise Manor. Liam personally escorted Amelia to her room and stayed until she fell asleep before leaving.
"From now on, when you go out with Amelia, I'll send bodyguards to follow you. I don't want anything like this to happen again."
Liam's face was cold. Emma knew he was in a bad mood, and she felt guilty too. So she obediently nodded.
"Forget it. It's better if you don't go out with her anymore."
Liam thought for a moment and then said firmly.
She looked at the man's distrustful eyes, and her chest suddenly felt like it had been stabbed with a knife. He could blame her, but what was that look supposed to mean?
Did he think she had deliberately put Amelia in danger?
"Fine. I won't go shopping with Amelia anymore. You can rest easy."
A bitter smile appeared on Emma's lips. Then she got up and left the bedroom. Liam watched her retreating back, lost in thought.
Emma, if this was really a deliberate plot between you and Elijah Clark to use Amelia as a threat against me, I will never forgive you.
The next day, Emma and Liam went to the company. Compared to the curious gossip from the employees at the beginning, they had now started to get used to the presence of the CEO's wife.
Today, Emma had more to do than just make coffee for Liam.
She had to memorize Liam's schedule for the day, file and organize the project documents on his desk, and even take on the role of a cleaner, wiping down tables and chairs in her spare time.
She had become a regular assistant, but she was further away from her dream of being an editor than ever.
"Clean up the table and come with me."
"Where are we going?"
"To eat."
Liam took Emma to a new Italian restaurant, but they unexpectedly ran into William Thompson there.
"Isn't this President Williams? I didn't expect you to be so romantic in the middle of your busy schedule, bringing your wife out to eat. This restaurant is really good."
Seeing William reminded Emma of their last meeting. The bloody scene made her shudder. Although William looked like a smiling fox, she had no idea how cruel he really was.
"Mr. Thompson, you seem to have a lot of free time too."
Liam gave a faint smile, as cold as ice.
"Of course. My company is running efficiently, so how could I not be in a good mood? By the way, I heard that the winter clothing conference for Milan Fashion House is about to start. I suppose this year's winter brand will be Milan Fashion House."
"Isn't that obvious?"
Liam said it casually. Emma couldn't help but roll her eyes. Boss, don't you know the meaning of the word 'modesty'? Can't you see William's face twitching?
"But President Williams, I still want to remind you that fortunes can change. Some things, if you take them for granted, might come back to bite you later. It's not easy to handle everything perfectly in such a huge family business."
"I don't need you to worry about that. Shouldn't you be more concerned about your own affairs?"
Liam mercilessly slapped him down, and William's face finally turned black.
...
"Why do you have to be so harsh? Didn't you see how bad his face looked when he left? He's a villain. As the saying goes, it's better to offend a gentleman than a villain."
During dinner, Emma couldn't help but speak up.
"Him? I'm afraid he'll regret it more than I will."
Liam dismissed him with disdain. Emma looked at him and thought, Okay, you win.
For a man with a military background, someone like William, who had ties to the underworld, was like a cat meeting a mouse. Have you ever heard of a cat being afraid of a mouse? Of course not.
During dinner, Elijah Clark suddenly called Emma. She instinctively looked at Liam, and the man opposite was indeed staring at her.
"Elijah might have something urgent. I'll step out and take the call."
Emma didn't know why she wanted to avoid Liam, but he clearly didn't agree.
"What's the rush? Take it right here."
Liam's tone was domineering.
Emma thought, I'm not doing anything wrong, so why should I be nervous? So she answered the phone in front of Liam.
"Vivi."
"What's up?"
"Nothing important. A colleague of mine bought two movie tickets but can't make it, so he gave them to me. Are you free tonight? Want to go see it together? It's directed by Stephen Chow. He's your favorite comedian, isn't he?"
