Liam Williams felt a flicker of helplessness. If Emma Johnson had asked him, he could have arranged for one of the Pinnacle Corporation's actors who had won international film awards to be the cover star of her magazine. Even though Scarlett Martinez was currently in the spotlight, she wasn't as famous as those global artists.
But it was clear that Emma hadn't thought of that. If he brought it up now, he was afraid she would just reject him.
"By the way, since your company is our magazine's sponsor, I'd like to use the latest Milan Fashion House collection for Scarlett's shoot this time. Is that okay?"
Emma shifted gears, thinking about business as she looked at Liam.
"Tomorrow, I'll have Christopher come to your office to discuss the details with you."
Liam agreed so readily that a huge weight lifted from Emma's shoulders. The moment she relaxed, her curiosity got the better of her.
"So, you really don't remember Scarlett at all? I know you must have been a big man on campus back in high school, but Scarlett was the head cheerleader. She was practically every guy's dream girl. There's no way you don't remember her, right?"
Emma studied Liam with a skeptical look. She suspected the CEO was just playing it cool, pretending to be indifferent. In reality, he had to know who Scarlett was.
"So what? I never paid attention to girls back then. Even if I exchanged a few words with her, why would I remember that for so long?"
Liam spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world. What he didn't tell Emma was that, in all these years, she was the first woman who had ever truly gotten close to him.
Everyone else was just a passing cloud.
"What a shame. Such a romantic campus love story, and you missed it. Don't you think it's a pity, Liam? To have such beautiful memories without a deep love to go with them?"
"One person is enough for love. We'll meet sooner or later. What's there to regret? It only proves I had no fate with her."
"If Scarlett heard you say that, she'd probably be heartbroken. She's been carrying a torch for you for ten years, and you don't even remember her."
Emma felt a pang of sympathy for Scarlett at that moment. As a woman herself, she could understand Scarlett's feelings, at least to some extent.
"What, you're not happy that I don't remember her? That doesn't sound like a wife's reaction."
"I'm not your real wife. Of course, I wouldn't be jealous."
Emma's words made Liam frown. It seemed it would take some time for her to truly accept her current identity.
...
The next day, when Emma announced at the magazine that Scarlett Martinez had been confirmed as the cover star for the new issue, everyone was thrilled. After all, Scarlett was the biggest star New York Fashion Magazine had ever invited.
This was a huge boost for the magazine's popularity.
"Editor-in-Chief, you're amazing! I thought it would take a lot of effort to get Scarlett on board so quickly," Ava said, looking at Emma with admiration after the meeting.
"I just happened to have the right opportunity."
"It must be because you're the wife of the Pinnacle Corporation's CEO. That's why Scarlett agreed. Otherwise, she wouldn't have come so easily."
Emma couldn't deny Ava's words. It was true. If it weren't for Liam, she would have had to jump through a lot of hoops just to meet Scarlett.
She had to admit that many things that used to be difficult had become much easier because she was Liam Williams' wife.
So, she was truly grateful to him.
...
"Why are you here?"
Liam looked at Amelia White, who had appeared in his office, and couldn't help but ask.
"I haven't seen you in a few days, big brother. I missed you so much. I cooked a few dishes at noon today, all your favorites. You have to try them and tell me if they're good."
Amelia smiled sweetly as she took the food out of the exquisite lunchbox one by one. Liam's expression was one of helplessness.
"Amelia, your leg injury isn't fully healed yet. You shouldn't be walking around so casually."
"I'm fine, big brother. It's almost all better now. Besides, I took a car here. No matter how high your office is, I won't get tired taking the elevator. Can't I even come to see my own brother without being questioned?"
Amelia's face fell, looking aggrieved, as if she were about to cry.
"I didn't say you couldn't come to the company. I just want you to take care of your foot."
When Amelia heard that Liam was concerned about her, her tears turned into a smile.
"Brother, can I come work at your company once my foot is healed? I'm going crazy staying at home every day."
"Didn't you say you wanted to open a gallery? I thought you were preparing for that."
"I don't think I have enough experience yet. I thought I'd work for you first. Would you let me work at your company?"
Amelia looked at Liam cautiously.
"There's no reason why not. Come here when your foot is healed, and I'll arrange a position for you then."
"Thank you, big brother. You're the best to me, as always."
Amelia said with a sweet smile.
She thought that as long as she had the chance to be with her brother day and night, she wouldn't be afraid of stealing his heart away from Emma Johnson.
...
At the film studio on the outskirts of the city, Isabella Miller had just finished her scenes and was saying goodbye to everyone. When she reached Scarlett Martinez, the film's lead actress, she stopped and greeted her warmly.
"Are you Isabella Miller?"
Scarlett looked at Isabella. Although she had just transitioned from modeling to acting, her future was bright because of her popularity and acting skills.
But what impressed Scarlett the most was that Isabella was Emma Johnson's cousin. Not long ago, there had been that big scandal about a third party, and Isabella was the victim.
Because of that, Scarlett had a bad impression of Emma. She couldn't understand why a man of such high status would choose a woman with such low moral character.
"Yes, I am. Hello, senior."
Isabella made a humble gesture.
"Hello. You're Emma Johnson's cousin, right? I just agreed to be the cover star for her magazine's new issue."
"Oh, what a coincidence. I just finished shooting for the last issue."
Isabella said with a smile.
"Really? It seems you have a good relationship with your cousin. Otherwise, why would you agree to shoot for her magazine?"
Scarlett's tone carried a hint of sarcasm.
Isabella's smile froze for a moment, but she quickly recovered.
"Well, she is my cousin, after all. Family is family."
