Since Kennedy Taylor was an ambitious woman, she wouldn't be content with merely controlling Oasis Holdings.
She met Liam Williams and was instantly captivated by such a charismatic man. She'd heard Liam was married, but that didn't bother her. In America, divorce was common among the wealthy.
If she could make Liam fall for her, she could become the new mistress of Pinnacle Corporation.
But now wasn't the right time to reveal her feelings. So she tucked away her affection for Liam, waiting for the perfect opportunity to slowly seduce the man she'd rarely fallen for at first sight.
Christopher Martin, standing beside Liam, watched Kennedy leave with wary eyes.
"Sir, that woman is trouble. Are you sure you want to work with her?"
"If she weren't trouble, I wouldn't have sent her back to Oasis."
Liam's tone was cold.
"But sir, I think her ambition isn't limited to Oasis Holdings. She's got her eyes on Pinnacle Corporation and you too. Once she gains power, I'm afraid she might underestimate you."
"Is that so?"
Liam let out a cold laugh. "Even if she has the ability, she's just a pawn in my hand. Wherever the player's hand moves, that's where she lands. If she tries to cross me, it depends on whether I allow it or not."
Christopher admired his president even more. He believed few people in the world could say something so domineering.
It seemed that as long as he followed the president wholeheartedly, when the president had meat to eat, he would never be left with just bones to chew.
When Liam returned to Sunrise Manor, Emma Johnson was sitting on the sofa, fast asleep. She wore only a sweater and coat, and a fashion show played on the TV across from her.
"She took her medicine and waited for you to come back. She fell asleep while waiting."
Charlotte said to Liam. A warmth spread through Liam's chest. Looking at Emma's beautiful face, his eyes softened, so deep with tenderness they could almost melt.
He turned off the TV, then carefully picked up Emma, intending to take her back to her room.
"Brother, you're back."
Amelia White's voice was clear and sweet, but it woke Emma. She opened her eyes and found herself in Liam's arms. She struggled to jump out of them.
Liam's arms were empty, the tender warmth gone, which made him a little unhappy, but he couldn't get angry with Amelia.
"You haven't slept yet?"
When Amelia heard the low tone in Liam's voice, her heart ached, but she still laughed sweetly, took Liam's arm, and quietly pushed Emma aside.
"I wanted to wait for you to come back. You don't know how boring it was eating dinner at home without you. I barely ate anything."
Amelia said coquettishly.
Emma was still rubbing her sleepy eyes, but with Amelia's push, she staggered a few steps to the side before steadying herself. She almost fell.
Emma's fiery temper ignited instantly.
This Amelia was always finding ways to make her miserable. She'd tolerated it again and again, but Amelia really thought she was weak and could be bullied.
"Liam, you're back. I waited for you and fell asleep. Why didn't you wake me? Did you eat enough tonight? Are you hungry?"
When it came to acting cute, Emma was no match for Amelia. She just didn't usually bother.
Liam looked at another pair of hands holding his arm. He hadn't expected Emma to take the initiative to get close to him. It was a rare, flattering surprise.
He pulled his other arm out of Amelia's grasp, slightly bent his index finger, and gently tapped the tip of Emma's nose. His voice was very soft.
"I just didn't want to wake you."
Amelia felt like her lungs were about to explode. Wasn't Emma always indifferent to her brother? How could she be so enthusiastic today? Had she lost her mind?
No, she couldn't give up just because of this small setback.
"Brother, are you hungry? Let me make you something to eat."
Amelia stubbornly kept her sweet smile and asked Liam. She wanted him to know she was a hundred times softer than that damned woman Emma.
"Oh, Amelia, you want to cook for Liam?"
Emma showed a look of regret.
"What? Is it hard for you, sister-in-law? Do you want to cook for brother? I remember you can't cook, sister-in-law."
The scorn in Amelia's eyes was too obvious. Emma sighed.
"Well, you don't know. Your brother has been craving wonton noodles lately. I had to wait half an hour every day to buy them for him. Later, I wanted to learn how to make them myself. I just learned from Chef Miles at the company cafeteria this afternoon. But since you're a better cook, I won't embarrass myself."
Clever, Amelia thought coldly.
"Did you learn how to make wonton noodles?"
Liam asked in surprise.
"Yes."
Emma couldn't believe she could lie without blushing. Ah, maybe this was what they called being influenced by the company. With Liam, she was gradually changing.
"Amelia, it's very late. Go back to bed. Let your sister-in-law prepare supper for me."
Liam turned and said. Although his tone was concerned, the meaning of dismissal was too obvious. Amelia's smile froze on her face. She wanted to insist, but she was afraid of angering her brother. Finally, she stomped her foot and went upstairs to her room.
Emma made a victory gesture in her heart. Although she didn't want to argue with Amelia, she couldn't tolerate it forever.
But soon, she started to have a headache.
She had never cooked pasta before, but she had to give Liam an explanation. Forget it, she'd just have to tough it out.
Emma secretly cheered herself on.
Half an hour later, Liam looked at Emma, who was covered in flour like a snowman. He finally couldn't help laughing.
"Is this what you learned all afternoon? It seems you're not very good at learning."
When Emma heard Liam's mockery, she angrily threw a ball of soft dough onto the counter and glared at him.
"If you're so good, why don't you show me one?"
Emma saw Liam actually roll up his sleeves and wash his hands. Did he really know how to make noodles?
