Chapter 258

Dr. Julian Moore was still shaken.

He clearly remembered sitting on the balcony that morning, a newspaper in hand, leisurely eating the sandwiches his wife had made and drinking strong coffee. How did he end up in the young master's car the very next moment?

He looked at Liam Williams, who was driving beside him, and noticed that he wasn't even wearing shoes. It seemed the condition of the young mistress was truly worrying.

After being rushed to the young master's apartment, Dr. Moore gave Emma Johnson, who was lying unconscious in bed, a thorough examination.

When he finished, his expression was grim.

"Young master, do you still remember the infertility-inducing medicine the young mistress was given last time? I still haven't identified several of its ingredients. I believe it's a formula that doesn't exist in China. Because of this, even though we caught it in time, the young mistress was still affected. Her body isn't as strong as it used to be. She can't overexert herself. Her blood pressure is so low that she faints easily. I suggested last time that she get plenty of rest. Even if she works, it's best not to exceed eight hours a day."

For a normal person, working eight hours is standard. It wouldn't affect anything. But the key was that Emma, as editor-in-chief, sometimes voluntarily worked overtime due to work demands. There were so many things to worry about that her work intensity often exceeded eight hours.

"I understand. Dr. Moore, please prescribe the medicine first."

Liam looked at the pale, sleeping Emma on the bed and said to Dr. Moore.

"Young master, your foot is injured. I'd better bandage your wound first."

Dr. Moore looked at Liam's foot and said. It had been accidentally scratched when Liam stepped on the accelerator. Although the wound wasn't big, if it wasn't treated in time, tetanus could easily set in.

Liam walked silently to the living room, not asking Dr. Moore to give him a local anesthetic, letting him disinfect the wound directly.

Dr. Moore looked at the young master's gloomy face and didn't dare to ask what had happened. For the young mistress to faint, a quarrel between the two was certain.

Although it was a matter for a young couple, it probably wasn't a trivial matter to have quarreled so fiercely.

When Emma woke up, she felt a headache. She got up from the bed and took a long time to get her bearings before she remembered that she had quarreled with Liam that morning. But before the fight was over, she had fainted first.

When she thought of Liam's attitude towards her, she was furious.

So she lifted the quilt and walked out of the bedroom.

She saw the man standing on the balcony, dressed in casual clothes. The afternoon sun shone on him like a golden halo. One of his hands was in his pocket, and the other was holding a cigarette, which blurred his cold face.

This was the first time Emma had seen Liam smoke. There was a kind of atmosphere around him. She didn't know if it was her own illusion, but she always felt that there seemed to be a complicated pain in Liam's eyes.

She thought she must have seen it wrong. He was Liam Williams. That morning, he could say he wanted to dissect his heart. How could he say it in such a cold and heartless way?

Just as Liam was about to put the cigarette in his mouth again, it was mercilessly snatched away by a delicate jade hand. Then he looked at Emma, who crushed out the cigarette and threw it into the garbage can.

"You're not the only one living here. Please don't pollute the air in the room."

Emma's voice was cold as she stared at Liam.

Seeing that Emma had regained her vitality, Liam was relieved. But the way she looked at him was not as usual, but with extraordinary anger.

"Now that you're awake, get some rest at home. Don't go to Barry anymore. I've already called your boss and resigned for you."

On top of Emma's original anger, Liam mercilessly threw out another heavy bomb, leaving Emma unable to recover for a long time.

"What did you say? Say it again."

Emma's chest heaved violently. She asked Liam in disbelief.

"I don't like to repeat myself a second time. You've been with me for months. Can't you even remember that?"

"Liam, why do you decide to end my career without my permission? You don't have that right at all."

Emma yelled angrily.

Is that right? If I don't have the right, then does Elijah Clark have it? Emma, maybe you would never treat him like this when you face him.

Liam sneered in his heart, but he wouldn't give in with his words.

"I've made up my mind. Whether you agree or not, don't go back to your boss, Joshua Harris. Three years of magazine sponsorship is enough to make him abandon you and find another editor-in-chief. You should know that there is no shortage of talent in this world."

Emma felt her breathing hurt. She knew that Liam always meant what he said, but she didn't expect that this tyranny would really be used on her. She had just fainted, and when she woke up, she didn't even have a job.

This hateful man always knew how to control the weakness of the human heart. Joshua Harris attached great importance to the sponsorship funds that could keep the magazine running normally. Now Liam had solved the problem for him for three years. He was probably grinning from ear to ear even when he went to bed at night.

For her, the editor-in-chief, she naturally wouldn't be so valued. Because even if she worked hard for Barry and spat blood for ten years, she wouldn't get such a huge sponsorship from Liam.

Emma's eyes were red, but she was stubborn and didn't let her tears fall. Her lips were pale with anger, and the color of her blood faded. When Liam thought she would say something, Emma suddenly turned around and quickly walked into the bedroom.

Then, he heard the sound of clattering in the bedroom for a long time, and then Emma came out with her big silver suitcase.

"Liam, you are cruel. Even if I lose my job at Barry, I can find something else. I don't believe that with my ability, no other company will accept me. And I'm going home now. One more second with someone like you makes me feel angry."

Emma angrily dropped these words and left the apartment with her suitcase. Liam didn't chase after her. Instead, he began to laugh at himself. Then he took out another cigarette from the box and lit it for himself again.
