Chapter 184

"What's this?"

After a long day at the office, Liam Williams stared at the items inside the packing box, unable to hide his confusion.

"Wonton soup, Mr. CEO. You've never seen wonton soup before?"

Emma Johnson rolled her eyes at him, her disdain barely concealed.

Oliver White, the butler, caught the flicker of emotion in his young master's eyes. He was clearly affected by his grandmother's words. It's true what they say—everyone has their weakness. It seems only the eldest young mistress can make the eldest young master lose his composure.

"Of course I know it's wonton soup. But how did it get here? Did you go out today?"

Liam's thoughts immediately turned to scolding Emma.

How could this woman not let him worry about her? Even if she went out, she should have called him. She had no sense of being his wife.

"I took Emma with me. What, do you want to lecture me?"

The sharp thud of a cane hitting the floor made Liam wonder if his ears were playing tricks on him. When had the old man started calling Emma by her first name?

He remembered being at the office for only one day. How could everything at home feel so different when he returned?

"You went with Emma?"

Liam asked, disbelief coloring his voice.

"That's right. It's been over thirty years, but I can't believe the taste of that old shop hasn't changed. It really brings back memories."

Emma helped Henry Williams settle onto the sofa. The old man let out a nostalgic sigh.

"It was Emma who thought of you. She stood in line just to buy you wonton soup. She held it herself the whole way back in the car."

The old man looked at Emma with admiration, his eyes full of approval.

Emma shot Liam a smug look. Miss Ben might not be able to cook squirrel fish, but she can easily arrange a queue, buy some noodles, and score points with the old man.

Liam couldn't help but smile at her expression. The thought that Emma had personally queued up to buy him wonton soup sent a wave of warmth through his chest.

It seemed this woman wasn't completely heartless.

"Dinner tonight is only half ready as usual. Emma and I are going to play chess. When the second young master and the third young lady return, let them eat without me."

Emma helped Henry up, and they headed to the study for their chess game. Liam was satisfied with this scene. He didn't want his father to keep picking on Emma anymore.

Otherwise, it would give him a headache.

He hurried upstairs to change into his casual clothes. When he came down to eat the wonton soup Emma had queued up for him, he found that Benjamin Williams had already returned and finished the soup.

The smile on Liam's lips instantly vanished.

"Big brother, this is really good. Which shop did you buy it from? I'll buy more next time. One bowl isn't enough for me."

Benjamin, exhausted from managing the Las Vegas Entertainment City, hadn't even had time for lunch. He took a napkin from the servant, wiped his mouth, and spoke to Liam.

But he noticed his brother's gloomy expression. Did something happen at the company that angered him?

"Brother, are you okay?"

Benjamin asked cautiously.

"Nothing. You've been very busy lately. It seems we haven't practiced boxing in a while. Since everyone's home early today, how about we head to the training room for a session?"

"Huh?"

Before Benjamin could react, Liam grabbed him by the collar and dragged him toward the training room as if he were a child.

Oliver White quietly watched the two brothers leave the living room. As a devout Christian, he silently made a prayer gesture and whispered, "Amen." I hope the second young master doesn't come out of the training room in pieces.

"What did big brother and second brother do? Why did big brother look so fierce?"

Amelia White, who had just returned from outside, asked in confusion.

Oliver shook his head, pretending not to know. The young master was always deep in thought. How could he admit that he was angry with the second young master over a bowl of wonton soup?

Naturally, he kept his mouth shut.

"And father?"

"The old man is playing chess with the eldest young mistress in the study."

"What?"

Amelia's surprise was almost too much to believe.

Hadn't her father always disliked Emma? He used to whisper in his ear about how Emma didn't care about his brother. How could he now let her play chess with him?

Amelia decided that seeing was believing. She crept to the study door and heard her father's laughter mingling with Emma's.

Her grip on the doorknob tightened. She bit her lower lip so hard it nearly bled. Emma Johnson, you've taken my brother from me, and now you want to take my place in this family?

No, I will never allow it.

I am the only princess in this family.

In the training room, Benjamin fought freely with Liam. Although he had trained since childhood, he was clearly no match for his older brother, who had served in the military. Plus, since leaving Amelia eight years ago, Benjamin had been in a semi-abandoned state, drifting through life until recently finding some focus.

Today, he didn't know what had gotten into his brother. He was almost thrown to the ground. He wanted to fight back, but he didn't have the strength. In the end, he had to admit defeat.

Emma played a few games of chess with the old man, making him very happy. Satisfied, she returned to her room.

She saw Liam walking out of the bathroom, wearing only a white towel around his waist. Perhaps because she had seen him like this more than once, she had developed some immunity and wasn't as flustered as the first time.

"It's barely dark. Why did you take a shower?"

"I just went to the gym for some free combat practice. I was sweating all over, so I needed to wash up. You finished playing chess with the old man?"

"Yes. By the way, was the wonton soup good?"

Emma looked at Liam expectantly.

"Benjamin ate it."

Liam was so angry he wanted to go to Benjamin's room and drag him back to the training room.

"What? I waited in line for half an hour to buy that for you! How could you just give it to him? You don't appreciate my hard work!"

Emma was a little annoyed.

"I'll buy it again tomorrow."

Liam said casually, as if discussing tomorrow's weather.

"That's easy for you to say. I have to wait at least half an hour to buy one, you know?"

Emma protested strongly.
